Relax on the Yellowstone River with Gorgeous Mountain Views

We welcome you and your family to our piece of mile-high paradise on the banks of the Yellowstone River. If “roughing it” in a cabin, camper, or tent is not your cup of tea, please join us and the amenities of our spacious four bedroom, central air conditioned ranch home. Our home is fully equipped for your stay including plenty of kitchen utensils and appliances, basic pantry staples, dish and laundry soap, and outdoor gas grill.

Magnificent Yellowstone National Park begins on the far bank of the river, across from our home! The entrance to Yellowstone is a quick 5 minute drive to Gardiner, Montana. Enjoy spectacular views of Electric Peak (elevation 10,969 feet) from our family room, dining room, and spacious deck. Listen to the Yellowstone River, the longest dam-free river in the continental United States. Guests can relax or fish from the banks with quick stroll from the backyard down a few easy steps. Our seasonal, backyard animal visitors include elk, deer, bison, bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope, bald eagles, and grizzly bears.

Amazing Home

Wonderful property! Had a blast fly fishing each night. Perfect location to explore Yellowstone. Lori was a great host with many personal touches in the home.

Peacefulness

Absolutely gorgeous setting. The hammock and/or chairs next to the river is such a soothing place to relax after a day in the park, which is a quick drive away. The house is very nice. We had a party of 8, so the bathroom situation had to be managed but was handled just fine. Very clean, well stocked, incredible view. We all were sad we had to leave. A

Second Stay

Great house with a lovely yard - green grass, trees & flowers. Enjoyed listening to the Yellowstone River, the birds and watching the rafts go by. There were daily visits from the group of elk walking thru and sleeping in the yard. Located in the country but near enough to town and the Park entrance, and very private. Well supplied inside with basics and an excellent kitchen if you choose to cook. Tap water was fine - no need to buy bottled water. Quick visit from the owner, very pleasant and not intrusive-encouraged contact if any questions or problems. Nice lady.This was our second stay and would definitely reserve again if available. Enjoyed our stay.

Great family vacation

The house and grounds were absolutely beautiful! Pictures online did not do justice. There was so much to do in Yellowstone and surrounding areas that were interesting to all the different ages in our group! We had a wonderful week and highly recommend this property.

Perfect home base for Yellowstone

This was the perfect location to see Yellowstone. There was plenty of room for three generations to hang out but have space (two teenagers in tow). Lori and Brian were great with local tips, such as going to Tom Minor Basin to see grizzly bears. The house was well stocked with everything we needed for prepping meals to go and cooking in. I would recommend this location over and over again.

This was our third time to stay here. The views are just as breathtaking as the first time. Property is super clean and has everything we need for our family of 5. Perfect for those with kids! Booked for next year before we left.

Wonderful Family Vacation

This was a great location for a wonderful family vacation in Yellowstone! The location on Yellowstone River was fantastic! We loved watching the sunset on the deck overlooking the River every day and the kids loved playing in the big backyard. The house was well stocked with everything we could possibly need. This was a great home base for exploring Yellowstone - very close to the north side of the park and a beautiful drive to points that were on the other end of the park. We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful! Wonderful

We had a great time at this beautiful house. Close to the Yellowstone River, close to the Yellowstone entrance but very peaceful and relaxing. With so many age groups in our party we had a fabulous time! Fish, lay in the hammock, sit on the deck and read. It was all great!

IDEAL family retreat for YNP

Our family of 6, including four kids (9 - 15) stayed for four days, we could not have been happier with the house, the privacy, the views, the location, and the owner - Lori was terrific. No where else we'd stay if we are fortunate to do another road trip from Minnesota to YNP, home was clean, well maintained, and very comfortable. Frisbee in the yard, hammock on the river, beautiful deck with incredible view - we spend 1 day just enjoying the backyard, then in the evening made the 4 minute drive to town for Pizza and Huckleberry ice cream. Thanks Lori !!

Making Lifetime Memories On the River

When we walked in the front door we were greeted with a view of the Yellowstone River through the back sliding glass doors. Oh, my goodness... ... it was AMAZING. Then to open the door and hear the river only added to our first impression of our vacation home for the week. The home has been beautifully maintained. It was clean. It was well decorated. It was stocked in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room with all we needed and more. With the well supplied kitchen we cooked all five nights of our stay. There were plenty of dishes, pots, pans, spices, pantry staples, and appliances. The guys enjoyed many hours out at the river fly fishing. I didn't fish but I never got tired of watching or enjoying the view and nature. A couple mornings and evenings there were elk in the backyard. And one morning as we were leaving to go to YNP we saw about 35 elk at the top of the driveway. Now that was a site to see and hear. I have given the highest rating possible - it is that good!! Thank you!

Absolutely stunning views!

We had such a good time staying at Ms. Lori’s property. She greeted us on our first day there and was so friendly and helpful. The house is well stocked. She has thought of everything down to the little details. It made cooking meals much easier. The grocery store is less than 5 minutes away. This was our 4th time coming to Yellowstone and this is by far the best place we have stayed. We had elk come by the back deck and in our front yard. We saw antelope daily across the river. I especially loved the hammock by the river. It was nice to be able to relax by the river while our son fished and the girls played at the edge of the river seeing how many “special” rocks they could find. The kids (teenagers) played many games of wiffle ball. She has several yard games and inside board games available. We also enjoyed the convenient location to the North entrance of the park. It is a trip that we will never forget and hope to visit again in the future. I truly believe Lori goes above and beyond to make her guests feel at home. Her hospitality was much appreciated!

Both owner and home exceeded our wildest expectations

Have you ever thought about traveling to a different place, but just hated leaving your own home? One inevitably arrives at a new destination and then begins to bemoan how the 'vacation home' isn't as good as 'our home'. Now imagine that you went on vacation and you realized the house you are staying in IS just as wonderful as your own home and has a majestic view that simply makes you want to sit and stare. Welcome to the Upper Yellowstone River Retreat! Now imagine that your favorite neighbor from back home was the person who raised their family in the house and now opens it up to you with the same charm and friendliness that one expects from only their dearest friends. Meet Lori Roedell. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Lori's house and quite frankly were sometimes wondering why we should wander into the park, because we felt we were already in the park. The house is laid out in such a way that it has clearly defined separate spaces and yet has a flow which is tight and efficient. Finally, the house has all the simple and elegant touches that make it a home ready to embrace a family. We give this house and it's owner our very highest rating. What an AMAZING home! It was perfect for our group of four. It was equipped with all the comforts of home. The view of the mountains and animals in the front and backyard were spectacular! Lori was a very gracious host! If you are ever in the Gardiner/North Yellowstone area I would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful home.

The kitchen is well equipped. The location is a bit out of town which makes it nice and quiet. About 15 min from mammoth visitor center in Yellowstone. Beautiful setting!

We loved our stay at Lori’s place! The home was clean and had everything we needed during our stay. The kitchen was well stocked! The setting, right on the Yellowstone River, with mountains in the background were so beautiful to wake up to and have coffee in the morning. We also had elk that walked right through the backyard while we were there! Even better was that it was a 5 minute drive to the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park. I would definitely recommend staying here. You will not regret it!

This rental house was absolutely amazing! It had stunning views, the house was so clean and spacious. The bedding, bathrooms, and kitchen were spotless. Every area of the house seemed to be thought of and cared for. We had the pleasure of meeting Lori, the owner, one evening and getting to spend a few minutes visiting with her. She was so lovely and friendly! If we ever come back to the area, we would rebook this house in a heartbeat!

Hello! I was born and raised in Montana and grew up in Gardiner. I am fortunate to be able to continue living under this beautiful big sky! I enjoying playing in the outdoors as much as possible--rock climbing, biking, hiking, skiing, or just simply taking in beautiful vistas and fresh air. I enjoy cooking and trying new foods. I hope one day I will master the perfect pie crust. As a host, I am happy to help my guests locate fun activities during their stay such as horseback riding, rafting, or exploring Yellowstone by foot. There are so many experiences to be had in the Greater Yellowstone Area!

This is the home in which I was raised. It is a wonderful house with spectacular views and immediate river access. This is a family operation and my mother lives on the property and is available to answer any questions (unless she's off kayaking, hiking, or skiing).
