Place with artistic charm,cozy and tranquil indeed. Beautiful location with many hikes around. 30 minutes walk from Fairfax center.

Our host was wonderful! My family and friends unexpectedly ended up hanging out with her out on the back garden deck enjoying great conversation and good vino. Very nice time indeed!

Parking was a bit difficult for older people.It would be very helpful to list how many steps to climb to get to the apt.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, good to note the number of stairs to suite and can’t believe in 15 years no one has asked before so thanks. Reg parking: I find it always best to ask and communicate and I wish you had about the parking as a great alternative is just to park in the driveway, parallel to the street (ie your car will be level). There is plenty of room for this and still easy access. Or by pulling all the way up to the gate, the incline is significantly less. Thanks again.

The room and property was absolutely beautiful. My wife and I really found it welcoming. We only stayed for one night but it was perfect. My only even tiniest forms of constructive notes was that we had a hard time closing curtains. There seemed no way of blocking a complete view outside. If someone walked by, they could see in. And even if they were closed, they were very sheer so could be seen through. Also no TV in the room. Once again neither are bad or a deal breaker. I wish I would have seen the house owner around. I would have loved to thank her and let her know how beautiful it was.

If you have trouble with stairs don't stay here. Lovely place but the drive to the house is difficult. And then the stairs up to your room, oh my. I had to leave after one night as I just couldn't face them daily. And having to drive the narrow, twisting road at dusk was frightening. It was a great room and the quiet was outstanding. Host was a lovely lady. Just I'm too old for all the climbing.

I am so sorry this didn’t work for Jean. As she called me prior to her booking to specifically ask about stairs, I am not sure why she was surprised; I told her there were 13 stairs along the side of the house with a landing in the middle and a hand rail. And that is what she found. The road here from town is 1 mile along a lovely residential street. I follows along a creek and does not go up into the surrounding hills although there are a couple of curves in which you want to drive slowly. If you are the type who enjoys walking, it is a lovely walk to the town of Fairfax (35 min) or a short drive; under 10 minutes. Again I am so sorry it was not a good fit for Jean, yet I’m not sure how I could have been more clear as I certainly want my guests to enjoy their stay. This is the first time in over 15 years that I have experienced this situation and I have had guests in their mid 90’s have wonderful stays here. It is a great place for those who love the peace and serenity of nature while being close to town. And yes, there are 13 stairs to the garden suite.
