Cardinal Crossing: Stylish & Spacious Hudson Valley Getaway with Heated Saltwate
Summary:
Welcome to Cardinal Crossing, a beautifully renovated modern colonial on over 3 acres in the Hudson Valley, just a mile from the center of Rhinebeck Village. With four airy bedrooms and three and half renovated bathrooms, this house has plenty of space to spread out comfortably, but maintains the warmth and classic comforts of a traditional house in the Hudson Valley.
The Space:
Inside on the first floor you’ll find a glorious glass-roofed chef’s kitchen with breakfast area, dining for ten, living room with massive fireplace, an all glass sunroom, den with custom wetbar, separate TV room, mudroom, and powder room. Outside you can enjoy the huge bluestone patio, gas grill, fire pit, hammock, surrounding yards, and of course, the heated saltwater pool. Upstairs is where you’ll find the sleeping quarters, with all four bedrooms, three full renovated baths, and laundry. The house also has high speed Wi-Fi - the ideal country retreat and family home in the perfect location.
Perched atop a gentle ridge on over three acres of lush land, Cardinal Crossing is more than a home—it’s a storybook retreat where every season writes a new chapter. Imagine waking to the chirp of cardinals across a sun-dappled meadow, then stepping outside to breathe in fresh air as you plan a day of adventure or pure relaxation.
As you arrive at Cardinal Crossing, you’ll step into a soaring double-height entry vestibule that sets the tone for a home designed to welcome both memorable gatherings and quiet moments. A fully stocked, open chef’s kitchen with a glass atrium flows into a sun drenched breakfast nook—perfect for your morning coffee and a croissant from Bread Alone—while just beyond, a long dining table seats ten comfortably for family meals or entertaining. On cooler days, migrate to the living room and gather around the wood-burning fireplace which anchors the space, and a separate TV room with an 80” television sits just off the open living space, like your own personal movie theater, perfect for movie night (popcorn maker included!). This room is also stocked with endless games, puzzles and activities to keep people of any age happy and busy. When you crave something more refined, slip into the bar room/den, where plush seating and a built in custom wet bar invite you to extend the evening over games or conversation. Step through the den to relax in the sunroom, which brightens every afternoon with vaulted windows overlooking the lawn. Glass sliding doors let out to the expansive bluestone patio and fire pit. A side entrance to the house also has a mudroom to keep muddy boots and gear out of sight, and a convenient and adorable wallpapered powder room off the living room allows you to keep the entertaining downstairs without requiring guest to travel upstairs.
Outside, the hard-wired gas grill is a chef’s dream, and the rocking chairs around the fire pit make you feel like there’s always time for one more s’more. For the ultimate in relaxation, head to the hammock grove, and of course, the best part of it all, the heated saltwater pool is a magical oasis that makes you feel like you’ve like you’ve truly found paradise.
Upstairs, four beautifully appointed bedrooms share three full baths and a laundry room. The sun drenched primary suite boasts a king bed, en-suite renovated bath with glass enclosed shower of marble and handmade ceramic tile, and a television if you want to continue movie night from the comfort of your own bed. The queen guest suite includes a private dressing room, tons of closet space, its own television, and its own renovated en-suite bathroom with marble shower. Next, the large and cheerful double room has exposures on two sides, facing over the lawn in two directions, and has two twin beds. Finally, an additional guest room features a full-bed for any extra guests, and shares a large, renovated tub-and-shower bathroom with the double room. Zoned heating and A/C, high-speed Wi-Fi, and thoughtful storage throughout ensure that everything—from linens to luggage—has its place. With no detail overlooked, Cardinal Crossing strikes the perfect balance between homey functionality and luxurious Hudson Valley charm.
The Neighborhood:
Nestled on a quiet, wooded stretch, just a 3 minute drive or a short walk or bike ride into the center of the Village of Rhinebeck, Cardinal Crossing enjoys the best of both seclusion and community. Pop into town without a thought to enjoy all the high end restaurants, shops, antiques and events the town has to offer as one of the premier destinations in the Hudson Valley. To cast a wider net, you can easily head over the bridge into the action in Kingston, North to Red Hook, East to Millbrook, Clinton Corners, and so much more. Each season brings its own draw to the village: spring farmers markets and blossoming orchards, summer events like the Dutchess County Fair and Aerodrome shows, vibrant fall foliage along the river and apple picking, and cozy winter festivals as well as multiple ski mountains under an hour away. Under 2 hours from New York City, and just 90 minutes by train to Penn Station, the endless shops, farm-to-table restaurants, art galleries, and welcoming cafés that line the village streets makes Rhinebeck the quintessential Hudson Valley destination—and a wonderful place to call home.
Getting Around:
A car is recommended to the get the most of your time in the Hudson Valley, but the center of the village of Rhinebeck is one-mile away from the house, easily accessible by bike or a nice walk. The Amtrak station in Rhinecliff is also 7 minutes away (the train is an hour and a half to Penn Station, trains run regularly), and frequent taxis and Ubers available any time.
