The house was beautiful! The only issue we had was the smell of mold and mildew. We informed the host that we couldn't stay there due to the smell. I was reimbursed full price back and also insurance paid. She even offered us her own home to stay in.

The purpose of my visit to Rochester was to attend appts at the Mayo. This home was conveniently located, especially when making multiple trips a day. The home was clean with ample towels, blankets, toiletries and anything you could think of or may have forgotten. I really appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and items for cooking. The home had smart TV’s in every room, high speed internet (I worked during my trip), ample space and bathrooms on both floors. The bedding was plush and comfortable with ceiling fans and ample lighting and outlets in every room, which is nice being the home is older. Deb was very responsive. The check in and out process was very easy. This home perfectly fit my needs in every way during my week long stay in Rochester. Thanks for hosting me in your home. It is lovely and has lots of character. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay and absolutely enjoyed our time. The decor and overall style is beautifully done and made the space feel both inviting and thoughtfully put together. While there were a few minor imperfections that could be mentioned, they didn’t impact our experience at all and aren’t worth focusing on. The host was very reasonable and understanding when we had a small issue, which we appreciated. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it to others. We would happily stay again.

Pictures can be deceiving. The property needed a lot of work. There was a smell when you walked through the door and didn’t go away. Not sure if it was from old house or something else. When we got home and I started to do my laundry, I could smell the smell of the house on my laundry.

Very cute comfortable house to stay in. Host was very good about responding to us. It was a great stay and she provided some extras. Beds were comfortable as well. Highly recommend!

The house was exactly as imaged and comfortable beds too! It was within walking distance to the Mayo Civic Center to see the show we came into town for. Adding an additional night was requested due to the blizzard (25" of show). The host was quick to respond and easy to work with.

We absolutely LOVED this house! It has every possible amenity! The kitchen is stocked well enough to cook a meal, there are many shampoo, conditioners, and body washes to choose from, and there is a tv in each of the bedrooms!! The house is adorable and functional. It's only a few minutes from Mayo Clinic, which was helpful. We will definitely stay here again!!

The house was stocked with everything we needed for a girls weekend! Close to downtown too. The owner was also quick to respond to the couple questions we had. Cute house and would recommend!

The home was in a great location and very comfortable to stay in. The host Deb, makes sure you have everything you need to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. My wife made the comment that the host was “good at this” which she has never said about another property that we have visited before. The deal is always in the details and Deb in my opinion understands that. Thanks for providing a great experience!

Deb was an amazing host! She answered questions promptly and was so incredibly understanding of our situation as we navigated issues with transplant issues. She was above & beyond. The home was equipped with literally everything and it was like being “home”. I would definitely stay here again as we continue to work through the next steps with this process. Thank you Deb for everything!

Despite the assurance that strong detergents are not used in the house, we discovered that the sheets and towels had been washed with Gain laundry detergent. In my experience, Gain is particularly unpleasant due to its strong scent. The odor was so overwhelming that my wife and I were forced to leave after just one night. After informing the owner about the issue, her response was indifferent. She claimed that only a small amount of detergent had been used, implying that it should not have caused discomfort. However, for renters sensitive to scents, the quantity does not change the effect. The house was basically clean but the filth between the quarter inch gaps in the wood flooring are just disgusting and gross. There is also a very unpleasant smell of food spilled or something in the kitchen that should be cleaned up. The place needs a complete deep cleaning as it appears to be clean until you look under or behind anything.

I apologize for your experience but I used 1 tsp. of detergent and zero fabric softener when cleaning the sheets/towels prior to your arrival per your request. I also used natural cleaning products to appease to your sensitivities. I went above and beyond for you with regard to cleaning. This is the first time I’ve been documented for cleaning so thoroughly that I received a bad review. May I suggest if you are THAT sensitive to smells/natural cleaning products, you should stay in appropriate hotels. I have extreme asthma so I do not use any products that I deemed inappropriate for individuals with sensitivities. You also threatened to leave a bad review if I did not refund you. I do not believe in intimidation and/or threats so I opted to stand for what I believe is true and just. Your review is unwarranted.

I am guessing that this property was built about a hundred years ago. That would be okay because I like vintage. However, over the decades, apparently a lot of amateur DIY was done. The owner has some supplies stashed around the place so perhaps the poorly cut and pieced moulding, bad flooring, cracking walls, scraping doors, awful paintwork and so on willl be eventually be corrected. All of that would not rate the lowest rating I could possibly give. What does justify the lowest rating was the deplorable state of the kitchen. In general it looked as if a very old person had recently moved out and all their stuff was left behind. An over abundance of mismatched pots, pans, utensils and plastic ware. I had no complaints about the glassware, dishes and silverware which appeared to be new and clean. But when I pulled out several pans, they had old burnt on food along with poorly cleaned recent food and stains. I pulled two spatulas out of a not too clean overstuffed and jumbled utensil drawer that appeared to have scrambled egg bits clinging to them. At first glance, the counters and sink were clean but the inside of drawers, cabinets and oven were not. Even the knife block sitting on the counter was caked with grease. The refrigerator and pantry cabinet were full of open half used condiments - not a few but easily over 40. I understand the owner thought someone could use them, but to me that is gross. Kitchen needs deep cleaning and the contents edited to only clean essentials.

I’m quite dismayed by your review when the group that stayed right after you left a 5*. I am sorry you found the home so unappealing. I did write in the description that the home is over 100 years old, as are all the homes that are this close to Mayo. Everything is always cleaned thoroughly! I apologize if the previous guests left the dishes/silverware unclean. That is not something that happens on a regular basis. My cleaner assumes the previous guests put dishes back that have been thoroughly cleaned. The pots and pans are a set so I’m not sure why you said they were mismatched. Your review was extremely harsh. I do not believe my home deserved that. You stayed in a 3 bedroom, 1500sq. ft. home blocks from Mayo cheaper than any hotel in the area. I’ve stayed in this home many times and felt very comfortable. My husband is a cardiologist at Mayo and I have a lovely home. I’m quite taken aback by your review. I have realized over the years that certain people will complain about everything and are never happy.
