Our amazing Villa is always presented in pristine condition and we take a lot of pride in this! :) As my grandmother always said, “In a bushel, sometimes you get a bad apple.” Very sadly, this review is about revenge. The traveler was caught in a lie just prior to her arrival and quickly tried to hide her deception with grossly exaggerated anger and accusation. The truth is that for 9 months she pretended that there were just 2 travelers to avoid the additional charges for 4 travelers. The additional traveler cost covers electric, water and maid fees ($28/nite per guest for 28 nites = $1568.00). We only discovered this immediately prior to her arrival. When we asked for it, she became enraged. She tried to find fault with the villa to justify her antisocial behavior. In one room, the A/C made a bit of noise (I can assure everyone, no planes are taking off from the bedroom! LOL). The part had been ordered PRIOR to her arrival (from Puerto Rico) and was installed immediately after it cleared US Custom’s. When she complained about dust on one baseboard, we immediately sent the maid service to attend to her needs. When she broke a fairly new patio umbrella by leaving it up in a windstorm, we bought her a new one the very next day (and did not charge her). When there was an unanticipated problem with the first two nights of her stay, we spent $950.00 and immediately booked her TWO rooms at the nicest resort on the island (for all 4 guests!). In the end, her complaints were all subterfuge to cover her bad behavior and try and justify not paying the full rent, which we are still waiting for. We have been in the business of offering our vacation villas to excited travelers for almost 20 years and have never had to deal with such direct sociopathy – it takes one’s breath away. Thanks so much for your kind review! Cleanliness is next to Godliness in our opinion!! We are glad you found our villa clean, well airconditioned and comfortable! We do our best to ensure the kitchen is ready for anything - its always nice when this is noticed. :) The views are indeed beautiful and we are so glad you had great sunsets while you were there. We are sorry about the chickens...they are not the neighbors, they run wild all over town! I wish we could control the wildlife! The great advantage of our Villa is its in-town location. It is the only one of its historic quality in Frederiksted. But with that comes the chickens and the street traffic. And well, yes, mosquitos are EVERYWHERE in the Caribbean especially after a good rain. We always recommend repellant (and sunblock). I also thought this might be a good opportunity for us to underscore that we have never had safety issues in the 15 years we have enjoyed the Villa (the padlocks are for when the Villa is locked up in off season - sorry they alarmed you!).
