The Space:

Come stay with us at the Pelton House, a terrific five-bedroom, ivy-covered lakefront house with a great private beach overlooking Lake Michigan! This brick home in New Buffalo sleeps 14 comfortably and features all the comforts and amenities of a home. A staircase leads down to a wide beach with small grassy dunes from which to soak in the beauty of the lake. This family-friendly brick house is circa 1938 and has an old-world charm, but it also boasts all the modern amenities including central air conditioning, wireless high-speed internet, satellite television, a fully-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, and washer and dryer. A patio with a view of the lake features a barbecue grill, outdoor refrigerator, and two large wrought-iron dining tables‚ perfect for a family meal as the sun sets and the fireflies dance in the yard. If the children get tired of playing on the beach, they can shoot baskets on the basketball hoop at the side of the house. Those who prefer the shade can relax in the rocking chair and dive into the shelves of vintage books. The Pelton House is the ideal location for a relaxing summer vacation! We had an incredible weekend here with family and friends. The location is unbeatable — we parked the car when we arrived and never touched it again. The beach is essentially at your doorstep.The house has a warm, cabin-like feel that made the whole group comfortable right away. We especially loved the family photos throughout; it gives the place a personal, lived-in character you don't get from a typical rental.The host was also excellent about communication throughout check-in and check-out, which made everything smooth from start to finish.A few small things show the home's age, but nothing that came close to affecting our stay. We're already talking about coming back.

View and location were wonderful. It was easy to get to the beach and to New Buffalo. The house is older, but worked for us. Our biggest complaint was the lack of window screens in house. It was beautiful at night, but fighting the mosquitos made it difficult to sleep.

Beautiful

Lovely old home literally on the beach. Right down the road from downtown. Only drawback is if you have a larger vehicle the parking can be a bit tricky. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent View

We had a great time at the Pelton house! The neighborhood was nice and quite and there was games and beach equipment that made it a memorable vacation! We will be back!

Pelton House was Great!

The view out the back windows was fantastic spanning a panoramic view of Lake Michigan. The kids loved the spacious back yard spending lots of time on the tire swing. The bedrooms were large and provided a comfortable sleep. Overall everyone was very pleased with the property

The perfect family beach house

The private beach here is as good as it gets in SW Michigan! The house is very comfortable for a large family, and the back garden overlooking the beach is ideal with its large elm trees, views to the horizon, and two large iron tables for group dining. 5* all the way!

Wonderful

We love the beach, basketball hoop, big table in the main room to eat meals, play cards, paint rocks etc. I only gave it 4 stars because this cottage is very old and you have to understand that renting it.

Entering Pelton House was like walking into a moment in history. It is covered with old family photos, loads of beautiful books, original furniture (well-worn and comfortable), and a general sense that, if the walls could talk, they would regale you with stories of the generations of the family who gathered there. We encountered a few minor issues at the beginning, and the management company was very responsive None of these issues hindered our enjoyment of the property and were taken care of immediately. The view is the first thing you will notice when you enter the home. It is breathtaking! The lake and beautiful beach are a short walk from the property’s yard, and the seven of us spent our days lounging in our beach chairs and enjoying the refreshing breeze coming off the lake. The kitchen is quite small, but we managed perfectly fine. There is a big kitchen table that accommodated big breakfasts and evening games. There is one master bedroom on the first floor and four bedrooms upstairs with lots of sleeping options. It would be great for children, but we were a party of seven adults, and we all slept comfortably. The downstairs bathroom had a step in tub and shower, clean and adequate. The upstairs bathroom was completely remodeled. If you are looking for sleek, modern accommodations, this might not be the place for you. But if you appreciate nostalgia, rustic surroundings, and a bit of history, Pelton House checks all the boxes. And the view….
