Evergreen Escape - 5BR Banner Elk Cabin · Hot Tub · Game Room · 3 Min to ...
Some mountain houses are for couples. Evergreen Escape is for the whole crew!
Hidden in the trees in a quiet Banner Elk neighborhood — but barely a mile from town — this three-story, five-bedroom home sleeps fourteen and gives everyone room to breathe. Come off the slopes, drop your boots at the door, and let the house do the rest: a soak in the private hot tub, an evening around the deck fire table, a movie in the basement theater room, dinner around a table that seats twelve.
THE SETTING Evergreen Escape sits perfectly centered in the High Country. It’s about ten minutes to Beech Mountain and twelve to Sugar Mountain — so you can ski two resorts in one trip — and six minutes to the restaurants, shops, and breweries of downtown Banner Elk, with Lees-McRae College less than a mile from your door. The lot itself is wooded and private, with fall color that turns the whole neighborhood gold and deer and wild turkey that wander through most mornings. There are no mountain-view crowds here, just trees, quiet, and three decks to enjoy them from.
ROOM TO SPREAD OUT Five bedrooms across three levels keep families and friends comfortable: - Main-level king suite — no stairs, ideal for grandparents - Two upstairs queen bedrooms — one with an en-suite full bath, one with its own half bath - Lower-level queen suite with a private bath and mini-kitchenette — a little apartment of its own - Bunk room with two twin-over-twin bunks — the kids will call it first - Plus a game-room futon for overflow (sleeps 14 total)
Every bedroom has its own smart TV, and the freshly painted interior wears an easy mid-century-modern mountain look.
THE GATHERING SPACES The open main level is where everyone lands — a living room anchored by a cozy gas fireplace and a window-seat reading nook, a dining table for twelve under a brass sputnik chandelier, and a fully equipped kitchen with an island, drip coffee and a Keurig, and everything you need to cook for a crowd. Downstairs, the finished basement is pure fun: a game and movie room with a projector movie wall, Pac-Man and Mortal Kombat arcade cabinets, a foosball table, giant Connect Four, and a deep bench of board games, cards, and puzzles for rainy afternoons.
BRAND-NEW COMFORT The home was just updated with central air conditioning (new in 2026) and a freshly painted interior — so it stays cool and bright in summer and cozy and warm in ski season. Fast WiFi and a dedicated desk make it easy to sneak in a little work; live TV and streaming keep everyone entertained at night.
THE OUTDOORS Three decks wrap the home at different levels, so there’s always a spot in the sun or the shade. Gather around the gas fire table under café lights on the upper deck, fire up the propane grill on the side deck, and end the night with a soak in the private hot tub, set in its own tree-ringed clearing below the house. By day, let the kids roam a wooded, wildlife-filled lot.
FAMILY-READY Traveling with little ones is simple here: a Pack ’n Play, high chair, booster seat, baby bathtub, and a stash of kids’ toys, books, and games are all on hand.
THE AREA You’re minutes from skiing, snow tubing, and ice skating at Sugar and Beech; the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster; hiking and photography at Grandfather Mountain State Park; and the galleries, breweries, cafés, and shopping of downtown Banner Elk. Lees-McRae College is under a mile away — ideal for move-in and parents’ weekends, campus visits, and graduation. Boone and App State are a half-hour away. Spring wildflowers, summer festivals, blazing fall leaves, winter snow — this corner of the Blue Ridge is a four-season basecamp.
Self check-in with a smart lock, free parking for up to five cars, and a pet-friendly policy round it out. Come make Evergreen Escape the mountain trip everyone remembers.

There were a few small items in the house that needed to be addressed but overall was very clean and a good stay. Loved the location in proximity to downtown Banner Elk and Eagles Nest

Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: Nick Reuter
Hi! I'm Nick, and along with my wife Kathi and our three amazing kids, we split time between sunny gulf-coast Florida and the beautiful North Carolina mountains. We moved south from Massachusetts back in 2017, but the Blue Ridge Mountains quickly captured our hearts! There's nothing better than knowing our guests are making memories in a place that means so much to our family. We're hands-on, responsive, and always just a message away to make sure your stay is perfect!
Por qué eligió esta propiedad
The neighborhood surrounding Evergreen Escape is what mountain living is all about — quiet, wooded, and full of natural charm. Set back among the pines, the home enjoys a peaceful setting where deer and wild turkey wander through the trees on a regular basis, and where fall color transforms the whole property into a scene straight off a postcard. There are no sweeping mountain views here, but what the neighborhood offers instead is something guests love just as much: true privacy, tucked deep into the woods, with the sounds of the forest as the backdrop for every stay.
Despite that secluded, tree-lined feel, the location could not be more convenient. Beech Mountain is just 3.6 miles away, Sugar Mountain about 4.7 miles, and downtown Banner Elk is only a six-minute drive, putting skiing, snow tubing, shopping, and dining all within easy reach. Local favorites like Stonewalls, Banner Elk Cafe, and Blind Elk Tap Room make for an easy night out, while Lees-McRae College and Grandfather Mountain State Park are both just minutes away for an afternoon adventure.
What guests enjoy most about this neighborhood is the balance it strikes — the calm of a private, wooded retreat paired with fast access to everything that makes a High Country vacation exciting. It's the kind of setting where mornings start with birdsong and the occasional deer sighting, and evenings end with an easy drive back from dinner in town, all without ever feeling far from the action.
Qué distingue a esta propiedad
What truly sets Evergreen Escape apart is how well it works for a crowd. Sleeping up to fourteen guests across five bedrooms and three full living levels, this home gives large families and multi-generational groups something rare: enough separate space for everyone to spread out, paired with just as many shared spaces that pull the group back together. A main-level king suite means guests who’d rather skip the stairs still get a comfortable, private retreat, while the finished basement game room, complete with arcade games, a sleeper sofa, and a futon, turns movie nights and rainy afternoons into some of the best parts of the trip.
Location is another major advantage. Very few properties in the area sit this perfectly centered, just minutes from both Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain, yet tucked into a quiet, wooded lot that feels worlds away from the crowds. Add in fast 700 Mbps WiFi and a dedicated workspace, and this home also stands out as one of the few options genuinely built for guests who want to blend a little remote work into their mountain getaway.
Perhaps most convincing of all is the track record. The prior listing earned Airbnb Guest Favorite status with a 4.96-star rating and 97 percent five-star reviews, proof that this home consistently delivers the kind of stay guests rave about and return for. Combined with three separate decks, a patio fire table, family-ready touches like a Pack ‘n Play and toddler table, and mid-century modern mountain style throughout, Evergreen Escape offers a rare mix of comfort, space, and character that’s hard to find anywhere else in Banner Elk.
