Cpt Cook - Unique Alaskan log home in trees & wildflowers on 14-acre homestead.

The Anchor Point Captain Cook Lodge is a fully equipped log vacation home with 6 beds (2 queens and 4 twins) and 2 full baths and 1620 sq. ft. of living area. Couples will enjoy this awesome log building, and it is a favorite for larger families and other groups. The first floor has a full kitchen, a dining table that seats 8, family room with entertainment center, HD flat screen TV, leather recliner furniture and computer desk with Wi-Fi, full bath with shower/tub, laundry room with large capacity washer and dryer, and a bedroom with a log queen-size bed. A one-or-a-kind log stair leads to the large loft with four twin beds, a log queen-size bed plus a full shower/tub bath.

The front of the building has a large open porch with a gas BBQ and table and chairs. There are lots of special features in this building including extensive hand carvings and articles recognizing explorer Captain James Cook who anchored off the beach here in May 1778. Cook named this location “Anchor Point'' after his ship the HMS Resolution lost a large anchor here on May 28, 1778.

The cabin was absolutely stunning and well located for a quick drive into Homer. The listing does say 2 bedrooms but when we arrived there is only one bedroom and 5 beds in the loft with a bathroom. All in all very pleased and will be coming back to visit again!!!

Great location - great property

We loved being out away from towns but not too far to travel into Homer or take small drives to see wildlife near our location. Very comfortable and unique place to stay!

Very glad we stayed here

Very nice setting about 20 minutes from Homer. Very clean Lodge with all the amenities of home.if you get an opportunity to stay here I would recommend it.

Thank you for staying in the Captain Cook Lodge. We enjoy camp fires as well, but because of outdoor burning bans and for the safety of our guest, our use of a fire pit is very limited.

Such a lovely cabin. Had everything you'd need to make yourself right at home, even a few box fans tucked away for those of us from the lower lower-48!

Loving Alaska

This was the perfect location while traveling through Alaska! Very beautiful property. Easy check in and out. Was wonderful to talk to John and have him show us all his beautiful creations! We will definitely be back.

Lovely property

We love coming to Homer for an annual family trip each year and this spot did not disappoint. The upstairs area is a large space with 5 beds all in one open bunk area with one bathroom. The house was clean, well stoked, and perfect for what we needed for a weekend fishing trip.

John has lived in Alaska since 1984, has operated both commercial and sports fishing services, has extensive experience in the Alaska outdoors, and is a great Alaska adventures resource for guests. Reservations for Bear Paw adventure are managed by John, SR from the Bear Paw Adventure reservation office in Texas. In addition to operating Bear Paw Adventure, the family has interests & hobbies that include hunting & fishing, camping, hiking, boating, wildlife viewing, birding, gardening, log work (both log building construction and log furniture making), photography, geology, the environment, hunting for gold, snowmobiling, traveling Alaska, art, collecting (coins, rocks, stamps, fossils, etc), Alaska Native culture, and just about anything else associated with the outdoors or Alaska. Bear Paw Adventure is a member of Adventure Green Alaska.

Bear Paw Adventure’s unique log buildings are situated on 14+ acres of an old homestead site. This use of the property is the first since the homestead days. We have attempted to keep the site, to the extent practical, as we found it. Evidence of the homestead activities can still be seen on the land. The slope of the land protects the property from the brisk winds off Cook Inlet. It is a nearly wild site with lots of spruce trees, alders and wildflowers and a great place to watch for moose, eagles, ravens and other wildlife.
