The cottage was spotless, the grounds were beautiful. The inside of the cottage was beautifully decorated as well. We totally loved our stay there. S relaxing sitting in front of the fire and reading. Could spend most of the day at the rapids. Totally an amazing place. one with nature. Will definitely be back.

This was such a beautiful out of the city getaway. Incredibly clean, a beautiful fireplace and very easy to use. There was everything we needed and more. 12/10 would stay here again

If you’re looking for peace and quiet, to disconnect from the noise and connect with nature, this is the place!

Wonderful stay. Well equipped. Cozy, private. Fireplace was lively and the sound of the river was lovely. Bed comfortable, excellent shower and great hosts!

This home-away-from-home is the finest VRBO my husband and I have rented and we lots of VRBO vacations. The owners care deeply about the property. The house and property is so cute, perfect for a couples getaway from the English garden and riverfront fire pit to the extra cozy bedroom. Some of the furniture is handmade specifically for this house! The kitchen has all the basic necessities for cooking and grilling. Plus there is a great restaurant just a couple miles away (open Thursday-Sun). The washer and drier run loads quickly. The host is really quick about responding to any questions you may have. We love it so much that we came for a second vacay!

Beautiful spot and well designed. The kitchen was was well stocked, the only thing I was missing was a potato masher. Would stay here again!

Heron’s Nest is like a big hug from nature. Our two nights just wasn’t long enough. Water, fire and seclusion is what you get and bonus well-kept, comfortable, clean cottage with original artwork and craftsmanship. Looking at booking our next visit soon. Many thanks to Sherry for her hospitality.

Great Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Heron's Rest. The property was beautiful, very clean, and had everything we needed for the duration of our stay. I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation.

This is a fantastic property. Very comfortable and very relaxing. This was my first time here in the winter, and there was lots of snow, but that just added to the experience. Made use of the snowshoes and kept warm by the fire. Highly recommended!

This was probably the absolute best an most peaceful, most beautiful and most charming VRBO vacation rental experience I have had many. Beautiful views of the river, beautiful walking trails on Old Italy Road just steps down the road, peace, quiet, welcoming neighbors with big friendly dogs. Every single inch of the cottage and property has been touched with charm and purpose. The kitchen literally has everything you would reach for in your own kitchen on any given day. Not once did I utter "Where's the ___". The host is as charming as her cottage. Hope to come again!

Peaceful Stay

Location is great for exploring south shore and still close enough for a day trip to Halifax. Loved everything about this spot, the cottage, the river, the deck, BBQ, kitchen, shower, comfy bed and furniture, washer and dryer.

Sherry was very accommodating & HeronRest is exactly as pictured. Clean, tidy, fresh - very cozy. We were surprised that it was decorated for the holidays - very thoughtful and appreciated. Is an honour to stay in a space that was designed as a home - the decor has one of a kind wood work and authentic art pieces.
