Modern and DWELL type house up on a hill with great views of Santa Monica mountains. Great place to entertain, both inside and out. Feels like you are on a secluded retreat.
One acre lot, pet friendly, Dwell modern style, family friendly, large enclosed yard. BBQ with beautiful front deck all set up for alfresco dining.
4 bedrooms (one of the bedrooms is the Art Studio that has a sleeper sofa, 2 bath house in a quiet residential area. Master bathroom features a two person jacuzzi tub next to a spa like steam shower. Outdoor shower with total privacy. Set back off of a cul de sac. 25 minutes to the Malibu beach, 45 minutes to LAX. An hour and a half from Disneyland, 45 minutes from Santa Barbara. 20 minutes to Camarillo Outlet Mall. Horse ranch with horses to rent 5 minutes from the house, beautiful state park hiking and biking trails five minutes from the horse.Trail head at corner of property that opens up to hiking.
Note: There is an additional fee for over 4 adults - $50 per person, per night.

Absolutely Awesome!

We’ve booked many rental homes with our family and Modern Rustic Retreat was one of the very best we’ve experienced. The home had stunning vistas and multiple conversation areas. It had a well-appointed kitchen. We enjoyed the neighborhood, the nice neighbors, and lots of hiking trails in walking distance. We would highly recommend it.

Amazing Experience

This place was just perfect for us. We were in town for a wedding and there was more than enough room for us to relax and get ready. Just wish we had booked a few extra days to enjoy the house and the views!

We were in town for the weekend for a wedding and enjoyed our stay at this property so much! The view from the patio was fabulous! The house was clean and well stocked for convenience. Would absolutely recommend this property if considering to book.

Relax!

Such a relaxing stay—in between events for a wedding we attended. Great accommodations that perfectly fit our needs. And a visit from a family of quail made it even better!

Great stay!

I can honestly say this is probably the best VRBO we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many! It was clean, comfortable and so well stocked! You didn’t want for anything! It has a great backyard and a huge sandpit for kids to play, also well stocked with toys. My grandson loved it there! We will definitely book again!

Great view!

Amazing place. The pics are a little outdated, there is no grass anymore (for dog owners, so we took our dog to the local park to play) and there is an amazing glass wall view of the mountainside, which is way better than the photos represent. Feels like indoor/outdoor living. Good large kitchen. The chairs outside are comfy. Inside there is lots of seating but it’s all stuff you wouldn’t want to sit on for long. Space can support a good amount of people. Overall a terrific home and place to relax.

Private retreat with views & lovely landscaping

Great spot to stay in Thousand Oaks. The back yard is beautiful & comfortable. Was perfect for our family & dogs. Beautiful views and a lovely sunny family room. Nice SoCal indoor outdoor living.

Family Time and Memories

Lovely weekend getaway

We enjoyed our stay so much. It was amazing to be able to open up the big doors to the outside and feel like the house extended right into nature. Such a peaceful, special spot. We had all the amenities we needed to make our stay comfortable and fun. We can't wait to come back!

Rustic Modern Retreat

My family and I attended a wedding in Camarillo and we needed a place to stay. I was not a fan of the hotels in the area. so I looked at VRBO for additional options. The house stood out from others and seemed to fit my group perfectly. The house is very cool with great views and lots of outdoor space. I really enjoyed opening the large bi-fold doors and sipping my coffee in the back yard and watch the birds. The art studio is also a cool addition with lots of games and activities to pass the time. We did have some troubles with the A/C when we checked in but Daniel was very responsive and was able to get someone there quickly to solve the problem. I would definitely love to return to this modern Rustic retreat again!

Family gathering

We stayed three days to visit family in the area. We all loved the house and outdoor spaces. Plenty of room for 5 of us. Enjoyed eating meals outside on patio with incredible views. Kitchen well stocked. Only issue for us was the beds were not very comfortable. Overall, visit was very enjoyable.

Would recommend and come back

Overall the stay was great for a girls trip/birthday retreat. The place was nicely secluded, quaint, and spacious. The location is great; minute from local shops, and fun activities. Beautiful views from every angle. The space was clean and well kept. Each room ahead it’s own unique style which was great. The house is pet and family friendly. Great for large family gatherings, and relaxing get away. The fire pit makes for long memorable evening; greats for a night in. The view of the mountains from the secondary bedrooms is spectacular, especially from early morning. Would definitely come back.

Great House for entertainment

We've stayed in this house multiple times. The house is extremely well equipped with anything you need to prepare meals. Beds are comfortable and the location is quiet. The outdoor space is nice to just hang out with family or firends. There is a small putting green and horseshoe game to play. One room is very large with a long table that can easily seat 10 people. Stores are near by . The host is prompt with answers to question.

Family Christmas

Multi-generational family Christmas filled with fun and memories! This is the second time we have stayed and it was just as good as the first time. The location is perfect for beach days, hiking and visited the Reagan Presidential Library. Lots of space indoors and out and this year we were able to enjoy the outside table and fire pit as the rain stayed away for a few days. Daniel the host is professional and responsive. We had a great time!

My wife Hollie, two daughters Sydney and Maxine, Sandy (our yellow lab) horse name Ned and Roger our barn cat. We (only the humans) travel a lot between our houses in Portland Or. and Thousand Oaks, Ca. We are both entrepreneurs, Hollie a Communication consultant and I am architectural designer We homeschooled our children till there were 8 and 10 and considered it a privilege with to have them in our lives all the time. Now they both attend a local private school. We also co-founded and oversaw an outreach to the homeless and those in transition in the Santa Monica and Malibu area for the last 15 years (www.sosmalibu.org). As a family we love adventure and life. Snow skiing almost weekly during the winter between Mt. Hood, Or. and Snow Valley,Utah. Mountain biking in the Santa Monica mountains and Bend, Or. I am an avid marathon runner, trail runner, and hiker. We love food from all parts of the world and get to experience it often when we are in Portland visiting the famous food carts.
