This vacation home is on a sand dune directly on Lake Shore Dr, across the street from the beach access path to Lake Michigan. Wake up to views of Lake Michigan. Step out onto the 2nd floor deck off the master bedroom and have a cup of coffee as you gear up for a great day at the beach!

There is plenty of parking available in front of the house on Lake Shore Dr. From the parking area, you will climb the stairs to this 6 bedroom beach home with excellent views!

The house is decorated and furnished to give you a great home away from home!

The living room, directly across from the open kitchen, invites you to gather and be amongst the ones you love to be with. There is 1 bedroom and 1 full bath on the main level, and 4 bedrooms and 1 full bath upstairs. The basement is newly finished. There is a large bedroom, family room living area with a large screen Roku TV, a full bathroom, a desk/workspace, and a washer/dryer in the newly finished basement.

There is a deck off the family room at the front of the house and a 2nd floor rooftop deck, both overlooking Lake Michigan. There is a fire pit with a gravel surrounding in the rear of the home. The home is equipped with Wifi, Roku TVs, and cable TV in the living room (4 TOTAL TVS) so you can stay connected as much or as little as you want. The home has central A/C and a Furnace. There is a keurig coffee maker in addition to a regular pot coffee maker.

Perfect for Triathletes, Cyclists and Marathoners - The Lake offers un-rivaled facilities for swimming, great beaches. Hundreds of miles of cycling, bike friendly roads and running by the Beach... nothing better in the Midwest.. And some excellent dining and shopping nearby!

The House, 1705

The house was clean and quite adequate for our 3 day stay. We met Mr. Marshall when we arrived (he was there with a crew working on furniture and some repairs). He was very pleasant, as was the crew. We like to cook for ourselves. The stove was not completely functional -- shelves do not fit, and the interior needs a good cleaning. The towel rack above the second floor bathroom toilet is pulling of the wall and could use some attention. Rick Ginther (for the Ginther Siblings)

Family gathering

We loved the access to the lake and there was enough bedroom access to sleep 15. The kitchen was stocked for us as well. The mattresses were dated and don’t plan on using the crib there. It’s broken. Otherwise it had all the bedrooms you need and the air conditioning worked great when it got hot!

Decent property

We greatly enjoyed our time on this property. It’s steps away from beach access. There is plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our family. Great views of the Lake. Could use some updating and trimming of some trees for better views but over all decent for the price.

Lake house in Michigan City

The check in process was very easy the host sent me the info I needed a couple of days ahead of the trip so that I knew what to expect. The property does have several steps to go up from the parking area to the home, Keep this in mind when you are packing. The house was beautiful and very clean. We enjoyed are stay and we were happy to find a property that allowed dogs. If you are planning a stay in Michigan City I recommend checking it out as long as the steps don't bother you.

Great location

Great location! Being able to walk to the beach was wonderful. We had ample space for our large family. Loved having the fire pit in back. Would book again.

1930's house

The house is 1930,s. Plenty of room for a large family. Six bedrooms were adequate! Negative- 30 steps to climb to access the house. Some repair and updating is needed.

Great with a few comments

1- told to use outside basement door to access basement HOWEVER the entrance was full of old leaves, stuff, & active spiders. Banister on inside is needed 2- 2 showers in basement are advertised but there is only 1. 3- shower door in bathroom behind kitchen would not secure. Catching a washcloth in door helped 4- toaster would not work when plugged into receptacle next to refrigerator. When moved to a different socket the toaster worked.

Nice place to stay.

The house was clean and nice for the age. It was perfect for our family to have a space we could all enjoy together. We had a crawling infant and the floors were swept but not mopped. 2 of the exterior doors to the house are hollow core doors and not secure, a safety issue. The main floor deck railing was falling down, a safety hazard. Also the deck stair was falling apart, another safety hazard.

Family rental

Convenient and comfortable!

The house was clean and as described upon our arrival. The check in process was seamless. The deck was perfect for our group to hang out and the short walk to the beach was really nice even though it was early November. We stayed as a convenient location between Chicago and Notre Dame and it worked perfectly for our group. Fluid Coffee Roasters is a great coffee shop in town be sure to check them out. Thanks Colin!

60th birthday weekend

The house was in a great spot with a nice view of Lake Michigan from the deck. The living room/dining room/kitchen area was great for a large group of friends celebrating a 60th birthday. Plenty of seats and space at the kitchen table. We also enjoyed the fire pit in the back We were very surprised and overwhelmed when we realized there was no other way to bring all our stuff for the weekend into the house except to carry it all up over 30 very steep steps.

Spacious and beautifully situated big lake getaway

The only thing wrong with this vacation was that it was not long enough. The house is lovely and spacious, The views of the lake are great, coffee on the deck was sublime, sunset on the beach was even better. Just be advised that there is a significant climb up concrete steps so people with mobility issues need to look elsewhere. The house sleeps something like 14 or 16, and even if you had that many people, the house and decks (yes, deckS) give more than enough space that you wouldn’t feel crowded. Can’t say enough, great vacation spot.

This cottage is not what is advertised

We were so excited to stay in Michigan City and even possibly rebooked for next year. The pictures advertised are old. The house was run down and not clean at all. The router was broken, so no TV, or internet for our extended weekend. We did not feel comfortable replacing the equipment and asked for a repair to happen. It did not. Even worse, a toilet ran and ran and did not flush, the beach equipment promised was dirty and broken, the outside of the kitchen cabinets were sticky with dirt. We were given only one key. I took pictures of all of this stuff. As a long time Vrbo renter, I was very disappointed and expect the host to reimburse me for some of my money. This has never happened before and I’ve rented in multiple states.

Great location, plenty of room, a few quirks

We had two families staying here together and had plenty of room for all 11 of us. The basement has been finished and the bedroom and sitting area down there is nice. There was room to spread out. It is a short walk to the beach across the street and we could watch the sun set over the water from the deck. There were some sand toys, beach chairs, and other items already at the house. We enjoyed the fire pit in the back. One issue we had was getting the temperature comfortable. When we arrived it was so hot upstairs it was almost too hot to sleep up there. It was a little cooler upstairs the next day, but it was still warm upstairs while freezing in the basement. This is an older house with it's quirks, ie. doors can be hard to open, stairs are narrow and steep. There is a steep flight of stairs from from the street parking up to the house, so be prepared to carry your things up/down the stairs. There was only enough dishwasher or laundry detergent for 2 loads, so make sure you bring more if you're going to run the dishwasher/ washer more than 2x. Overall, we had a good time. We would recommend bringing fans for the upstairs.

Weekend Getaway

Nice view with long flight of stairs

Nice place with great view of the lake and walking distance to the beach. The stairs to access the property are at least two stories and we didn't realize from the pictures. We had some seniors that we challenged.
