THE PONDEROSA ON CHALK CREEK Creekside Mountain Home

This beautiful home features decks on three sides, showcasing Chalk Creek, a greenbelt, and some of Colorado’s most stunning peaks. With five bedrooms (3 kings and 2 queens), there is plenty of space for 10 guests to sleep comfortably in their own rooms. For added flexibility, the home also includes 2 sofa sleepers and a pack-n-play—perfect for larger groups or families. The game room offers pool and foosball, making it a fun spot for guests of all ages. For a true mountain getaway, this location is hard to beat!

In accordance with our Chaffee County license, this home is not available for events such as weddings or large parties. Small gatherings are welcome as long as they are respectful of the neighborhood and do not exceed the maximum number of guests on the reservation.

Please note: VRBO’s presentation of nightly rates is not always accurate. Our base rate covers up to 8 guests, with an additional charge of $30 per person, per night for each guest beyond that. VRBO may list this as an “Additional Guest Fee,” but it is included in the rental total. The host has no control over how VRBO displays fees.

Great house for a girls getaway trip! The seating by the creek was the favorite spot! Super close to the hotsprings and downtown.

Wonderful place for a multi-generational family mountain vacation. Spacious; with lots of room for both active and contemplative times. The sound of Chalk Creek is such an asset. Easy access for lots of activities.

We had six people in our party, and there was plenty of room for everyone and multiple seating areas indoor and outdoors. The kitchen and the blackstone grill made for great meals. The creek is beautiful right outside, but also some amazing hikes in the area. We would definitely return here for another get together!

Our stay at this property was fantastic. Waking up every morning with the view of the mountains was a great bonus. Also, having the creek right outside the back of the house was great. The house was laid out well and the kitchen was well equipped. An extra bonus was all the amenities close buy. We had hiking a short 7 minutes away, and also took advantage of the hot springs that were only 5 minutes from the house. It also only took 15 minutes to get to Buena Vista for food and fun.

Great house! Plenty of spaces for hanging out and playing games inside the house. The layout was great for seeing everyone. Outside had several wonderful places to hang out by the river. Awesome firepit area. So much wildlife to see including deer and turkeys. The host was receptive when we had questions. Highly recommend!

My family enjoyed the facilities and convenient location. There were 10 family members and the house had ample room inside and out. We really enjoyed the sitting areas outside. The property was beautiful comfortable.

The directions and check-in info were very complete and easy. The house was well-equipped and furnished. The property was inviting and comfy. The beautiful Chalk Creek prompted us to sit outside and enjoy the weather and the peaceful sounds of the water.

Great indoor and outdoor space

Our family had a fantastic week a the Ponderosa on Chalk Creek. The cabin is very spacious and the outdoor space is beyond great. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

The house was just as described. It was very roomy and the kitchen was top notch. The outdoor seating and amenities would have been wonderful but in November it was too cold to enjoy them. We did see deer and wild turkeys on the property while we were there.Make sure you read the manual, closely, otherwise you won't find the WIFI password.

Great Location

The property is in a great location right on Chalk Creek. Really enjoyed the multiple decks and outdoor space. Plenty of room in the house for our group and beds were comfortable. Close to Buena Vista and right next to the hot springs.

Wonderful retreat

The property is wonderful. Creekside setting, fire pit, well-equipped kitchen. My wife and I brought daughter and son-in-law and five young adult grandchildren. We will definitely come back. Property Manager Renee was a delight to deal with.

Lovely home perfectly located on the river

Highly recommend this stay. Large, comfortable house is located a short walk from Mt Princeton and nestled right on the river. Our group enjoyed the house and the area. Very nice host answered all my questions. I will likely rent this property again.

Perfect family getaway

Beautiful home in a tranquil setting.......Morning coffee on the deck overlooking Chalk Creek and Family dinners at the large dining table in the evening! Hiking, fishing, swimming, nearby with Salida and Buena Vista only a short drive away.

Making Family Memories

Our group consisted of ages 6-82. The house set up was perfect and spacious for all and the location offered a lot of activities. Would definitely stay here again.

Mountain Dream

Such a gorgeous setting and an outstanding house. 4 beautiful bedrooms very nicely decorated. Great place for large family gatherings. Hiking for all levels.

Excellent Home

Home was exactly as advertised. Excellent kitchen and amazing game collection.Perfect location for enjoying fishing and ghost town nearby. Host was extreemly helpful and no problems getting into home or internet connection. Home uses starlink.

Great week

We loved the central location with our favorite activities: Salida, Buena Vista, St.Elmo, Chalk Creek/Lake. Nice kitchen, sitting areas inside and outside with the fire pit and sitting area by the creek. Very roomy house for everyone to enjoy without feeling cramped at all.

Second Time is the Charm

This is our family’s second year in a row at this cabin; we love it! The cabin is spacious and well equipped to handle a group of all ages. The outdoor seating options by the river are beautiful and serene. The cabin’s location provided our family with a variety of close options to hike, fish, kayak, swim and shop.
