We enjoyed our time. The view was beautiful and exploring the yard and swimming I. The hot tub were highlights for our toddler.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The house is well-equipped including the kitchen which we used for all meals. The driveway, though steep, is in good condition. The a/c was sufficient for the warm weather, the beds were comfortable and there was enough hot water for both of us. And speaking of hot, the hot tub worked well.

Very secluded. Cabin was well-appointed. Beds were comfortable. River access was nice. My only suggestion would be brighter indoor lighting. Otherwise everything was perfect

Excellent stay! The host responded quickly to our questions. The view from the house is stunning, and the river view down the driveway is beautiful as well. The kitchen is impressively stocked with cookware and basics like olive oil, salt, and pepper. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen made a great gathering spot for everyone.

Wonderful cabin

We had another restorative week—this is a welcoming and comfortable spot for reading, puzzling, and cooking big dinners—and most importantly for enjoying the many moods of the mountains.

Mountain Dream!

This place is semi secluded and beautiful! Access to the river was amazing. I needed some time away from city life in Florida and this was the perfect place to do it. We truly enjoyed our stay!

Relaxing with a view and river

House with character and amazing view of a mountain range to watch the clouds roll in and out with amazing sunsets sometimes. The river is great too, wildlife everywhere.

Autumn overlook

Peaceful retreat enjoyed our time very much Serenity beautiful and captured photographical images of landscape. Enjoy the meadow and landscaping and serene atmosphere.

Our stay was wonderful! The pictures of the home does not show the actual greatness of the home and the property. The kitchen was amazing and I was not expecting the largeness and openness of the kitchen and the living space. Well stocked and clean. The bedrooms and bathrooms are great and the beds are comfortable. The sunporch and back porches were very nice. Especially the mountain view from the back porch / hot tub. The property itself was beautiful and interesting. The walk/short drive down to the river was scenic and nice. Great for fishing in the fall. We didn't want to leave!

A gorgeous secluded cabin

The property was incredible. It was very secluded and had an amazing view from the side porch. The river front part of the property was beautiful. I plan on coming back during the summer to enjoy the river more.

Our stay in the Overlook cabin

The location was perfect for us — just a short walk from our daughter’s house. The place was peaceful with a great view of the mountains. And we loved the big kitchen, with all that we needed for cooking meals.Gary, the property manager, was responsive when we needed help figuring out the heating system and gave us good advice about keeping the pipes from freezing.We would stay there again.

Paradise on the South Toe

This was our 3rd or 4th stay at the Overlook, so clearly we love the place. The view, the hottub, the swimming hole, and the kitchen are the biggest highlights. The driveway is steep but no problem for our Subaru, and very much worth the climb. We are sad to leave but very much hope to stay there again!

Serenity 2

Privacy excellent, view marvelous, travel to city and key sight seeing wonderful. Friendly community and home provided numerous areas where all family members could relax and enjoy theirselves without being in each other’s personal space zone which is a must with group table for interaction and jacuzzi.

Amazing view and tons of fireflies!

This was the second time we stayed at this particular property. We love the seclusion and the view of Celo Knob. The fireflies and stars at night are beautiful. There is a nice swimming hole down on the south toe. We would love to see a roof built back on the porch so we can enjoy that area during rain showers. We would stay here again in the future.

Restorative mountain retreat

The Overlook is well named— the view is breathtaking. This was our fifth visit, and we settled right in to our beloved spot. Though it rained until the last day, it didn’t matter! We cooked up a storm, puzzled at the gorgeous long table, visited nearby Penland School of Crafts and slightly farther Asheville, and lounged for hours in the deep, soft leather sofas with our books. Hot tub for some, naps for others, and when the sun came out we sketched and watercolored to our hearts’ content. Though this cabin was spared, Helene hit the area hard, and there were sobering reminders everywhere we drove; but we were glad to contribute in a small way to this beautiful part of the world.
