Wonderful cozy cottage with mountain views. Borders Gila National Forest.

The cottage is clean comfortable safe home with beautiful nights with a clear view of the stars. The mountain trails into the Gila National Forest are out the back gate. a gazebo, fire pit and propane grill are there at all times. Hunting and fishing! join us for a New Mexico mountain adventure. We are close to historic Pinos Altos and the Gila Cliff Dwellings. We are 40 minutes from Silver City with many restaurants, Pubs, University, galleries and museums. Ten minutes from lake Roberts. Tour of the Gila and mountain biking! Private tennis court for your use! No extra cgarge for your dog and no host fee.

Hiker’s paradise

Looking to explore near Gila Cliff Dwellings, then this is an excellent choice. Hiking trails literally out the back gate or drive a few miles to check out some great trails. Cliff dwellings are less than an hour away with lots of trails along the way. Great hosts with Brian being an amazing ambassador for the area. Thanks to Shirleyfor the homemade treat on arrival.

Perfect

We had a great time. Beautiful hiking and excellent accommodation. The bed was super comfortable. We used the gas grill and cooked all our meals.

Gila hospitality

This lovely efficiency cottage is more attractive by the warmth & thoughtfulness of the hosts, Shirley & Marty. The cottage is well-appointed, quiet, has large windows for volumes of natural light, & provides easy access to the bordering Gila National Forest for walking trails (the hosts even offer walking sticks/poles to borrow). The Mimbres River valley nearby was also shimmering with fall colors. Choose The Cottage for comfortable lodging while exploring this national wilderness area.

Relaxing

The property is beautifully put together. You can’t help but admire everything around you. The cottage is beautiful, from the build to the antique decorations to the beautifully crafted stained glass. We enjoyed every bit of our stay and even enjoyed the wildlife around the area. It’s one of those places you wish you didn’t have to leave. We will be back again.

Serene getaway in the Gila Wilderness Area

Lovely property tucked away so close to hiking/exploring the Gila with all the amenities....comfy bed, kitchen offered everything we needed plus gas grill, good TV reception (which was a plus since it rained really hard our first day) and AC in case we needed it for hot summer days. Host provided welcome delicious homemade bread and wine and was most helpful. Highly recommend and loved our stay.

Wonderful Quiet Getaway

We spent 5 nights at this cottage. It is a beautiful place. Shirley is a pleasure to deal with and so accommodating. The cottage was clean. There is a mini frig, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, and coffee pod machine, pots, pans, utensils, even coffee filter...Ms. Shirley really has the cottage equipped with everything. The only thing I would say you might want is paper plates (if that is your thing), and a toothbrush. Ms. Shirley even left homemade muffins, wine, and some candy. We had a fabulous stay and hated leaving. We will recommend this place to family, friends and plan to return again when we can.

Beautiful property, very responsive hosts!

This beautiful property was accessible for our disabled child, which is a huge plus for us!! The property was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the hosts were very responsive to some questions and issues we had. Incredibly responsive, generous, and pleasant—we will be booking again for our next trip to Mimbres!!

Adorable cottage! Great property for dogs !

Everything was perfect from check in to check out. Shirley, Marty and Brian were so welcoming. My dog had lots of room to run and had a playmate with their dog Bailey.

Fantastic getaway in a beautiful cottage!

My wife and I loved the property and the owners. We felt welcome in the cottage from the moment we made the reservation and then later when we moved in for a few days. The cottage was decorated in wonderful detail and personal touches. You can feel the love that went into this property. Each nook had something interesting to inspect. And the stained glass by the owner highlighted everything! The appliances were small, but complete. They were perfect for what we needed on a long weekend getaway. Each night my wife and I spent sitting around the firepit talking about life. It was nice to drop the digital screens for a few days and actually talk with each other. However, the WiFi worked perfectly for my Zoom doctor's meeting and I was able to take a glimpse at the golf tournament from time to time on the satellite TV. We fished at Lake Roberts and hit a local restaurant for some pie. Silver City is an easy drive from the Cottage where we went antiquing and grabbed a microbeer on a lovely Saturday afternoon. The biggest and friendliest asset of the property were the owners who were perfect hosts. They are great people with interesting lives. We enjoyed seeing them if we needed anything or for a friendly chat. They also gave us our private space when we didn't need anything. I look forward to returning in a few months when we need to escape the desert heat. The weekend is one of the fondest times my wife and I have had.

Comfy Cabin with Pellet Stove

This was a great space for two people. Very spacious and all we needed. The backyard has a full size tennis court with a nice view. The pellet stove kept us warm at night! Love our stay here. Olivia

Perfect Gila get away

We spent 2 lovely nights at The Cottage. The Cottage is cozy yet roomy, remote but not isolated. I felt connected as it is near other homes, (being tooo off the beaten path feels isolated) but not so connected that I actually saw anyone. The homemade bread was a great and delicious touch. There is a gate to the Wilderness about a 3 minute walk away. A great place to watch the sunrise! Have already recommended it to friends.

Wonderful cottage!

Beautiful cozy cottage that is close to City of Rocks and Gila Cliff dwellings. Perfect spot to explore the Gila national forest too. Homemade bread was waiting for us and it was delicious!

Quaint, clean, and beautiful cottage!

I stayed here with my husband and two pups, and we were blown away with our experience! The cottage itself is incredibly well-built, well-kept, and beautifully decorated. Everything was clean, pristine, and smelled fantastic. The location was awesome, too, with plenty of recreation opportunities nearby. We were greeted with wine and homemade bread, and the host was easy to communicate with throughout. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone staying in the Gila National Forest area!

We are Marty and Shirley Mize. Marty is a retired Hot metal crane operator at the Copper mine, currently is Fire Chief of the Upper Mimbres Fire department. Shirley is a retired Director of Cardiopulmonary/Neuro at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. Currently serving on the board of Camp Thunderbird. We have 4 wonderful grown sons and three grandsons. We love playing tennis, walking and collecting antiques and making stained glass.
