Welcome to Buxton Cottage – The antithesis of modern day Hatteras Island. Come enjoy this 1950’s beach cottage fully renovated with all the modern amenities. This two bedroom, one bath getaway will cater to all your needs.

Relax at the heart of the island. Buxton is centrally located between all of the best spots to kiteboard, wind surf, fish, beach access, surf, paddleboard, walk, hike, and bike. Just a few minute's drive to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and beaches. You can walk to the Lighthouse beaches, and restaurants. Everything is within walking or biking distance.

Just 1.8 miles from one of the premier kiteboarding locations, Kite Point. Buxton Cottage is 10 lots in from the Atlantic Ocean. Walk to the ocean and enjoy your morning cup of coffee while watching the sunrise... Then, on a southwest wind day, enjoy 6.8 miles down winder from Kite Point to North Avon pull out. Or even further if you’d like! We are sure this beach cottage will meet all your getaway needs!

This is a triplex building (3 units) and The Maiden is located upstairs with a flight of stairs to the front door. The Maiden has two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen fully equipped, TV, internet, Wi-Fi, all linens are provided (4 bath towels and each bed has 1 set of sheets), complimentary items such as one roll of toilet paper, coffee filters and trash bags. Puzzles, cards. Parking and outside seating on the balcony. It is perfect for 2-3 people. However, maximum number is 4. This unit does not have a washer / dryer.

IMPORTANT: Perfect for 2-3 people. Maximum occupancy of 4 people is strictly enforced. Buxton Cottage is NOT to be used for group events or gatherings. SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED. Failure to comply will result in eviction without a refund.

Parents 40th Anniversary

Both of my parents had nothing but wonderful things to say about their trip - both the island and the rental. I was told that everything was incredibly clean and cozy and exactly as described/pictured. Would absolutely recommend.

My wife and I were looking for a place to stay on short notice. "The Maiden" fit the bill of being in a nice location and not breaking the bank. The place was clean. Furnishings weren't luxurious, but were plenty adequate for this price point. The owner communicated well. Overall, staying at the Maiden was a good experience. We'd stay here again.

We love The Maiden

We loved every minute of our stay at The Maiden! The house was very clean, in a FANTASTIC location and absolutely beautiful! Linda made the house very welcoming and has a great binder filled with tons of information. We’ve never stayed somewhere so well organized and welcoming. We will be back!

Great place

Wonderful Place to Stay

Stayed here with my husband and our two kids and it was perfect. It had everything we needed, was so clean and was very close to the beach. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful place!

The property was nicely decorated with a beach theme. The review said about a 2min walk to the beach, however, I think we did it in about a minute. And we're older, Hahaha! The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and preparing meals. The beds were super comfortable for a great night's sleep. We watched movies in the living room area at night. The couch was pretty, but not very comfortable. That would be the only thing I'd change. There was only one flight of stairs with sensor lights for night time. Nice deck! I drank coffee there several times. There was also a place to rinse off sand from the beach and a storage unit under the deck for our chairs and things. The owner was so great to work with. She always responded in a timely manner, if I had a question. We were also close to some shops and restaurants. We had the greatest time and look forward to coming back for our next trip to Outerbanks. I highly recommend this sweet place!

Sun, fun, and calm

The Maiden is an excellent place to stay. Very quiet area. The apartment was just the right size for two adults and a child. Beautiful inside and out. Great parking. Extreamly short walk to the beach. Communication with the host was easy and pleasant. Would recommend to family and friends.

Clean Beyond expectations!

What an absolute cute little 2 BR 1 B apartment ! And sooooo soooooo clean ! Thank you 1 minute down the private road to the Beach which you can see from one of the Bedrooms. And if you choose the old lighthouse road instead of the new - you can walk to the Hatteras Lighthouse within 30 mins . No car needed Very convenient located to shops and restaurants. The recommendation from the Host was a great feature to have - that has not disappointed and was spot on We will be definitely back - 10 stars

We enjoyed our first stay at the Maiden in Buxton. Due to the storms in March, the beach at the end of the road has been significantly eroded, but we still managed to find an area within walking distance to enjoy the beach. It’s a great location for walking to shops and restaurants. A few recommendations for the cottage, 1). Cutting board 2). Vegetable peeler 3). Hose to attach to the spicket outside to clean your feet

Perfect location, only a few houses down from the beach.

Very clean with all the necessary items to make a great place to stay while at the beach. Good location being in Buxton makes it close to every thing on Hatteras Island. Good communication with the owners.

Pre-vacation Vacation

We stayed for 2 days before a week long vacation on the island with friends. This property is in a great location, perfect for 2. Fairly private for being close to other units. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing location!

The Maiden was the perfect location for our first stay at OBX. Perfect size with 2 bedrooms and a living room/kitchen area. Outdoor shower was perfect for coming home from the beach. And location location location. A literal two minute walk down the street and you are on the beach! Would definitely recommend this place!

Awesome location near the beach

We loved that this cute little apartment, perfect for the 4 of us, and located just a couple hundred feet away from the beach! Our host was incredibly wonderful to work with. A few comments for improvement - the front left kitchen stove burner doesn't work, we were supplied with 4 toilet paper rolls, not the advertised 1, and we didn't have enough bathroom hand soap for the week. The kitchen would also benefit from having a cutting board. Overall, wonderful cute place. If we're ever in the area again, we'd choose your apartment!
