Relax on the deck and watch the local wildlife- moose, elk, deer, foxes and birds. 2 story chalet home is the perfect place to have fun, relax and make memories.

Columbine Lake is a private, covenant-controlled community. Renters are not allowed to use the Clubhouse, gazebo, horse pasture, OHV’s or Columbine Lake. Keep in mind when booking, that this property is located in a quiet neighborhood with owner residents. Plan on using one of the three local lakes (Grand, Granby and Shadow Mountain) for all your lake activities.

Smelly Mountain House

If you would love to stay in smelly and stinky house, do reserve this place. No maintenance and furniture is too old for this.

Mountain vacation

Our stay was excellent, the house was beautiful, clean and peaceful. Rebecca was an excellent host!! The town is beautiful as well.

Great location/well stocked

This place was great for getting to the parks and the homes were planned to do. It was probably the best stocked VRBO location we’ve stayed at. Communication was quick and helpful.

We had a wonderful time in Grand Lake and this home.It met all our family needs.It was well equipped and the owner baked us a wonderful cake for us.We will return for another vacation!

Great stay

Upon my arrival I found the property to be tidy and it had everything I needed. The wifi password was wrong on my paperwork so I emailed the owner and had a response within an hour with the correct password. Rocky Mountain National Parlk is minutes away. Had a great stay.

Relaxing getaway

The house was just as expected. It had everything we needed. The location was convenient to Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. Kids claimed the upstairs and loved it.

Very nice cabin with everything you need.

We will definitely be back to stay at this cabin again. Easy access to all 4 lakes, plenty of room with everything you need to stay a week or more. 5 star rating, I would give 6 but there no more stars on the survey.

Much needed get away

We were in need of a quiet get away. This was the place. Everything we needed to just unwind. The house was just as listed. A well supplied kitchen. Comfortable beds. I had several questions before arriving and each were answered. Really enjoyed Grand Lake's shops.

Nice getaway spot

We really liked it! Smaller than we thought it would be but we enjoyed our time. Fully stocked kitchen and large dining table which was nice for meals in. Day one we learned you cannot snowmobile out as the trail is closed. Not well marked closed but it is closed and we got $100 ticket for trying!

great stay

Clean, comfy, exactly as listed. Kitchen well equipped. Helpful and communicative management. One tip: if you come in the winter and the thermostats are turned down low, do not be tempted to turn them up to 70 degrees. The house gets very warm and does not require the heat to be turned up very much.

Nice space but some disappointments

Was a nice stay however despite reaching out to the host, there was no internet the entire time so I had to upgrade my data plan to use hotspot to watch TV and work. Some construction in the area so there was unpleasant noise in the morning.

Great property! Just needs a little TLC

We scored reservations at this property after Booking dot com canceled our previous reservation unexpectedly. It's a very cute little home nestled in the Columbine Lake neighborhood. It was very well stocked with numerous amenities. Both bathrooms had shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, and towels. The kitchen had dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, coffee, you name it! We didn't use them, but there was a multitude of board games in the living room as well. The only thing I would improve would be the overall cleanliness of the property. We misplaced the TV remote our last night there, and found it amidst in the couch cushions covered in crumbs and small toys from previous tenants. There was a dead moth on the indoor staircase when we arrived, and our son vacuumed the entire basement after that. Overall though, we had a wonderful stay! Rebecca is lovely to work with. She is very communicative and left us very well informed. She even accommodated our early check in request, which we are very grateful for!

Great house! Would book again!

The house was perfect for my traveling party (4 adults and two kids). The upstairs was newly remodeled and had amazing views. We had lots of visitors while on our trip (deer, chipmunks, moose). There is no AC in the house so some days it got a little toasty upstairs (even with windows open) but nothing unbearable. The house was perfect for us and just a short drive to town. Any questions we had- the owner replied back within a timely manner. The only suggestion I have is to update your listing with all of amenities the home offers. I was unsure if there would be shampoo, conditioner, coffee pot, cooking utensils, games, extra blankets, air mattress, etc.... and you had all those things!

Very Impressed

Our time in Grand Lake Colorado was absolutely amazing. The cabin is the perfect mix of 'rural get-away' and traditional comforts. It has beautiful bathrooms that seem to have been freshly renovated and the kitchen is fully equipped to fill the needs of any family. The bedrooms were very clean and the bed were also very comfortable. One thing to note is the lack of a TV; however, with the location of this cabin being situated near so many outdoor activities we found no desire for a TV. The neighborhood is very quite and the neighbors themselves are extremely friendly. Once, driving in the neighborhood to the cabin our car got suck in snow. Within 5 minutes, 2 different neighbors were outside helping us get our car unstuck. This level of friendliness and hospatility is really comforting, especially if it is your first time dealing with an environment like Grand Lake Colorado. Overall, we loved our stay here in Grand Lake and will most certainly be staying at this wonderful cabin again!

Comfortable

Enjoyed this for a mother/daughters weekend. Just a few MINOR suggestions...a screen door would be nice upstairs on sliding glass door, to keep the critters out and breeze coming through. The bathroom fan lights were out-found the bulb to replace the downstairs bathroom, but didn't get around to upstairs. More kitchen towels would be nice to keep hands and dishes dry. Only saw the one. Wouldn't recommend adults sleeping on the bottom bunk futon-not comfortable padding. Downstairs couch was way better than futon. Kitchen could also use complete set of measuring spoons. Overall very comfortable and clean.-nothing MAJOR to make the stay less enjoyable. Thank you for being a nice hostess Rebecca-the coffee amenities were great! Will definitely recommend!

Worst VRBO ever

We pulled up to the home, it was sim a dirt road. Which was apropos for the place itself. The doorknob was falling off the entrance way, the entry was a dark, gloomy, smelly downstairs sleeping/living area - so we quickly took our belongings upstairs. We immediately noticed that the WiFi didn’t work. The owner never gave us the heads up and we felt that that move was very shady of her. We did call her and she let us know that she was working on getting the router fixed and that she’s md call us as soon as there was word. Well, we couldn’t wait. So we packed up our belongings and left. All in all we were there for 20 minutes. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Not only did we leave, but we contacted the owner and she refused to reimburse us for the last two days of our stay, which speaks volumes about her character and the reason why this place is an absolute dump. Beware!!!

Cute, quiet cabin with great proximity to lakes

This is a very cute cabin tucked into a neighborhood around Columbine Lake. It’s a quiet neighborhood, in easy proximity to the amenities of Grand Lake village (restaurants, supermarkets, bike/boat rentals) and, of course, all of the lakes in the area. It’s also a stone’s throw from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The house is on two levels, with a kitchen, dining area, living room, master bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a bedroom, bathroom and living room downstairs. The kitchen is very modern (granite countertops, sink with sprayer faucet, dishwasher, etc.) and is very well stocked with everything you would need for meal preparation. The dining area is a great spot to sit with a cup of coffee in the morning, with nice windows, surrounded by trees. You should be aware that the bed in the master bedroom is a bit small and dips toward the center. I’m sure it’s fine for people who sleep soundly, but for those who may be restless at altitude, it may not be the best night sleep. Also, despite the pictures, there are no curtains in either of the bedrooms. You may want to bring eye covers if you are sensitive to the light in the morning. Of course, if you’re getting up early to go hiking, there’s no problem! The owner, Rebecca is absolutely fantastic. She's super responsive and full of helpful tips. It's a pleasure to rent from such a nice and professional person. Thank you Rebecca!

Owner is Awful - do NOT recommend

I was super excited to stay at this property based on the pictures/description, and it really is a fine property/home. I come from Wisconsin where lawns and landscaping is the norm, so the unkept outside of the home wasn't impressive when we arrived (but that is how all of the houses were, so nothing out of the ordinary there). The inside has many updates, but not complete - both fireplaces are mid-renovation, and appear to be so for some time since the pictures show the same. The quality of the updates is poor - towel rack pulling out of the wall, holes in the wall, carpet edges not tucked/finished. I am giving such a poor review for the awful owner, Rebecca, who was terrible at communicating and has not yet returned my security deposit (stayed over 2 weeks ago); when booking the property, she stated I would receive the security deposit within 72 hours of our stay. I stayed in 2 other Home Away properties during this trip, and she was the only one who did not send any sort of welcoming email/text/reminders about check-in time when our arrival date came near. This wasn't really a big deal. After our stay is when I became more annoyed with Rebecca. I texted, called, and emailed her many times inquiring about my security deposit, and no reply whatsoever until I threatened a poor review. Even then, she asked if I received her email after our stay (she did not send one, I triple checked), and didn't even answer my question about my security deposit. When booking this property, I did negotiate a price with her to match another property I was looking at in Grand Lake, so when she sent me the quote it did not spell out the security deposit separately, like it probably should've. So, I called her to clarify and she stated since she had changed the price to match my request, it wouldn't let her split it out, but the security deposit would be returned. Needless to say, I have not seen the deposit and Rebecca has not given me any explanation as to why I have not received it. There is absolutely no reason why I should not have received it. In addition, Rebecca texted prior to and during my stay asking if we would clean the home & change/wash the sheets prior to leaving, even though I paid for cleaning!! Again, not a big deal if that was discussed at booking, but I had specifically stated in my quote request that cleaning be included. Due to her terrible communication skills, untrustworthiness, and disrespect, I would highly NOT recommend this property!

Hello, my name is Rebecca and I bought this house back in 1992. My family and I have been coming up here since my kids were babies. This cabin has so many memories and this location is our favorite in all of Colorado! There is nothing else like the Mountains in this area. My family and I can be found camping, backpacking, fishing, riding horses, running, biking and hiking in our free time-- all of which we do a lot here in Grand Lake. I am excited to open our house up for all of our guests to see and enjoy this part of Colorado and all the outdoorsy things that Grand Lake has to offer.

I bought this home 23 years ago because my family and I love the outdoors, and we love Colorado. This house is in the perfect location to get to all the hiking spots, fishing spots, skiing resorts (Granby Ranch and Winter Park) hiking trails throughout the Rocky Mountain National Park and Arapahoe National Forest) biking and snowmobile trails within minutes! . Or go into town and shop, browse art galleries, or the local museum, eat at the many restaraunts, listen to live music at the park, rent a boat or kayak on Grand Lake or attend a production at the new Repertoire Theatre. Of course hiking, fishing and attending the many offerings at the nearby RMNP visitor center and viewing wildlife. We also bought this home to just come up and relax. We also love to make the fire, play games, and roast smore's on those cold or rainy days.

This area is one of a kind. The neighborhood is bordered by Arapahoe National Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park. Both are so incredible with the combination of the wildlife and the incredible mountains and scenery. There are so many camping spots all around this area in case you want to get out and be under the stars. This house is right across the street (literally) from the Grand Lake Golf Course. The house is located in the private community of Columbine Lake. Another positive aspect of this house is the fact that it is located 5 minutes away from the quaint and fun town of Grand Lake. If you are craving the legendary Grand Lake Chocolate's ice cream, fear not, it's only a 5 minute drive away! Because this house is so close to Grand Lake, one can also go hang out at the beach at Grand Lake quite easily and fast. The paddle boarding, fishing, and arcade playing (at the Grand Lake dock.)
