This is a historical and lovely place to stay. Not only does the house have a history, but the property is beautiful and relaxing with a pond a short distance off the patio. Even though the property is secluded, it is near shops, restaurants and civil war battlefields. It was a joy to stay here!

Nice Stay

We enjoyed our stay at Spy Hill house. It was a quick stop-over on a long drive and such a great option instead of a hotel room. Everything we needed was there. Good blend of historic plus modern comfort, close to the interstate but private with trees and the pond out back. We were grateful for a local restaurant that delivered pizza so we didn't have to go out again; we also ordered the breakfast basket and it was amazing! So much food - all of it delicious!

Can’t say enough good things. We are happily enjoying a piece of important history away from the madding crowds…away from any crowds, thankfully. Love Stevensridge and the beautifully maintained and restored properties here. We are touring the battlefields tomorrow with an historian and have learned about the Battle of Spotsylvania by being here. The Spy Hill house is unique and and perfect for two people…warm, peaceful, and private with a pond in the backyard. Lovely amenities provided by the owners. We will be back at some point…would love to experience this area in late fall or even in the winter. So much history here. We planned this trip to Spotsylvania as a stopping point while on our way to Maryland to visit our son. Having driven through here on the way to DC and and Maryland before, we decided to make it a destination on our way up from NC. This was a great decision!

The view and quiet

Beautiful home. We rent spy hill anytime we're driving home and passing through Fredericksburg for a quick meal and rest. Worth every penny.

Cozy wooded retreat, sparkling clean

Sweet getaway with the convenience of nearby city yet the feel of being in a secluded and private space. Last minute reservation was handled with ease and efficiency.

Beautiful and quiet

Great location near Fredericksburg, but not too close. Beautiful setting and very quiet. Check in was the easiest process I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend it!

Location is beautiful, the owner, Jennifer, could not have been more helpful and truly bent over backwards to ensure we got everything we needed from our booking. Overall, a truly great place run by people who truly care. Thank you so much!

Unique historic property

Spy Hill House, and Stevenson Ridge in general, is a wonderful place to relax and explore history. The owner has acquired historic buildings and renovated them into these one of a kind cabins. Think of it as an amazing hotel room rather than a house, though. The "kitchen" is just a small microwave and a large mini-fridge. You won't be cooking here unless you like popcorn for dinner. But the moment you step in, you will be transported back in time to the 18th century. Both floors have antique and working wood fireplaces, and the house smells of cedar and old wood, in a good way. Fortunately, there's A/C and wifi (both a bit temperamental) and a modern bathroom, so it's not too rustic. I loved sitting on the patio watching herons fish in the pond. This is an excellent place to stay for visiting Fredericksburg and battlefields. It even has some of the best preserved Civil War earthworks on the property. I'll definitely be returning to Stevenson Ridge.
