Cielo Vista! Amazing San Juan Mountain retreat

This Log home with a massive glass prow-front overlooking the majestic San Juan Mountain range is the second to last house at the end of the road. A large deck extends all the way across the front of the house making it easy to find a spot to sit and enjoy the view. It has two bedrooms downstairs, with two baths, one of which is in the master bedroom. The upstairs loft is spacious with one queen and two twin beds and plenty of room left for a desk, game table and TV viewing area.
*Getting Here* If you are flying...Montrose Airport is only 1 hr. away, Grand Junction is 2 hrs. and Denver is 6.5-7 hrs away.

Beautiful house, but the address on the listing is incorrect. It was very hard to locate initially, but ultimately a great place to stay…if you can find it.

Hi Sam, sorry about the confusion with the address. A year or so ago the county actually changed a few addresses up here in this cabin is one of them. I immediately made the changes on VRBO in Airbnb on the directions and welcome information they get sent to every Renter. The actual Airbnb listing may still have the old address and I have not yet been able to figure out a way to make that change. I will work on that some more so no one else gets confused by this

We stayed for 5 nights. Absolutely beautiful setting, and a very nice and clean place. Plenty of room for our family of 7. Great central location for day trips to Mesa Verde, Telluride, and Ouray/Silverton/Durango.

I loved our stay here, it was beautiful every morning to look out of the window and the place was just as described. We felt right at home. My toddler had the most fun upstairs as there is a kids area to play with so many toys and a tent. We will definitely be back to Cielo Vista with more family!

The. Views. This house showcases the views of the San Juan mountains, and it doesn’t disappoint. Huge deck to enjoy the outdoors (we were there in summer), inside should the weather not be favorable. The windows do make it warm later in the day, so the shades help, and ability to open the lower windows, too. In the rooms: ceiling fans and ultimate evening cool down works, too (no a/c, so not a drawback). Plenty of cooking utensils, and starters. The upstairs has three beds, a little sitting area and a door that helps with air, but bathroom is downstairs. I was surprised to see carpet in the bathrooms. It’s a 15m drive from Ridgway on dirt but well maintained roads. The map from the website (can) put you off about 100 yards; use 245 and the street for best Google directions. Loved the location: to Ouray 30mins, or Telluride 60mins, perfect to get away and be in the mountains, but close enough to enjoy these beautiful towns. Owner was responsive, helpful and generous on house access (was able to check in a little early and out, but that was bc of other guests timing). You sit in the trees, with stunning views…what else can you ask for? I would come back again.

Great stay with great views!

We loved coffee on the deck in the morning and drinks on the deck in the evening! The views are just fabulous. The house has everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

ATV riding in the mountains

The house was great and well equipped. Enjoyed it. It’s a long way off the main road and hard to park a trailer but otherwise perfect. A great stay!!!

We had a wonderful time. The cabin was immaculate and was stocked with everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. With all the pans we needed even a mixer. Everything worked perfect it was great. They’re even deer that walked right into the yard in the morning and the kids thought that was awesome.

We had a great time staying in this home. Absolutely stunning views, wildlife, and amazing stars at nights. The house was excellent and very well stocked where it was easy to prepare meals. Very convenient to Ridgway, Telluride, and Ouray. We very much appreciate the welcome folder with lots of details about the area, restaurants, and things to do.

In 1983, we got married and moved to Montrose and that is when our love affair with Colorado began. I am from Edmond, Oklahoma and my husband is from Wayne, Nebraska and we both went to college in Dallas, Texas. So Colorado, with its majestic mountain ranges and cool summer nights were something totally different than either of us were used to. We lived in Montrose for five years, then moved to various locations around the country and are now back in Big D. But Colorado was always calling us to come back. In 2000, we built our cabin with Dusty's parents, Jack and Evie. For years, they spent every summer up there enjoying everything the area has to offer. We love our time in Ridgway, Colorado. We look forward to it every year and we hope you get a chance to experience Cielo Vista for yourself.

At 9,000 feet it towers above the Aspen treed valley and is the perfect spot for catching a water colored sunset. If you like hiking, jeeping, fishing, swimming at the Ouray Hot Springs pool or just setting on the deck soaking up the sun, this could be the perfect place for you!
