Per the website www.townoflakelure.com: Lake Use in 2025- Town Council and Town leadership are keenly aware of the importance of reopening the Lake as soon as it is safe to do so. Given the timing of the work that has been completed thus far and the need for ongoing work moving forward, it is extremely unlikely that the Lake will be able to open for the 2025 summer season. (This includes motorized and non-motorized vessels and swimming.) For those of you who have been following our storm recovery process closely, this news may not be a surprise to you. I thought it was important to share this news with you directly. Please note that Town Council and Town leadership will continue to evaluate options for opening the Lake or portions of the Lake and we will continue to keep you informed with any updates as new information becomes available.

Southfork Cottage is conveniently located! Have plans to go to Biltmore? Want to spend a day at Chimney Rock State Park or the beach at Lake Lure? Looking to scout out some waterfalls? Want to shop in downtown Hendersonville? Excited to eat ice cream in Black Mountain? South Fork is a great little cottage to be your landing spot. It offers a comfortable stay in a very central location. This view has been described as "...fun, beautiful, peaceful, and stimulating all simultaneously!"

Offering two bedrooms and two baths. The upstairs bedroom has a set of twin bunk beds and a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room, and a fabulous deck. The downstairs has an open bedroom, a private bathroom, and a laundry area. The lower level and lower level deck are both slightly lower than standard ceiling heights. This small cottage was built long ago, but a recent remodel has made it very modern and simplistic. It's a stylish little property that is perfect for up to four people. There's parking for one vehicle, and from the parking area, it is approximately a 50-foot walk to the home. A modern, stylish appeal and a nice upper deck with super cool views are the main draws to this property.

For All Seasons
This home can be enjoyed throughout the year with the area's temperate climate and beauty. Springtime brings the blooming of the dogwood and redbud trees as well as the azaleas, rhododendrons, and mountain laurels. Summer brings lush greenery, and the autumn colors are extraordinary. Winters are mild, and with less tree obstruction, the views are incredible. Add the year-round sounds of the Rocky Broad River, and you have peaceful perfection!

The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area and surrounding communities offer several entertainment and activity options. See the Amenities and Notes for just a sampling of what is available. Just pack your clothes, pick up some groceries, and then sit back, relax, and enjoy all this area and Southfork Cottage has to offer. We hope to see you soon and welcome you to be our guest!
Smoking is prohibited in all of our vacation rental homes.

AREA WIDE NOTICE: Lake Lure will undergo a drawdown from January 1st, 2025, through the first quarter of 202 5(March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet have been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. For more information, click here. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. This will not affect the smaller lakes in the area, only Lake Lure itself.
