Traditional Stone Built Fisherman's Cottage

Situated in the quiet fishing village of Portknockie, McKenzie Cottage is a renovated, traditional detached stone built fisherman’s cottage, which retains its original character. It enjoys a village setting within a quaint street and is only a short stroll to the picturesque harbour with its creel and leisure boats. The village still retains the charm of its fishing heritage days. There are a few small shops, together with a hotel, fish & chip shop and Chinese takeaway within easy walking distance. There is a children's paddling pool at the harbour which is very popular in the summer months.
The ground floor of the cottage has a spacious lounge, large kitchen/dining area, recently refurbished shower room with walk-in shower and utility room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. Please note - there is a narrow staircase to the first floor (see photos).

This was a lovely cozy cottage, nicely decorated and fully equipped. Located just a short walk from the harbor and cliff walk. Also close to a small grocery, bus stops and a couple restaurants.

Good location to explore Moray Coast. Comfortable and well setup for self catering. Can eat out on certain nights if desired. Had a lovely time for 3 days here, thank you

We have been coming to Portknockie for over 45 years visiting family who live in the village we love it The cottage is well kept and has everything you need .We love the walks with the dog he absolutely loves the Beaches .

Absolutely wonderful property

We loved this property. The location in Portknockie is perfect for doing a coastal walk, learning about the battle of Culloden or walking around the riuns of Findlater Castle. We met some locals who were lovely and saw some great sunsets.

good place to visit

Very comfortable and clean house with everything we needed. Very quiet village but perhaps due to time of yaer plenty of other villages to visit.

Breathtaking Views

Had an amazing stay in Buckie. The ocean views while walking the cliffs were breathtaking. We had everything we needed and would definitely stay again.

Wonderful!

What a wonder this little cottage is. Just perfect for the two of us and our little pooch. Ideally located to explore the Moray coast and had everything we needed. The house is a credit to the owners.

A lovely little cottage, really close to the harbour where you get to see the amazing sun setting over the harbour in the evening. The cottage has everything you need and is very comfortable. Thank you

Wonderful stay at McKenzie cottage

We know the area well as we have family in the area but this was our first stay at the cottage. What a great place 😊 Everything you need for a relaxing stay, Morag has thought of everything! Less than a minute to the harbour , beautiful coastal walks from the door and sooo quiet in the cottage. Thank you, we’ll be back!

Lovely cottage in a quaint wee village.

The cottage was lovely, cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. The village is well kept and quaint with the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. We just walked along the amazing coastline from Portknockie and explored local caves, beaches and harbours. Even teenagers enjoyed it (although reluctant with the walking). I would thoroughly recommended this place.

Little Scottish Paradise

Property was clean everything that u have from home is there from games to books.to.tv etc. Beautiful walks and even the sun was shinning. Beaches are great for your furry one too. Locals are friendly fish and chips awesome. Beautiful all rounder trip. Couldnt ask for better.

A Quiet Coastal Cottage

We always try to find rentals with character that are slightly off the beaten track but still near to places we plan to visit - in this case the whisky distilleries of Speyside. The cottage is quiet, well equipped and sits just a half block off the bluff overlooking the port. It has easy access to the coast trails and an excellent fish and chips shop just a short walk away. I think you'd want your own transportation (car or bike) if you stay there.

Serene and peaceful

The cottage was all we needed and the area is spectacular! We took long walks, watched dolphins, and played near the water. Morag and Grace were so kind to us. We cooked and a lot, and the kitchen was well-stocked. Such fun. We have been traveling the country a while now, and these were by far the most comfortable beds and sofas so far. That was a huge bonus!

Excellent cottage, would highly recommend.

McKenzie Cottage is a cosy home from home in the delightful village of Portnockie. It is well equipped and has all the amenities we required for our stay. The utility area was a great space for muddy shoes, and wet coats to be stored and having an outside door directly into that space was ideal. We had one minor issue with the keys but that was quickly resolved with a phone call to the property owner who answered our call straight away. I would highly recommend this cottage and we will hopefully be back again.

Gorgeous cottage beautifully appointed

I didn’t want to leave. This is a gorgeous cottage in a peaceful setting and was a lovely change after being so busy in Edinburgh. Every possible kitchen utensil and piece of equipment was supplied. I appreciated the lovely shower gel, and the generous supply of laundry detergent. Shower has great pressure. There is a dryer but I didn’t use it. Hanging my clothes in the crack or the line around the bag did the job nicely. Comfortable bed with good linens, and I appreciated the bedside lamps. Be aware the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. Not a problem for me but good to know. Such a comfortable place to stay and I just wish I had booked it for longer.
