Overlooking the scenic Kennebec River, this quaint New England cottage named the "Frost House" is a lovingly restored historic home with unique charm. The back deck offers breathtaking river views, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or a peaceful sunset night. Inside, the home is beautifully maintained and thoughtfully decorated with hand-picked antique furnishings from Maine and beyond, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The upstairs master suite includes a space to relax and an upgraded bathroom. Located in a quiet, walkable neighborhood, it’s just steps from historic downtown Bath’s shops, restaurants, and waterfront attractions. With clean, spacious bedrooms and a serene setting, this home is a perfect Maine getaway.

Background on the home:
The Frost House sits on the site of a previously working shipyard, one of several in Bath that produced US-made boats and navy vessels. The site is now part of a development project aimed at rejuvenating the unused land and bringing mixed-use community back to Bath's waterfront. The dining room of the Frost House functions as a showroom for the project but guests are welcome to eat at the table and take a look at the architectural plans.

This house is a gem. We watched so much wildlife from the balcony, saw the Kennebec in different lights, walked to excellent restaurants and cafes. The house itself is charming and comfortable, the location has a rare combination of natural beauty and walkability.

This property is indeed "charming". It is well kept, clean, and all kitchen and bath supplies are plentiful. The decor includes warm antiques and interesting prints. It was a treat to get away from the hustle of Boston and popular Maine sites to this quiet location all within short walking distance for downtown Bath. It was a delightful stop for this grandmother and her two grandchildren.

Very nice and walkable location to the downtown area. Super quiet. Host was very responsive with questions. Plenty of space for all of us and a charming older home.Wishes: Deck was in better condition and, something the owner cannot control, but the next door neighbor’s backyard is a bit of an eyesore when trying to enjoy morning coffees.

We returned to this place for a second year and once again had a wonderful time. Check in was easy and we appreciated that there were some staple items in the fridge and cupboard. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning and were able to cook a meal or two in the kitchen. We were able to do a bit of work utilizing the Wi-Fi and were able to stream some movies/ shows in the evening. We took advantage of being able to walk to the shopping district a few times during our stay. It was a wonderful home base for our daily adventures in the Bath/ Brunswick area.

Amazing location and spotless, charming home. Immediate response to any questions and clear instructions re care of the property. ACs not in bedrooms but you rarely need them. You’ll rarely leave the deck overlooking the river!

Wonderful house and history

This was a great home to stay in, whether you're touring Bath or using it as a home base for side trips. It has some nice touches and a lovely porch overlooking the river.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. We walked to town most every day and very much enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast on the deck. One morning a bald eagle spent some time in nearby tree! The cottage was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed.

Nice quiet street that's walking distance to downtown. The back patio facing the water was so relaxing. Beds were comfortable. Water pressure was awesome. I spent way too much time looking at the wonderful memorabilia everywhere.

July getaway

Our family enjoyed our stay at this cottage The kitchen has everything that we need, and we enjoyed our morning coffee and morning walks to the town. It was fun to visit shops on Front Street especially the used book store.

An Enjoyable Stay

The Front Street property was a pleasant place to stay for our family. The view from the deck was beautiful. It is located in a very nice neighborhood and within walking distance of downtown. Downtown has many places to eat and there are many other things to see and do. We enjoyed our week and and were very happy we decided to stay there.

Very nice and comfortable

We had a wonderful stay. Beds and bathroom Wete great. The house had everything we needed except a bigger refrigerator and some comfortable deck furniture to enjoy the beautiful view off the deck.

We had a lovely stay here in quaint Bath. The house was very clean and cozy, very Maine. The owner was very responsive when we had an issue with the fridge.

Comfortable, clean, convenient cottage!

Catherine and Mark were excellent hosts. They were very helpful. The cottage has a beautiful view of the river and is close to town. The upstairs is spacious with a great bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped with antique touches. We enjoyed our Stay, and recommend it to others.

Ideal!

An effortless rental, because everything was so well thought out and well organised. We felt as though we were at home with lots of comfort and also beautiful furnishings and spacious rooms. The view of the river made it very special, and although very quiet, it was a short walk into town. Highly recommended!

Cozy cottage

The home was prefect for a short stay in Bath. We were very busy and only used the home for a home base. We didn't use the house for anything but sleeping. Host went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable.

If you love coastal Maine but have had enough of overcrowded tourist meccas, Bath is the town to visit. And if you enjoy staying in older homes where everything works, sleeping comfortably in a quiet and safe part of town, watching the moon rise over the Kennebec River from a very private deck, this house is perfect. Very easy walking to the small but sufficient commercial part of town. Wonderful Maine Maritime Museum that has to be experienced to be believed. And short drives to Freeport, Portland, or Wiscasset (Red’s and Sprague’s have the best lobster rolls). Ultra-prompt replies to any questions we sent to Host. We would definitely return.

Maine Stay

The house was perfect for a home base! Big enough for 4 adults! Rooms were a great size and the bathroom was nice. The deck and back yard were a bit if a let down. The deck was small and could use some touch ups! The yard needs to be cleared out. Would be nice to be able to get to the water! Perfect location though to walk into town!

I would love to have a path to the water however, the river is dangerous and it’s best to just look at it! Touch ups are planned for the fall. You can comment on the improvements next year. Best Catherine

the charming cottage on the Kennebec River is a great house

the cottage is a perfect size for one, two, or three it is on a quiet street in Bath and you look out at the Kennebec River through some tall trees that are perches for birds sitting on the back deck is calming and restful yes,once in a while a lobster boat or a faster boat go by that can be a nice interruption and then you enjoy the peacefulness again inside the house is tastefully decorated in its colors and with some antiques the kitchen has all you will need, and the bigger refrigerator is a gift. the beds are comfortable i would certainly stay again; i have visited twice the owner, Catherine Davis responds to inquires or questions in a timely manner, as does the caretaker, Mark, who is helpful in answering questions
