A 5 minute walk to Alameda's historic Park Street, featuring local shops, restaurants, bars and a movie theater. This Art Deco period home was recently updated, keeping the charm and character original to the property. Enjoy relaxing in this light filled home, with east, south, and west-facing windows. Spacious, eat-in, kitchen with stainless steel appliances, beautiful stone countertops, and detailed Art Deco period details and backsplash. The bathroom features include large sit-in shower with twin rain shower heads and period tile work. Large master bedroom with king bed, high-boy dresser, and walk-in closet. Central AC for cooling during the warm summer months. Brand new private Whirlpool front loader washer and dryer onsite. Enjoy dining outdoors in private patio space with bistro set and colorful bougainvillea. Direct TV Sunday Ticket access with WiFi and print/copy/scan onsite.

Immediate access to BART or take a short ferry ride to San Francisco. Within a few miles to Oakland's Oracle Arena and Coliseum, downtown Oakland, and Berkeley. Northern California's wine country, including Napa and Sonoma, is 45 minutes to an hour north of Alameda. Enjoy the outdoors in the Sierra Nevada mountain range just three hours inland of the East Bay, featuring famous Lake Tahoe ski resorts with hiking and golfing during the summer months. Access to Bay Area hiking, Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, and Marin County. To the south of Alameda is Silicon Valley and Santa Cruz.

Meticulously clean, perfectly located, cozy cottage

From the moment I checked in to the moment I left, I felt like I was in my home away from home. The home was meticulously clean, cozy, perfectly located, and had all of the necessities including toiletries and kitchen needs you could possibly need for a week-long stay. The only challenge was street parking.

Perfect spot for our New Year family visit

Very nice 1 BR in convenient Alameda location, with plenty of room for a couple. Everything was very clean and kitchen and bath had been recently updated. Communication with owner was easy and efficient. Even though the unit fronts onto a fairly busy street, it is very quiet inside.

Sunny Loveliness with Character

I initially chose this property for its AC - the only Alameda option available with AC, at the time. Lucky me! This gorgeous duplex was so beautiful with its bountiful house plants and art and the architecture itself. I particularly appreciated the natural light streaming in from all corners of both levels. And it was great having a dryer in the basement. (Washer too, but I only used the dryer.) There are 6-7 steps up to the bedroom, to be aware of. The location is wonderful for Alameda walking - just a few blocks from a large park and also Park Street. This is an exceptional property!

Great stay

We had a wonderful time in Alameda visiting our daughter and sightseeing in the Bay area. We had everything we needed and more. It was very comfortable and convenient to walk to restaurants in Alameda. The owners were very accommodating. Highly recommend!

Alameda rules

We have been to the Bay Area many times, but this is the first time we stayed in Alameda. The accommodations were perfect, as was the neighborhood. We had a very good stay at Margaret and Paul‘s. We recommended this property wholeheartedly.

Wonderful in EVERY Way

Perfect location! Easy access to the shops and restaurants and the ferry to San Francisco. Every amenity has been thoughtfully arranged…bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and laundry! Nothing has been left to chance. We have stayed in San Francisco and Sausalito many times in the past. This is a refreshing change! Loved the vibe, people and culture!

Perfect!

The propert was clean and cozy and recently updated qith modern amenities. The location was perfect, and I was able to walk to Park street every evening after work. Margaret was very communicative and accomodating. I'll definitely be booking this place again for my next work or leisure trip to Alameda!

Adorable Art Deco

Enjoyed our stay immensely! It was our first time to Alameda. The place was spotless and comfortable. There was definitely an Art Deco 1930s feel with the decor. A walk in shower was much appreciated as we’re seniors. Wood floors were stunning. The owners responded in minutes when we needed something. Anything you need is within walking distance-a couple blocks. The walks were easy and we enjoyed seeing the gardens and yards. It’s apparent the people of Alameda work hard and love their community. We ate at a number of restaurants and were never disappointed. If I ever return to Alameda I will definitely stay there.

The ideal VRBO property/host

When I travel to the Bay Area, this is where I stay. The unit is very clean and well cared for, with everything you need for a short- or long-duration stay. Excellent, friendly hosts and a great location (short walk to Santa Clara Ave and Park Street, 1.5 blocks to bus with easy access to the Fruitvale BART station). I am happy to be a return guest at this wonderful property.

The home was exactly as described and perfect for our needs. The property is spotless and well equipped. The owner was a pleasure to work with and so helpful with checking in procedures and timing. Margaret’s recommendations were spot on and incredibly helpful. I took pictures of her recommendation page for our kids that just moved to Alameda. Thank you for opening your darling home.

Home away from home

This was our 4th stay at this home. It consistently fills our needs. It is close by to where we want to be and we are comfortable here. The beautiful gardens are an added bonus.

Charme et confort à proximité de San Francisco et delà plage

Une très belle maison très bien équipée avec une super douche Nous allions à San Francisco en bateau avec achat du billet en ligne 8 min voiture ou bus et 20 min de bateau et vous êtes directement dans le cœur. Alameda est une charmante ville ensoleillée avec un petit centre et une jolie plage avec vue sur SF (au bout de la rue). Nous avons passé 5 superbes nuits et avons visité SF er Stanford. Je vous conseille vraiment ce très bel endroit . Margaret a été adorable et réactive. Merci pour ce beau moment en famille.

Centrally located and cute as a button

Stayed here for 3 nights. Property is clean and nicely decorated. If you are visiting Alameda (or the East Bay) and need a nice homebase for 2 adults this place is worth checking out. Communication was clear and responsive. I'd definitely stay here again on my next trip to Alameda.

Excellent VRBO experience

This stay was as good as it gets for a VRBO rental. The house was *immaculate* in terms of cleanliness, and this may be my first VRBO trip where absolutely everything in the property was EIWO (everything in working order). It was a pleasure to work with the owner, and I look forward to coming back!

Lovely and Relaxing

Fantastic apartment within walking distance of Park Street restaurants. We had a lovely getaway in this immaculate art deco apartment and returned relaxed and refreshed. We will definitely be back.

Girls weekend

Spent this year’s annual girls weekend with two of my good friends in Alameda. This cute house is the perfect location to walk to local restaurants, and is an easy drive to Alameda Point and for a day in San Francisco.

A Wonderful Stay in a beautiful Art Deco Gem

We just returned from our stay and Margaret's home in Alameda. Beautifully appointed with all of the comforts of home. We stayed when there was unseasonably warmer weather, and the central AC worked very well to cool the home. The king sized bed was soft which we enjoyed, but those who prefer a firm mattress may not be as happy. Self check in and out was perfect, street parking a breeze and a quiet location we would highly recommend. Thank you Margaret!

Art deco delight

This home is one of the nicest rentals we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Everything was top quality, from the kitchen appliances and cookware to the towels and bed linens. The king bed was very comfortable as was the sofa-bed as reported by our 12 year old grandson. We never had a problem finding a place to park on the street, and it was only a 7 minute walk downtown to the shops and restaurants. It was about 30 mins over the Bay Bridge to San Francisco, depending on traffic, and Margaret had given us a heads up about getting the Fastrak for the tolls which made the trips go smoothly. Margaret was excellent at communicating whenever we had a question and let us know when the WiFi was being repaired, which didn’t take long. We would most definitely stay at this rental again if we're in the Bay area. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet and a nice respite at the end of a day of sightseeing.
