Historic Home in East Chop

Renovated home in East Chop, Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard. Built in 1872 by my great, great grandfather, the house has the charm of a historical home, but has the modern conveniences for you to enjoy a relaxing vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. The house is located in a quiet wooded area in East Chop, an exclusive area of Oak Bluffs. Just walking distance to downtown Oak Bluffs, the house is conveniently located to Oak Bluffs harbor, jetty beach, great family restaurants, and shopping.

This 4 bedroom, 2 full bath house has just received a substantial renovation including a new kitchen with stainless steel appliances, master suite w/private bath, laundry room, new heating and air conditioning, instant hot water heater, new hard wood floors, all new furniture, new beds and bedding, and all freshly painted. The house has a wrap-around enclosed porch to enjoy a rest after a busy day at the beach and a new flag stone patio in back that includes a gas grill and new outdoor shower.

The house has a large side yard for kids to play and a hammock for those that want to relax and enjoy the quiet setting.

We supply all the amenities which includes sheets, blankets, bath towels, and beach chairs. The kitchen is fully stocked for those that like to cook. Cable TV and WiFi.

Like a home away from home, come join us for a relaxing summer vacation on the island.

perfect!

This beautiful house accommodated our family perfectly. Since one member was a professional chef we wanted a nice kitchen and a table to gather around. Beds were comfortable & there was space for everyone to gather or find a nook to be on their own. Outdoor shower was a hit. Loved the decor, lighting, seating, location - no notes! Easy walk to town. Jonathan was quick to respond. Everything was perfect. Definitely recommend this house.

Excellent vacation home!

We just completed our stay with another couple. The house is exactly as described, renovated and very clean. We only used two of the bedrooms and used one of the bedrooms to store our luggage. The house is beautifully decorated and stocked with everything to enjoy your stay. We especially loved having a comfortable patio and the use of the gas grill. Navigating the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms may be tricky if you have mobility problems but there is a frat floor bedroom, if that is the case. We plan to rent again next summer. The owner checks in on your arrival and departure which we appreciated.

Perfect spot for a quiet family getaway

The property was exactly as quaint as it was in the picture. It is not a busy street which was perfect for us. Great location close to Oak Bluffs and all the restaurants and shops. Cozy and you felt at home as soon as you walked in. The house had everything that you need.

Few days on Martha’s Vineyard

We enjoyed our time on the island. The house was convenient to Oak Bluffs and all the activities we wanted to do. Check in was smooth and the owner was helpful and responsive. Would stay here again.

Wonderful in every way!

The house was perfect for a friends' long weekend. A perfect mix of historic and new. The house is lovely and charming with a wonderfully updated kitchen and bathroom. Serene back yard with wonderful patio and outdoor shower. Plenty of gathering spaces and comfortable bed rooms. We cannot wait to return.

Awesome home

Loved everything about this house! Love the charm of the older home blended with the contemporary updates. Backyard is number one with great seating for lounging and dining. Outdoor shower is one of the best. Wifi was iffy especially in backyard. Bedrooms are small but the overall footprint of the house makes up for this. Great neighborhood. Well stocked kitchen, short walk downtown. Very relaxing.

Delightful house, incredibly clean and well appointed. Easy bike ride to town and overall a fantastic rental. The small children could have used shades on the sky lights. Many early mornings!

Best place for a vacation

This lovely well kept home is in a perfect location. A short walk to town but it’s very quiet location is very relaxing. The outdoor shower is fabulous.

We loved everything about this updated MV cottage in East Chop. It’s secluded & quiet, yet close enough to walk to Oak Bluffs. Lots of personal touches make it feel like a home. This is a great spot for families.

Nice, enjoyable stay

This house really had everything you need for a nice stay on the island. It was clean and well equipped. They did a nice job in modernizing the whole first floor and common areas, as well as the back patio area, which was absolutely lovely. We enjoyed sitting outside grilling, having drinks and eating when we could. The front enclosed porch was also nice for sitting, watching people go by to the other houses and just lounging. Very comfortable. The updates still kept the nice cottage feel which I like. We did have a problem with the microwave not working from the first day, but the owner was responsive in sending someone over immediately to check it out. Unfortunately, it never worked and needed to be replaced, so we didn't have one during our stay. But that's ok. We know how to use a stovetop. That's how we grew up. Since no microwave, it would have been nice to have a teakettle, but we used the coffee pot for hot water. Other than no microwave and teakettle the kitchen was very well equipped for our needs. If you stay, realize the bedrooms are really small and are probably best for just one person, unless you are in the room with two singles. It was perfect for us since we were just 4 ladies with our own bedrooms in the house. If more than one person you probably won't be able to move or put your luggage anywhere. Therefore, I would say 5 people max for comfortable sleeping. Please note, the bedrooms get very humid and musty if you leave the doors closed all day. The air conditioning splits worked well to cool, but not against the humidity. We learned halfway through the stay you must keep the doors open unless absolutely necessary to close them. You need the air circulating, constantly. The downstairs bedroom was the most problematic because it's right off the kitchen and dining room and the tendency would be to close the door. DON'T. You'll just have to keep it clean and keep the door open during the day and even at night if you don't mind. You'll thank me. Also, the upstairs bedrooms have skylights in them with no coverings, so by 6am the sun comes beaming in. If you would prefer to sleep late you may need to try the temporary paper Home Depot coverings for 4.99 and definitely bring a sleep mask. There are also only blinds on the downstairs bedroom and bathroom and the back bedroom upstairs. Not even the upstairs bath. I guess they are trying to keep an open feel. It works. I enjoyed it and would rent again.
