This was a wonderful cabin for a couples getaway. The view of the river was beautiful. The breakfast goodies were a happy little surprise and so appreciated. The host was wonderful and commented well. I would definitely come back and stay for a few more days just to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Thank you for a great birthday weekend.

A quiet tucked away little gem. Very easy communication with the host. It was great sitting on the deck looking at the water and watching the hummingbirds. We went to a concert at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater and it was so easy to get back to the cottage. We also did a triathlon which was easy to get to. Highly recommend!

Perfect Cottage Stay

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage! It was fun to watch the view of the river especially when boats went by. The hosts had everything we could need ready for us. The location was easy to find and a perfect base for exploring the St. Charles area.

Lovely retreat

We had a great time staying in the home along the Mississippi. It was beautifully decorated and perfect for a relaxing long weekend.

Beautiful view of the river from the balcony. Enjoyed listening to the birdsong. The cottage was clean and was divided into different areas for sleeping, watching tv or looked no out the sliding glass door to the river. Appreciated the bread, muffins and brownies.

One of the most beautiful properties we've stayed at. Eagles , owls and many other birds.Lots of stars at night. Wonderful claw foot tub. Great retro vintage cabin. Can't wait to visit in summer. Andy

Wedding weekend

We had a wonderful weekend staying at this sweet cabin. We were in the area for a wedding nearby and found this space to stay in over a hotel and I am so glad we did! The owners were so wonderful to work with and we also enjoyed the extra baked goods they leave for their guests! We highly recommend this space for a peaceful weekend getaway!

Loved our stay!

Great weekend with beautiful surroundings- very peaceful and weather was perfect! Perfect weekend to celebrate husbands birthday! Owners are the best and very thoughtful. The cabin was very clean and cozy! We loved it!

This cottage is a perfect place to rest and recharge. It is stocked with games and DVD's for fun and just a short drive to St Charles, St Louis or Alton, where you can drive the Great River Road. We can't wait until we are able to return!

June vacation

Perfect. Very cozy little place. Had a wonderful stay here and it was a very quiet and relaxing location. Great communication. Would definitely stay here again.

River Rest was exactly what I needed for a few days, a cozy, comfortable retreat with a view of the Mississippi. Nicely maintained wraparound deck, with plenty of seating, but there is a grand view of the river from inside, too. The cottage is exactly as described and pictured, with all the kitchen items I need. Love the big bath towels. Huge clawfoot tub. Water can be slow, but it’s hot! and worth the wait. Bed is very comfortable. The DVD collection is impressive, and there are some games. The only sounds I had for the week were birds, the occasional barge, and a few personal boats. Every once in a while, I heard muted sounds from neighbors, but no loud noises. It truly was peaceful. Only 30 minutes from St. Peters, but it feels much farther removed. Jeannie is an excellent host, very friendly and helpful, and communicative. There were also treats. :) I highly recommend River Rest to solo travelers and couples who are looking to leave it all behind and simply relax. I can see why Jeannie has multiple repeat guests.

Pre-Honeymoon Getaway !

We wanted a couple nights to ourselves after our wedding. Something close and not just a hotel suite. This did not disappoint ! It was a wonderful calm and relaxing stay after all the preparation for the wedding !

Adorable raised cabin with a view of the river. The cabin was clean, well equipped and comfortable. The host left coffee, juice, eggs and baked goods, along with bottled water. The queen bed was comfortable. The neighborhood is a bit remote but very quiet and peaceful. There are stairs to enter the cabin.

Another great stay

This is our second stay at this riverfront property. We just love it! It feels like a home away from home. There is plenty to do in the St Charles area but this time we mostly stayed cozy by the river, relaxing and reading. The special touches provided by the hosts are spectacular. Highly recommend.

a quiet get away

I just wanted to get away from my everyday life for a few days. This listing looked wonderful and it happened to be close to my home. It was all that I needed for the couple of days I could get away. I will return again, if I can.

Cozy Winter Getaway

I enjoyed my little solo trip to this adorable cabin in January! The bathtub was luxurious, the views of bald eagles hovering over the Mississippi River was very neat, and enjoying the heated fireplace with some homemade treats rounded out a very relaxing weekend. The owners were also very quick to communicate and friendly when any questions came about. I already plan to come back for a girls weekend in the spring or fall!

Amazing experience!!

Jeannie and Jack should write “The Book” on vacation rentals. Every aspect of the stay was well thought out. The bed ad seating were comfortable and our host provided homemade goodies galore! We enjoyed the fire pit and the friendly neighbors invited us to a party. We will be back!!!

Peaceful

This tranquil cottage was perfect for our needs. We drank our coffee while watching the river float by with all the animals dancing around. Very comfortable atmosphere with everything we needed for a peaceful, relaxing weekend. Close enough to restaurants and entertainment but far enough away to feel you are in the middle of nowhere. Will return.

BOOK THIS NOW

I can’t express enough how charming and romantic this cottage is . You feel just cut off enough from the outside world , yet you are less than 15 mins from everything ! The hosts are absolutely wonderful to work with . They go above and beyond to give you the best experience. The homemade breakfast items were the perfect touch to this cottage . You won’t be disappointed!!

Amazing

Lots of really nice little touches! Homemade jams, scones, biscuits plus a nice breakfast for us was provided in the fridge. All the basic kitchen necessities were perfect. We loved the cute little flower bowls. The view was great, the deck was awesome, firepit was well enjoyed. Even TV options & internet were nice to have. Quiet neigbors, saw some resident bald eagles flying around the nearby homes & river. Super peaceful & a perfect getway.

Bizarre and wild place

Came there to spent 5 days while working on assignment in nearby St.Louis small town. Amazing place - houses on stilts, wild animals noises during the night, unpaved road. Like being in a different part of the world! Refreshing and very different from your regular rentals. Very enjoyable and memorable. Great hosts and superb cleanliness of the property. It will be a grand memory! Thank you.

Our Attempt At The Best Review Ever

There's no way to express just how grateful we are for the River Rest Cottage. The location is just sublime & the cottage is so cozy! Surrounded by trees with an unobstructed view of the Mississippi, we spent the mornings and evenings on the deck relaxing, admiring the scenery, and soaking up the peace & quiet. The integration of a few pieces original to the 1940's home gave the cottage such a charm about it. Jeannie was such an amazing host. She truly thought of everything & gave us the best rental experience we've ever had. We definitely plan to stay here again!
