The perfect neighbourhood spot

I loved this little apartment! It has everything I needed and the location is perfect. Very lovely neighbourhood and the hosts were very communicative and helpful. Would highly recommend!

comfy refuge

This was the perfect place for us to stay while we spent most of our days with our new baby grandson. A nice 20 minute walk through this quiet residential neighborhood brought us to their apartment, and coming home to this uncluttered pretty space was truly a gift. I even walked to downtown Victoria to the movie theater one day. No need for a car here. We'd love to come back.

Victoria Gem

This spot was an ideal location for me. The location was in a more established area of Victoria. It had a fridge, freezer, washer, dryer, microwave in the rental unit. I had chosen to use the Victoria transit as my main mode of transportation. It was handy to access the transit connections. The suite was spotless when I checked in. If I had any questions, my host responded promptly by text or in person if needed. I would highly recommend it to my family, friends & coworkers to stay at. I intend to use it again when I do a long stay holiday in Victoria in future.

Cozy weekend away!

My boyfriend and I stayed in this cozy retreat for a weekend getaway from the city of Vancouver. John was quite hospitable and very informative from the first e-mail on. He greeted us even though we arrived late and provided us with absolutely everything we needed and more! We highly recommend this unit for those looking for a serene, comfortable, and relaxing environment. The design is very modern and impressive. You can tell a lot of careful detail was taken into consideration when staying here. It is very clean and well-maintained. We were able to go kayaking at the harbour and enjoy the market square and local pubs during our stay. On the day we checked out, we had a tour of John and Rob's garden which was an added treat! Thanks for hosting us, John. Hope to return again soon.

Excellent

My month long stay at this property was excellent, very quiet and clean place, the hosts were helpful and always available, everything I needed was provided. I definitely recommend.

Perfect space, beautiful gardens, gracious, welcoming host...beautiful art, comfy bed!

John is an artist! The communication was great, like family. The stay was very comfortable. Location convenient, beautiful & quiet neighbourhood. I would come back in a heart beat! Thank you very much for your hospitality!

This apartment was smart modern and compact.

I enjoyed the quiet neighbourhood and nice yards surrounding this house. My one bedroom apartment was tiny but perfect while I staYed for a week while visiting my husband at Royal Jubilee Hospital. The kitchen and bath had touches of convenience that were very nice, such as plastic wrap and a canister of tea bags, a starter pack of laundry supplies, and shampoo. They even left fresh flowers and some baked goodies on the kitchen table. I appreciated Johns welcoming demeanour and his willingness to help out. The apartment was spotless and filled with little personal touches and bits of art that made it feel homey. I would definitely recommend Oakland’s 8 and plan to come again when we are in town.

I would highly recommend to anyone!!

My wife and I came to Victoria to attend the Highland Games. We enjoyed our stay here very much! John was very helpful and extremely friendly. The unit was very homey and clean and the neighborhood was very quiet. If I return to Victoria I will definitely be staying here again. The front and rear gardens are very beautiful as well!

Stylish, Compact and Cosy

My daughter and I spent four nights at Oaklands 8 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable and the pull out couch was top notch. The kitchen had everything we needed and all of the finishes in the suite (bathroom and kitchen) were first class and new. The view through the front window out into a lovely garden was awesome. Fernwood is a great neighbourhood and we took advantage of the local pub, fish and chips shop and the lovely walking opportunities. We split our time between UVic and downtown and both were only minutes away by car but it's a good location for almost any activity. The back garden was breathtaking and I lucked into an awesome tour by our host John!

Beautiful apartment set in fantastic gardens

We had a fantastic stay here. Lovely appointed apartment with everything you need. Lovely quiet area to stay in but has shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Easy walk to Downtown. We walked to see everything we wanted. Nice not to be in the car. The owners are fantastic and so helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending this as a great place to stay. When we return I will be staying there again.

Best experience so far

This has been our best home away stay so far. Recently renovated and designed by the owners with exquisite taste and attention to every detail, the apartment is very comfortable and peaceful, as are the beautiful surroundings. John and Rob are very friendly, helpful and easy to reach and communicate with. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Garden Apartment

We had an amazing vacation experience. John and Rob are excellent hosts. John met us upon arrival, and graciously gave us a tour of their beautiful garden. The apartment was immaculate, beautifully decorated and well stocked. The location was perfect for our needs. It’s a very short drive to downtown attractions and close to local parks /public gardens. We tried several nearby restaurants John recommended, and they were all wonderful. Everything was perfect.

Comfort and Tranquility

Who needs Butchart Gardens when you have John and Rob's place? Beautiful with everything you need in this cozy apartment and a gorgeous garden to wander through and relax in. The bed is very comfortable as is the fold out single, if you need it. My cousin stayed a night while I was there for the week visiting my sister in the hospital and she wants to buy one for her place. Fernwood is a lovely neighbourhood with lots of little places of intrigue within walking distance. I was on foot/bus and I found I could reach both the hospital (Victoria General by bus) and downtown very easily. Downtown is a short bus ride, but I also walked there. John and Rob are excellent hosts. They made me feel very welcome and provided me with maps and information on where to go and how to get there. I would not hesitate to recommend this place and look forward to returning when I next visit Victoria.

BTW, we're actually in Oaklands, but as you can see from the Fernwood Strolls book, everybody thinks we're in Fernwood! Lucky to be only a short stroll from there, and the Quadra Village, and Hillside Ctr--just love the centrality of our lesser known neighbourhood--and maybe that's why it is so peaceful, eh? Location great and accomodation perfect

Location was perfect for what we wanted. Close enough to walk into town but well within a residential neighborhood. Rode our bikes to the ocean within minutes. In our 7 days we only drove the vehicle twice. Everything we needed was supplied and we would not hesitate to return. Especially enjoyed the hospitality and friendship of John and Rob.

Clean, well designed, tasteful, good range of appliances and storage.

John and Rob couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The apartment was easy to find and lived up to the description on the website. There were plenty of maps and leaflets to help us choose where to go and what to visit. The Internet connection was consistently good and all the appliances worked reliably. The garden was beautiful and the local area very pretty. We Would have no hesitation in recommending the apartments or the area.

Urban Hideaway

What a pleasant surprise upon arrival to feel suddenly that you were in a calm, green, luscious street but still within proximity to all amenities. Rob & John have truly created a lovely space to take in Victoria, with everything you could ever need & more. The space is spacious, inviting & beautifully decorated with the feel of your own little apartment. We were two women travellers who utilized the comfortable double bed in the bedroom & the love seat in the living room that converted to a single bed. Unfortunately we didn't have the pleasure to meet Rob but John is a wonderful host with a wealth of knowledge of the city & surroundings who was extremely helpful with our questions. If you have the time & opportunity it is well worth it to take a tour of the gardens! We would highly recommend this property!

Everything we hoped it would be!

John and Rob were the perfect hosts and very accommodating especially with our late arrival to Oaklands8. The unit and decor were well appointed for the size. Fernwood is a hidden gem in Victoria, easy to find and very convenient for shopping, coffee shops and eateries. We were disappointed that we did not have enough time in our schedule to fully explore their lovely gardens.

Cozy, quaint and compact!

A beautiful little apartment, clean and had all amenities. John and Rob were wonderful hosts, accommodating, courteous and warm. Although smaller than we expected, it was complete and centrally located with ample parking in a beautiful neighborhood.

It was really great! Such a designer delight, very well done by John.

John was really great and welcoming when we arrived. He even was gracious enough to drive us to the grocery store. This was very helpful as we were tired from the flights. We were provided with tips on were to eat and things to see, and the unit had a heated floor which was something we had never experienced before. Very nice area to explore. Good bus service. Best pull out bed we have ever seen. Very comfortable. The bed in the bedroom was great as well. This is usually a tough thing to find for bad backs and aging bodies. Very pleased and would definitely recommend it to everyone. Thank you John.

perfect holiday retreat

My husband and I stayed in this lovely unit over Xmas for 2 weeks. The unit was spotless and extremely well equipped for our stay. John and Rob were the perfect hosts and couldn't have been more helpful. With our son, daughter-in-law and new grandson living next door it made for a perfect holiday. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone.

Lovely, Peaceful Suite

This lovely, peaceful suite was ideal for our visit to Victoria. It is beautifully appointed with everything necessary for a visit. John and Rob were friendly and informative about the area. John pointed us toward some great restaurants within walking distance. Ask to see the beautiful garden. We would be very happy to visit again.
