“Sandy” is the ideal family beach house. We spent much of our youth on the gulf coast, so we know what families look for in a beach home. We offer a private pool, outdoor hot & cold shower, comfortable beds, and enough sit-down dining and sleeping space for 10 (huge dining table). Our beautiful home has stunning gulf views from the front and beach forest views from the back. Our feet never hit the pavement since we are just a few steps from the gulf. Our three screened-in porches are a bird watcher’s paradise. Sea turtles, the endangered beach mouse, and other diverse wild life thrive here. Bottle Nose Dolphins are almost a daily site, and during certain times of the year, the famous Blue Angels practice their air shows in our view. The adjoining gulf side neighborhoods provide us with a safe place to ride bikes, and we are a short sand trail walk to a restaurant, grocery, and liquor store. Our guests will never want to leave this perfect beach house. The main house upstairs includes a queen bedroom with private bathroom and a screen porch; the sea turtle room with two adult-friendly twins; and a day room that converts to a private bedroom with locking, acoustical accordion doors (the two adult-friendly twins can be joined). Sandy also includes a second component: a separate guest cabin on the ground level. The cabin makes for an ideal suite for a couple or a hangout for those surly teenagers. The cabin includes a private queen bedroom with screened-in porch, a full bathroom, and a day room with two comfy twin beds and kitchenette (French doors make the day room private). Wanting to spoil our guests a little, we also include these other amenities: an ice maker machine, three beach bikes, beach umbrellas, a big beach cart, and well-stocked, quality kitchen utensils. Our kitchen has a gas range and a large quartz counter top with bar stools for fellowship. Our on-demand hot water system keeps those showers hot for all in the group. For our hi-tech generation, Sandy is equipped with five flat screen tvs and hi-speed Internet with free WiFi. Sandy is the best family beach house in Fort Morgan!

Beautiful Rental in a Beautiful Place

This rental property was breathtaking. Clean and large enough for our 2 families to share and enjoy. The views of the ocean were second to none! Walking distance to a fun restaurant/convenient store. Vacationing in Gulf Shores can feel crowded but not here. The homeowners have a beautiful home that they paid close attention to detail on to make sure our trip was as smooth as possible. I will only ever rent this unit on my future trips.

Sandy is the best!

Sandy was by far the best gulf shores rental we’ve stayed at! The heated pool and all the beach supplies were an amazing amenity. Everything about sandy was in my opinion perfect down to the house layout. There is a down stair suite perfect for grandparents or in-laws to give much needed space after a day on the beach and swimming in the pool. The ice maker was extremely handy no more running to get ice every other day. This will be our go-to rental for the foreseeable future on all our gulf shores trips.

Great family location with all the basics!

We loved the house and it had all the basics. Had 9 people comfortably fit without issue. The area is great, the beach is great of course. I will say, despite the photos this is not a house on the beach. You are behind other house and walk past them to get to the beach. That is not easily understood viewing all the photos etc. if you are ok with that, you will love it.

Family Beach Trip

We had such a great experience and stay that we will definitely be back. Kendra and Glenn were FANTASTIC hosts! They thought of everything that a family would need and had it. They had plenty of chairs, toys, umbrellas and extra shower towels for a family of 10. When we first arrived, the extra refrigerator outside was not working and Glenn and Kendra immediately had it REPLACED! So nice and something they didn’t have to do, but did to make our stay more enjoyable and convenient. The beach was private and beautiful. We loved every minute of our stay. Great trip!

The BEST place to stay! Couldn’t recommend this more! We loved it here!

I don’t even know where to start. This is a hidden gem and we have never been to Gulf Shores before and we are already planning a trip back. We were pleasantly surprised about all the amenities available to us. From beach toys to high chairs to all the cooking tools available this place really supplies everything you need. You can also walk to the market, walk to the bar or take a nice drive into town it really is a great spot. We are busy working parents of four children in every stage of life (14, 10, 2 and 1) and they loved it. From morning coffee watching the sunrise to start the day on the deck with our one year old to playing in the pool to walks on the beach at sunset and cooking up a storm this place has it all. We found the cutest breakfast place down the street and it had such a small town feel perfect for our busy family. Our ten year old got sick and the owners couldn’t have been sweeter about it. Absolutely loved our stay and cannot wait to come back!

Excellent Family Getaway

What can I say about this place? We are a family of 5 so it was plenty big enough for us. We could easily have fit several more people into the sitting rooms on the convertible sofas. Our twin 15 year olds loved the small apartment that is under the main house, they felt so independent! The house itself is great, everything you need so you can save space while traveling. Kitchen utensils, beach toys and chairs, the cart for hauling stuff to the beach, it was great! We had one issue while there with a TV going bad while we watched football. I messaged the owners and they came out and had it replaced the next day! Sitting out on the screened porch every morning I had my coffee and read while relaxing on the nice bench couches out there, was hard for me to leave that spot! The pool was great for late afternoons and evenings as we relaxed around the house. We are already talking about booking again next year! Don't pass this one up!

Absolutely everything about our stay was perfect! Check-in was the easiest we have ever had and every amenity was better than described. My husband and I stayed a week with our daughter and family. We could have arrived with just our clothes for the week and left our beach gear at home because everything we could have wanted was waiting for us. My husband and I enjoyed the ground level apartment that gave us a little separation. Thank you so much for sharing this piece of paradise!

We had an amazing week. The house exceeded our expectations. We were so pleased to see all of the kitchen necessities we would ever need readily available. The house was so clean, as was the washer and dryer (sometimes in other places we have stayed, they are dirty and gross). Truly, this house was a perfect fit for our very large family. Family Getaway

Our stay at Sandy was wonderful! We especially enjoyed the pool with our grandchildren! The place was larger than it seemed in the pictures and the 5 completely separate sleep areas were appreciated leaving privacy for the adults! The view was excellent. There's a wide, full lot view of the ocean on each side! We could enjoy the ocean view and crashing waves sound from the front porch and pool! And the ocean feels close to you from this location. The 3 full baths inside, in addition to the outside shower stalls, as well as the beach buggy/beach items made the stay pleasant. It was a vacation to remember!

Wonderful Family Trip

We just returned from a week at Sandy, our 2nd year, and I can't say enough nice things about this place. Sandy is thoughtfully stocked with kitchen items, plenty of soft towels, games, etc. The most thoughtful items are the beach wagon, which is a lifesaver with carrying beach items across the sand, and the ice maker, which is perfect for filling the cooler. We can't wait for our next visit.

Fantastic and spacious beach house! Our group of 6 adults had a blast. Technically it's behind the first row of beach homes, but nice views of the ocean from the pool and the screened in porch. Short walk to the beach. Pool was small, but perfect for cooling off. Plenty of linens and towels for all the bedrooms & bathrooms. We loved the convenience of the big icemaker, second fridge, and outdoor shower. This part of Fort Morgan was not crowded at all, just a few families. Walkable to a decent restaurant (Sassy Bass), Dollar General a couple miles away, Wal-Mart and anything else you would need about 15–20 minutes away.

Best Amenities

This is a great location! The house was exactly as described. They have all the amenities that you could ask for. Pool toys, beach chairs, grill, ice maker,Extra refrigerator. We were so happy about having extra towels. All those small things really add up to a relaxing vacation. We will be returning for sure!!

Fantastic Family Getaway

We love returning to Big Sandy every time. From our 18 month old to our 18 year old, the house is perfect for all of our children. The pool was fantastic every day. The beach close. We are excited to return, again, soon.

Perfect Beach Vacation

We just spent a week at Sandy for spring break. The house is perfect! Very clean, spacious and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. We loved the screened porches, the pool, and the ocean view! The beach is steps from the house and there are plenty of beach items provided. We enjoyed being in the quieter area of Fort Morgan but close enough to drive to Gulf Shores to shop and have dinner a couple of times. The owners were excellent with their communication and a pleasure to deal with. We have been on many beach vacations and this was my absolute favorite. I recommend this beautiful house and hope to return again in the future!

Fall Beach Vacation

We had a wonderful time staying at the Sandy home. It has everything you need. The front screened in porch is wonderful for your morning coffee and to view the gulf view. The owners have an overabundance of beach items and infant supplies. The house was spotless and comfortable. Thank you so much for making our family vacation perfect. We will be back next October!

Sandy was inspired by my husband's family beach house designed by an architect from Mobile in the 1950s. My husband took design elements from this family beach house as a model for our house. Sandy's modern architecture combines concrete, stainless steel, cedar, pine, and Ipe (a Brazilian hardwood about as hard as concrete) to make a beautiful, masculine, powerful statement. Exposed construction materials emphasize both its strength and beauty.

Storm surge is a reality here, so building back from the beach a little onto some of the highest elevation on the peninsula protects us and positions us to having a really great view of the beach and our lovely adjoining neighborhood. Sandy sits at the dead end of a little road on a water access point--so the beach is JUST RIGHT THERE. We have the best of both worlds here at Sandy: a house that sits on the edge of pristine beach wilderness and a location near the town center. We never have to drive our car when we are here; we either walk or ride bikes wherever we desire to go. We live in harmony with some very special wildlife, including the sea turtle and beach mouse, yet we walk a short beach trail to a well-stocked marketplace that provides us with all that we need. If we do choose to drive somewhere, we are an easy, 15-minute drive to all the chain places (Rouses, Publix, Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc). And though we are also this short drive to some famous festivals-- including Shrimp Fest and the Hangout Festival--we find ourselves being totally grounded by our therapeutic paradise here at Sandy.
