Nice home with nice view!

Passing through Costa Rica and stayed at home for 2 weeks. Home actually had everything you could think of to have a very comfortable stay with good view of whales tail at low tide. Brenda the host was very responsive and very helpful with some requests, and the property management team of Trina and Jorge continually impressed me with their constant engagement and communication.

Exceptional Stay

First things first... From the moment I contacted Brenda, she was extremely sincere in her love for Costa Rica. They built this villa for themselves and it shows. Every detail was well thought thru. The views from every room look to the Whales Tale and mountains and ocean which were spectacular. The kitchen is a chef's dream. They have all you need to create a fabulous dinner party. Pots, pans and serving platters, baking supplies, spices, condiments and most anything you need.The beds are very comfy and beautiful bathrooms.The pool is wonderful to relax in after a day of excursions, so refreshing. The staff that cares for the property, Trina , Amelia and Jorge are fantastic. They are literally just a phone call away for whatever you may need. The road to the Villa is not nearly as bad as I anticipated. 4x4 is a must, but not a bad ride up especially after your first ride up! WE certainly will return to one of the best vacation rentals we have had. Absolutely loved it!

Best views ever!

First time visiting CostaRica and were glad we chose this listing. Great communication and the views were nothing but amazing. The drive up the mountain was as expected, rent a 4x4 from Adobe. Also use Johnathan Mata for transport from the airport, he was absolutely amazing!

Great. Property

This stay was in October. We stayed for 9 days. October is the rainy season. It rained almost every night we were there. We didn't have power from from sunset untill 830 am for the first four days. No fault of the property owners, just the situation of the rain causing downed power polesand trees falling on power lines et cetera.

Beautiful Home, Beautiful View, Wonderful Hosts

We have been visiting the Uvita region for 10 years. This was one of the best villas and experiences we have had. The owners are extremely responsive (Thanks so much Brenda!) & the property manager, Trina (& her assistant Jorge) are always most helpful! The accommodations were simply excellent. It is obvious that Brenda & Alf also stay and use the villa as there was not much missing relative to the amenities (this makes a difference versus places that are solely for rental use). The view is spectacular! Great pool and patio area. The mountain climb is one of the toughest in Uvita but that is something that we love! A sincere "thank you" to Brenda, Alf, Trina and Jorge for a wonderful vacation stay! Jeremy (and Nathalie)

Villa Blü = Whale’s Tail Paradise

This villa was stunning & the view was breathtaking. The ride up to the villa was challenging (4x4 vehicle is a MUST), but once you make it up to the top, you won’t regret your decision & it will be worth it. Brenda was very accommodating & easy to get a hold off. Jorge & Trina were great at making the check in arrangements. The villa has absolutely EVERYTHING you can think of & that you need. One of the most complete houses we’ve ever stayed at. Thank you Villa Blü for such a wonderful stay & experience with the most espectacular views of Bahía Ballena. You did not disappoint :) Recommend 1,000%

Amazing Views

We had an amazing stay. The communication throughout and the recommendations were on point. Sometimes when you arrive the pics are better than the reality. Not here. The view of the whales tail was magnificent. The tukans visited everyday and the howler monkey's were a great alarm clock. The pool was great and they had good floating toys for us to use. Don't let the road scare you, it wasn't as bad as we expected but we are offroaders so it was typical for us. There was construction next door which they warned us about and said they would accommodate if it was too much. We were not around much in the day to notice and at night it was so beautiful we didn't care . The host recommended KURA and the view from the restaurant was top notch. We will stay here again.

Beautiful house, great view, relaxing stay.

We visited for one week in Aug-Sept. We were met at a gas station at the bottom of the hill and then were guided up to the house. The road is fine but you do need 4WD. The house is beautiful and well-designed to allow breezes with wide open glass doors and screens facing the pool and the incredible view of the Whale tail. The pool is great for keeping cool. We saw lots of wildlife around the house. We barely needed any air conditioning. The appliances (stove, dishwasher, clothes washer and drier) were a bit tricky, but it was not a big deal. The house has everything you need and more. The local grocery down the hill has delicious fresh fish and fruit, which we ate every day. We very much enjoyed our time in this wonderful house in wonderful Uvita and hope we can return.

Breathtaking views

We stayed at Villa blue for five nights June 4th-9th with my husband and kids 9 and 5 years old. We had the most wonderful time! The house, the area, the owners, the caretakers everything about it was perfect! We found the road up to the house fun and exciting, you pass by a small waterfall. We rolled down our windows each time to take in the sounds. The views from the house are breathtaking. The first morning my daughter and I spotted a toucan in the tree on the property. My kids were hollering back at the howler monkeys. It was hysterical. Brenda was spot on with all of her suggestions for things to do in the area. Some of the stuff we really enjoyed was; Jungle ATV rentals, horse back to Nauyaca falls, Sierrpe River tour, Whales Tail beach, Uvita beer gardens (owner/food/location are awesome), Uvita falls, Playa Ventanas beach. Only FYI is the tile on the patio can be slippery & the AC is only in the bedrooms. The house opens up nicely for a breeze & we didn’t use any bug spray the entire trip! Thank you Brenda & family for allowing us to share a piece of your paradise! We rate this home a 10++

Secluded remote beautiful home rough drive.

This is an amazing beautiful modern home very remotely located . It has everything a dream home could have a nice pool, excellent view, comfortable beds! It is very modern, clean and beautifully designed! The view was amazing of the beach ,you could hear howler monkeys, but never could see any exotic animals. We loved the home but the road is very stressful very rough! It took us 30 minutes to drive 2.5 miles because if the terrible terrain from Uvita, you have to go 5 mph. If you could turn a roller coaster into a rough mountain road this is the drive, very sharp turns, one lanes, straight up ! We had 4x4 and it was still a very disquieting drive .I felt exactly like the guy driving up heavens gate in China it is a very similar drive to me. YouTube :Range Rover Sport (2018) Dragon Challenge : Extremely dangerous at night. It’s easy to get lost with sharp turns and very elevated straight up (nearly 45 degree angles) on the dirt road! It was recently graded but it doesn’t really help the roads, the potholes are the least of my worries. I was actually stressed everyday thinking of having to drive that crazy road. We did get lost 3 days in a row there are no street signs, no home address ,while using the Waze map. I prayed daily before and during the drive. Trina helped us when we did get lost find our way the best she could she was very helpful and kind. The home was amazing the jungles ,ocean and waterfalls were a beautiful adventure! I love a good adventure have been to Panama, Belize many South American countries driving . This drive however is not actually an enjoyable adventure if driving daily it’s dangerous and takes a long time. I love Uvita the town and would stay away from any mountain homes next time. We like to venture out this is not easy at this location. We did learn to always ask specifically about the roads from now on. I know the people renting the home before us refused to drive it , someone else was lost a few times as well.

Absolument magnifique!!

Nous avons adoré notre séjour! La vue est vraiment magnifique et très impressionnante! La maison est aussi au delà de nos attentes, beaucoup de fenêtres. Les lits sont très confortables. La route est un réel défi. Cela prend absolument un vrai 4x4 et non un VUS AWD. Nous avons été obligé de changé de véhicule nous n’avions pas assez de puis pour monter avec un Rav4.

Alf, Brenda, and the local team were very courteous and attentive to our needs. The house was beautiful (even better than the pictures). Calle Bejuco was an interesting, and somewhat challenging drive to the property (about a 15-20 minutes from Hwy 34), but well worth the travel. Incredible!

Myself, my husband, our 15 year old son and 11 year old daughter recently spent 7 nights at Villa Blu and truly had a trip of a lifetime! This property and the area it is located is simply magical! The house is so clean and beautiful and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The bird watching far exceeded expectations! We highly suggest taking a pair of binoculars to get the best experience, maybe even two pair depending on how many of you there are. The views cannot be beat! When low tide comes in and exposes the Whales Tail it is spectacular. When reading the reviews, listen to what they say about the road. It is very steep and if you have the means and can contact the car rental company, try to get a newer vehicle just for peace of mind, but DO NOT LET THE ROAD SCARE YOU AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY! It is worth it! You are completely immersed in the jungle and the sounds of the howler monkeys and birds every morning and night were one of our favorite things. We made sure to be back to the house before sunset each day just so we could take advantage of the beauty around us. There are so many things to do near Uvita but we did go to Manuel Antonio a couple of times which is an amazing place to see. One day we hope to return to Villa Blu, every part of our experience was incredible. Thank you Brenda, Jorge and Trina! You were all amazing! We made memories that will last forever!

A piece of paradise

Words can’t really convey the view, or the thoughtful design and gracious hospitality of our hosts. There is so much to do in and around Uvita that we didn’t get as much time at the property as we would have liked, so my best recommendation is to build a day in where you do nothing but sit by the pool and watch the birds. We did run into a few hiccups while we were there but Trina, Jorge, and Brenda were nothing but helpful and responsive.

Villa Blu hosts have thought of everything!! Fabulous place?

I could go on and on about the location of this home and the incredible veiw, but let me tell you about the house. The hosts, Brenda, Alf and Casakeepers have thought of everything a person could possibly need and stocked it in this home. The kitchen has every appliance, utensil and gadget possible. It was better than what I keep in my kitchen! The convection oven was wonderful! Huge fridge with every condiment was in it. We never needed air conditioning in the upstairs bedroom as the breeze and the sound of jungle, ocean and weather flowed through the room to wake to an incredible view of the Whale Tail. Internet connection was good at the house, but you don't really have a signal while driving from Route 34 up to the house. Be aware that the drive up to the house is rough, very bumpy and longer than you would think. Just look at all the jungle plants and trees and amazing views during the drive and it is all worth it. You must have 4 wheel drive. Don't take a chance thinking you will make it up in anything less than 4WD! There is very nice washer and dryer under the upper level bedroom w/detergent!! Hot water for showers with good water pressure. I could keep going about all the little touches that make this house better than home, but I would write a small book! Oh yeah, they provide many novels, fiction and non-fiction to read while you are there. I know I'm forgetting more details, but suffice it to say that this is the best vacation rental that we have stayed at, and we will be back! Thank you Brenda and Alf for sharing your incredible home for people to make great memories in!

Beautiful home with an amazing view

Villa Blu was a great place to call home for our 9 night stay in Uvita. The house is very comfortable and the view amazing.

Exceeded our expectations!

The property and view are even more amazing than what the pictures can show. The house was plenty of space for our family of 4. And, Brenda and Trina both reached out to ask how we would like the one bedroom beds for the kids configured before we arrived. From the second we booked, Brenda communicated with us all that we needed for our trip, including giving us a great travel planning site (mytanfeet.com). Closer to our stay, she checked in and made sure we had Trina's info, the property manager. Trina also reached out and had her partner, Jorge meet us to take us up the mountain road to check in. He was super friendly and made sure we were all settled before he left (including making sure we could connect to wifi!). When they tell you to rent a 4x4 car/truck and grab groceries before you go up, listen! The first time we went up the road, we were a little scared we might not make it! Some parts are so super steep. After that, you get used to it but only want to go down and up once each day. We would have lazy mornings there enjoying coffee from the lounge chairs while using our binoculars to bird watch. I could have spent my entire day in that spot. Our favorite things to do during the day was the waterfalls and Uvita waterfall at the bottom of the hill was the favorite! We also did the Nauyaca waterfall hike - moderate to strenuous but worth it! In the afternoons, we tried to get back before dark and managed to catch a sunset one night thru the trees. It rained more than we anticipated but didn't really interfere with our plans. It was enjoyable in the evening. This property was so relaxing. You couldn't hear any noise except for birds and howler monkeys, maybe construction in the far distance. But, no neighbor noises! It was absolutely the perfect way to end our 2021 and highly recommend.

Alf and Brenda and their two boys have long loved to visit Costa Rica. Their first visit was in 2007. As a couple they have returned over 10 times. The property was purchased in 2013. Alf designed the villa and it was built by Christian Arce of New Age Construction in Costa Rica.
