We spent our indoor time upstairs feeling as if we were in a tree House. Quiet & friendly neighborhood. Our dog loved the deck upstairs & the cool fresh air. added another night we didn't want to leave. Never even turned the TV on. Looked at some cabins & hope to retire up here.

The best birthday weekend

This home is so cozy and the surrounding neighborhood and views are just beautiful! We loved using the fireplace, plugging in the Christmas tree and just enjoying our time with friends celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday! It was the perfect backyard for two very energetic and playful pups! And the best kitchen to make delicious brunch and fun cocktails! We had an incredible stay and even extended another day! We would definitely stay again!

Cozy and spacious at the same time!

Property was just as described in the listing and fit our needs. In a calm neighborhood conducive for morning and evening walks. Instructions were easy and contact was communicative. Would definitely stay here again!

Negatives

Heater in downstairs room didn’t work (guests didn’t sleep in there) till next day after I called cabin manager. A space heater was provided for the second night. Cabin is not wheelchair accessible- my guest in wheelchair could only access bathroom from front room (downstairs doorway to restroom living room/ bedroom did not allow access for wheelchair- too narrow). Guest had to access bedroom by coming through the exterior sliding door.

New year’s getaway

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The only downside from our stay is that we were able to enter the property after 6pm, when check-in time is at 4pm; it was a disappointment since we were traveling from abroad. The house was clean, they have electric mattress covers which are very nice to sleep warm and comfy. The house has two living rooms so it’s nice that kids can play in one and adults get together in the other one. The spa is great. The deck and the porch are not lit so is kind of disappointed that we couldn’t stay a out after 6 since it was dark, it was a hassle to bbq without outdoor light. We had an issue with the food processor in sink and they someone right away to fix it. Other than that, we had great time.

The cabin is very cute and has a lovely mountain feel. There was adequate space for our group and the kitchen was nice to cook in, just had to make do without a few items. Repairs: The towel rod in the lower bath isn't anchored to the wall well. The shower rod upstairs isn't anchored to the wall well. The cables on the upstairs banisters are hanging on by a thread (literally). The light switch when walking in the keypad door is hidden (didn't see it til we left). The kitchen could use a few items: mixing bowl, whisk, pot holders.

Not what you expect from VRBO

Felt like we were duped. Property listed as "Hosted by Claire," so I assumed that was an actual person. Unfortunately, it quickly became clear we were not dealing with a host as you would expect from VRBO, but instead a property management company. I received countless emails from them and had to jump through a lot of hoops to confirm and actually get access to the property. Some of this is due to the requirements of the City of Big Bear, apparently, which requires guests to do a face-to-face check in at the rental office. Super inconvenient, and had I known ahead of time, we probably would have gone elsewhere. Property was not guaranteed to be available at 4pm check in time as advertised, but instead would be "ready whenever the cleaning team got to it." Standard, basic things you don't want to have to worry about while traveling (like hand soap) were not included and were running out by the time we left. House itself is shoddily constructed and the ceiling shook and particles dropped down every time someone walked upstairs. Lacks basic things, like towel hooks. Despite having to download an app (not the VRBO one), there were no instructions on how to operate the fireplace, heat, or hot tub. Listed as safe for kids, but the wall heater was very hot to the touch and would be dangerous for a young child.

Hidden Gem

What a quaint and very roomy cabin! It fit all of us comfortably. Had all amenities needed to cook and clean. Wish there was an extra couch downstairs as the stools weren't too comfy to lounge on. Upstairs bedroom near stairs was chilly so maybe extra blankets would be nice. We had a great time and would definitely enjoy another stay in the future.

cosy great cabin with all the basics needed for a great trip

A great cabin with all the amenities to make it a fabulous trip. Close to a hill for sledding and a great hot tub and backyard. The living room downstairs has a fireplace and a comfy sofa but lacks enough seating for all to sit together. Also, there's no dining table but can make do with sitting on bar stools at the kitchen counter and a small side table than can seat a few people.

Hot tub dangerous as there are no stairs to get in or out. The pool cover has no metal lift on it making it a two person job to open the top. I The second floor was warm and comfortable. The area has lots to do, Big Bear is really beautiful. This cabin would be great with a few improvements.

Great Family Getaway, But Needs a Few Fixes (And Better Check-In)

Pros: This house is a great place to stay when you want to escape into the mountains and enjoy some quality time. The place is perfect for a family. It's pet friendly, and the yard is fenced to keep your pets and little ones safe. The street is super quiet, and the neighbors all smile and wave. We happened to stay there when Big Bear got a foot of snow, so the experience was rather magical. And the novelty of sitting in the hot tub while the snow fell around us was pretty exciting. The house is just as cozy as it could be. (There's even a little built-in desk that is perfect for remote learning!). Cons: The check in process was not great. We were originally told that check in was between 3 and 4. We had asked for an early check-in because a winter storm was coming. We were told that they would let us know closer to check-in. (That never happened). We arrived around 3:30 to beat the winter storm (warning went into effect at 3), and called the company and they said the house still had to be cleaned and inspected. But no one was there. We waited around, and at 4 pm, a truck arrived, but it was not a property manager to let us in; it was the cleaning crew. So we drove around for a while (nowhere to go in Covid times), and at 4:45 we had to call the company again to get the entrance code. Not convenient. Once inside the house, the snow on our boots tracked water which was VERY slippery (our little one slipped and fell). We had read that there were "cleaning" towels in a cabinet somewhere, but we couldn't find them. We didn't want to use their nice white bath towels, so we called and requested towels. They said some would be delivered, but that never happened in the three days we stayed there. Luckily I had packed an old towel in the car. The kitchen lacked basic supplies like a colander and measuring cups and spoons. There is only one couch in the downstairs by the fireplace and the kitchen (where everyone wants to be), which was fine for our family of 3, but would not be great for a larger group. There is no real dining table other than a small 2-3 person table and a bar with a couple of stools, which was fine for us, but again, would be tough with a larger group. There is also the fact that the balcony doors in two of the bedrooms do not open (confirmed by the maintenance guy -- who was really great and responsive, btw). I hope the property managers resolve this issue soon as I think it's a safety hazard. Overall the pros outweighed the cons.

Overall great stay!

We had a great time during our stay here! The place was clean and the jacuzzi was a great addition. It was also nice that they had a closed in yard for pets. Highly recommend!

Not what I expected

It was clean so that was a positive. There was no washer and dryer, no hangers, no bedding for the futons which is part of the “sleeps8”, so adults had to sleep together so the kids had a bed. Couldn’t open the French doors, we gave up on that, the upstairs shower didn’t work, called maintenance, the door to the fireplace fell off, the toilet paper holder fell out of the wall. Appliances are updated that’s a positive. We spent the better part of 24 hours dealing with maintenance and calling management.

Overall good experience.

The cabin was clean and comfortable. I too believe I had read that there was a washer and dryer which was not the case. The cabin could be a little more child proof, the stair rail could be upgraded to something safer. We unfortunately experienced a leak, the water came from the shower upstairs and it fell into the stove, we were cooking when this happened, thankfully my sister grabbed the pan off the stove, otherwise we would have had to throw away our dinner. Aside from the leak, the shower knobs in the upstairs bathroom were not working property, the gasket for the shower knob had to be replaced. The maintenance guy who came to fix it was very nice and all, he wore his face mask when he entered the cabin, but when he came downstairs to turn on the main water line he was no longer wearing his face mask, which I was not happy about, more so because of the pandemic.
