Sugar Mountain Resort is approximately three and a half miles away and there you can find snowboarding, ice skating, sledding, tubing, a golf course, and tennis courts. Hiking is quite popular in the area as well! Six miles away are Banner Elk's restaurants and shopping options, while Grandfather Mountain and Appalachian State University are 11.5 miles and 15 miles away, respectively. Other must-visit attractions include Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster (three miles), Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zipline (nine and a half miles), Beech Mountain Ski Resort (11 miles), Mile High Swinging Bridge at Grandfather Mountain State Park (11.5 miles), Tweetsie Railroad (19.5 miles), and Linville Caverns (22 miles).
