Frank Lloyd Wrightin arkkitehtuurin innoittamana Grey Havens istuu 450 metrin päässä yksityisestä Lake Superior -rannasta.

Talo on sisustettu tehtävätyylillä ylelliseen mutta mukavaan tunnelmaan. Kotona hajallaan oleva taide, josta suurin osa on paikallisten taiteilijoiden, heijastaa sinua ympäröivää erämaata. Avoin pohjaratkaisu mahdollistaa ruoanlaitto-, ruokailu- ja rentoutumismahdollisuudet upealla järvinäköalalla.

Tärkeimmässä oleskelutilassa on Carlton Peak -takka ja 50 'taulutelevisio, jossa on BluRay-, dvd- ja video-soittimet iltaelokuvien katseluun. Stereojärjestelmä voi täyttää pääalueen millä tahansa tyyppisellä musiikilla, jota valitset cd-kokoelmasta, tai toistaa oman henkilökohtaisen musiikkisi. Kodissa on myös internet, joten voit muodostaa yhteyden ja jopa ladata elokuvia, jos sinulla on kyseinen palvelu älytelevisiosta. Kaksi mukavaa kääntyvää lepotuolia lahden ikkunassa antavat sinut nukkumaan samalla kun heilahtaa rannalla kaatuneiden aaltojen takana.

Kierreportaita ylöspäin ja näkymä olohuoneelle on parvi, joka on täynnä kirjoja, sohva, jossa on vyötärö ja sohva. Ylä toisella kierreportaalla ja tulet vasta uusittuun torniin, josta on upeat 180 asteen näkymät järvelle. Mukavat istuimet ja valaistus tekevät tästä täydellisen paikan rentoutua, lukea tai katsella Superior-järven monia muuttuvia kasvoja. Yöllä se on tähtiharrastajien unelma!

Tai ehkä haluat vaeltaa järvelle ohittaaksesi kiviä omalla rannalla tai kalastaaksesi ledgerockin rannalta. Hot dogit ja s'mores rannan palo-kuopassa luovat hauskaa ja muistoja kaiken ikäisille.

Voit luoda omia gourmet-aterioita täysin varustetussa keittiössä JennAire-uunin ja muiden mukavuuksien avulla. Tai grilli ulkopuolella Weberillä!

Makuuhuoneessa on erityinen pakopaikka, jossa on kaksi ikkunaa, upeat näkymät järvelle. Liitetyssä kylpyhuoneessa on oma kylpyamme ja erillinen suihku.

Ensimmäinen vierashuone heijastaa Pohjoisrannan matkaajien perintöä. Sen liitteenä olevassa kylpyhuoneessa on hassu kuusipuiden seinämaalaus, joka tuo ympäröivän metsän sisälle.

Toisessa vierashuoneessa keskitytään Bev Doolitlin taiteeseen kuvatensa koivumetsien piilotettuja asukkaita. Oheisessa kylpyhuoneessa on näkymä ikkunasta ja etsi puita, jotka aiheuttivat koivuseinämaalauksia!

Grey Havens on vain muutaman minuutin päässä Lutsenin hiihtokeskuksesta, laskettelu, lumilautailu ja kesällä Alppien liukumäki. Vielä lähempänä on 27-reikäinen Lutsenin kansallinen golfkenttä. Miles hiihtoladut alkavat tien toisella puolella. Vaellus kauniissa valtion puistoissa valtatie 61: n varrella on mahtava vuodenajasta riippumatta. Vain 20 minuutin päässä itään on Grand Marais, taiteilija siirtomaa ja viehättävä kaupunki, joka on täynnä kauppoja ja ravintoloita pitämään sinut viihdyttävänä säällä.

Harmaa Havens oli satama korkeimmalle ja tehokkaimmalle haltialle Tolkienin tarinassa Lähi-Britanniasta. Halfat matkustivat muihin lumottuihin maihin Grey Havensista. Taikuuden ja kauneuden paikka, Grey Havens oli turvapaikka Ringin yhteisölle ja on meidän sielun turvapaikka.

Games, movies, amenities, room/space for relaxation, stocked kitchen-- this place has everything you need for a relaxing and restorative stay. A beautiful lake home with great views and the sound of waves crashing as you fall asleep! The only thing we would let people know is that while the beach (also quite beautiful) is listed as "private" in the property description, it is not "exclusive" — the beach is shared with two other adjacent lake homes. We were not aware there was a distinction, and depending on who was at the other properties, it could make a significant difference in your experience. If that fits with your expectations, you will have a wonderful stay!

Cozy Cabin in Amazing Location

This is the 2nd year my family has enjoyed this wonderful cabin. Before we even started our weekend the grandchildren were asking if we could do it again next year. The cabin is perfect for families, incredibly private, great views and as cozy as it could be. And…it looks like we will be booking again for next year.

Great place to stay!

Another great stay

This was our second time staying at Grey Havens and it was just as wonderful this time around! We love the location for getting out and exploring the North Shore. Beautiful cabin and plenty of room for 2 families with kids. The crow's nest was a hit in the morning with the kids and adults alike!

Perfect Spot

Love the location, love the beautiful home and of course, being right on the most gorgeous lake in the world. We had a wonderful stay, cooked all our meals at the house, went up and down the shore, hiking, sight seeing and fishing at near by lakes. This well appointed home will not disappoint. The only thing we did NOT do was have a fire in the fire ring due to dry weather, Hope the state gets some rain! Thank you!

Beautiful property with beach access

Review This is a beautiful home, perfect for our fall leaf peeping expedition for 6 adults. It was spacious and clean with plenty of bathrooms. The instructions for check-in and getting to the property was easy to follow and it was easy to reach Judith by email. We appreciated the use of pretty much the whole house. The beach was nearby and during one of the days, the water was so strong, ocean like waves pounded the shore— it was amazing to see. From this location, we were leaf peeping as far north as Grand Portage and enjoyed the easy access to the main highway. We would choose this rental again in the future if it were available during our leaf peeping trip.

Gorgeous location and house

We stayed here and skied at Lutsen which worked out perfectly. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms. Kitchen had everything we needed and the house is big enough that we all fit comfortably. It was delightful to come back and sit in front of the fire after a day of skiing. The views are absolutely stunning and the house takes advantage of them. Being here in the winter, it was a huge bonus having the 2 car garage. A couple comments we saw about the obstructed view of the lake and the noise from the highway, we didn't notice at all but we were here in the winter. It is an absolutely wonderful place and would definitely come back again.

Our opinion

We all thought the house had a strange smell, had to buy candles to help with that & leave most windows open. Rules said to only use wood provided for fireplace & fire pit, no wood for fire pit was there & only a couple pieces there for the fireplace. There was a small hole in one of the closet doors, I took a picture of it when we got there. The pictures on the app looked like the fire pit was right down some stairs from the house, not so, you had to take a trail to the steps to get to it, would not have stayed there had we known that, we had a couple elderly moms with us who couldn’t go down plus lots of tripping hazards on the way down, we had a good time but would not stay there again

Property was spacious, clean, great amenities and views, also had great areas for kids to explore, (loft areas)”. Lake shore was fantastic, however it should be noted that it’s a little bit of a hike downhill, which was hard for our older friends. My wife and I most definitely would recommend and plan on going again.

This is an extraordinary home! It has beautiful views of the lake and wonderful spaces for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful setting. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. This home was perfect! It was the cleanest home we’ve ever rented, I mean….spotless. The lighting is beautiful, rustic elegance, and the bedroom set up is amazing. Each bedroom has their own bathroom and the master bedroom is separated from the other two bedrooms which worked out absolutely perfectly with our snorer in the group. The “perch” on the top level has two sofa-like chairs which were incredibly comfortable with a blanket on each of them. Gazing at the night sky and the lake…..it’s overwhelming. We would definitely stay here unreservedly again. We had the most special time.

An absolute gem, from the beginning of our stay until the end. Very clean, fun winding staircase up to the 3rd floor cupola where we had great family discussions. Had a camp fire, swam off of the private beach, skipped rocks, played games, hiked, and enjoyed visiting Grand Marais.

Rustic but nice

This property is in a beautiful location with access to Lake superior. It is quite rustic with limited hot water and we did run out despite our careful and coordinated planning. Unfort the owner didn’t want to be bothered with our hot water issue, as after waiting 12 hours for a response the answer was that it was ‘our’ responsibility to call someone else :(. The views were partially blocked due to dirt and cob webs, as well as outside condensation on the upstairs tower windows. First VRBO where coffee or tea was not included or available so byoc.

Annual North Shore Weekend

Perfect!

This has been our go to location for the past several years when we make our annual fall trip to the North Shore. We love the location, being right on the lake and it works perfectly for three couples that each have a bedroom and more importantly, their own bathroom. The "lookout" at the top of the home is my favorite spot to read, nap or just enjoy a cup of coffee with the view. Easy check in and check out adds to the ease of mind. We'll be back again!

Fall getaway

Loved the home and the fact that the bedrooms were all on the main level. Had everything we needed. Very much enjoyed relaxing on the deck and listening to the surf. It was close to the golf course. The only possible negative is that the one bedroom had twin beds.

Fall Family Trip

Gray Havens was the perfect cabin for our family Fall get-away. The views from every window bringing in the sunlight and the lake. The coziness of every room. The amazing property, the fire pit, the stairs down to the lake. The “treehouse room” (as the grandchildren called it) was the best place to be during morning sunrise. We will be back next year.

Outstanding North Shore accommodations!

Three “senior” siblings and spouses thoroughly enjoyed this home for 5 nights after Labor Day! We all were able to enjoy the exquisite view from the turret loft as well as a couple of evenings of a cozy fire in the living room fireplace. It was very easy lake access and we were very happy to have garage space for the cars! The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable for all. Sweet family memories were made!

We are city dwellers who have always loved the outdoors. When our children were young, we went camping and traveled all over the country. Once they were grown and we had four granddaughters, we decided a place where we could all be together and celebrate family events was important. We now split our time between Minneapolis and Lutsen, so we get to enjoy the best of both worlds.

We fell in love with the North Shore the very first time we visited. After years of renting other people’s homes, we decided we wanted our own piece of paradise. We purchased 1.5 acres right on Lake Superior in Lutsen and built our home. This year we added the adjacent 1.3 acre lot, so seclusion is assured!

We love the many faces of the Lake, from smooth as glass to the powerful winter storms. The surrounding forest is full of wonderful birch and spruce trees not to mention the abundant wildlife -- deer, chipmunks, eagles, owls, and the occasional bear or wolf.

We are avid hikers and have been all over the wonderful state parks that line Highway 61. Trips into Canada to Fort William and Thunder Bay or up into the Boundary Waters at Ely always are adventures of discovery.

As well as hiking, we love to eat! When not making gourmet meals in our own kitchen, we have found numerous, sometimes hidden, restaurants serving everything from venison to burgers to four star cuisine.

As amateur astronomers, we built our house with a turret. There is nothing more awe inspiring than looking at the Milky Way or finding the North Star or identifying constellations on a warm summer night. Or bundling up and watching the shimmering Northern Lights on a fall or winter evening.

There simply is no better place to relax and enjoy Nature in all her glory than our retreat on the North Shore.
