Booked our stay 5/12 for 9/26/25 check-in, received conf#, and verified the dates showed blocked out on VRBO calendar listing. We purposely rented 2 cabins from same owner for out of town nephew's wedding for 9 ppldogfood for 2 days.At check-in, discovered 1 of the cabins had been double-booked! Occupants stated they booked the prior week with owner's daughter, Rachel/their friend. Rachel took responsibility for the error/admitted fault/apologized, unsuccessfully tried to find another cabin, and offered to refund us. We were obviously frustrated as we could prove we had booked the cabin first, and that it completely disrupted our plans with our large group. We offered to all pile in the 2nd cabin if Rachel would refund both groups' money due to the inconvenience on us all, but she flatly refused, was rude, and obviously didn't understand the concept of restitution. Convo was tense, she hung up on us, and later said we were cut off bc she "was driving", which was a lie bc she had been on her computer checking the reservation with us. Bc entire group impacted, we had to vacate both cabins and cram into local hotel, incur xtra fee for pet, and manage all food from hotel room.I think it's clear why we are posting this experience. Stunned at how they left us on the street, no restitution/comp to help, or care for how this impacted us, and clearly chose her friend over her professional duty to the party that booked first.
