This cabin was completley stocked, it was all we could ask for, for an 8 day stay. The serene sound of the creek all night almost forces you to relax and take the tranquil sounds and atmospher in.lake chatue is within 9 miles for family fishing, motor cycle routes are with in 80 moles and unbelievably challenging. This was one of our most memorable stays.

So Relaxing !

We had the best time . Floating in the pond and hiking in the creek. The screened in porch right over the pond was our hub. We played board games and shared meals . We reconnected as a family and it was amazing . Fireworks in Hiawasee on the mountain . Can’t say enough it was just so great!!

Peaceful escape to nature

We stayed here for our 25th anniversary and really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. It was nice to sit on the covered porch and watch the rain on the pond. Would love to stay again.

Cozy Creek retreat

Such a cozy home with all the kitchen amenities as well as outdoor games and fishing fun. The fire pit sits along a lovely creek that will sweep away all of your worries! The owners have thought of everything and this home is number 1 for convenience and comfort! I will definitely return!

Heavenly stay

We absolutely loved staying here!!! Sitting on the screened in porch overlooking the pond and listening to the creek was so relaxing. The fire pit was great too. We were able to visit some waterfalls and go tubing as well. It was definitely nice to have a garage to park in. I would definitely recommend staying here. The owners were very responsive too.

Perfect in every way

This was our 3rd stay, and we're already talking about going again. The setting is so peaceful, and the cabin is well-stocked and comfortable! Our grandsons loved swimming in the pond, and we enjoyed the fire pit every evening. We also discovered Hayesville Brew this time and ended up eating there twice. The food and service was way above average! I recommend this cabin wholeheartedly!

The cabin was perfect. Steps leading to pond or creek. Chilly nights, great fire pit enjoyment! We brought plenty of food which helped, there are limited grocery stores and restaurants but it was perfect

Operation Family Reconnect

This place is truly a gem! We throughly enjoyed our stay. Our kids (ages 12 and 9) are in year round sports. Our weekends are packed full. We were looking for a place to disconnect from our “normal” and reconnect as a family. The sound of the rushing creek reminded you to breath, the easy going lifestyle of the mountains reminded you to relax, and the time spent and memories made reminded us that the kids are only this age once and to enjoy life in this chapter we are in. It’s just what we needed. Thank you Gary and Tracy for sharing your home, we can now see why you love it so much also.

Scattering Joy

Tracey & Gary were very quick to respond anytime I had a question and they have thought of everything when it comes to their property. The home is clean and comfortable, as well as warm and welcoming. The property is a beautiful escape from the hustle and the bustle of everyday modern life. My family thoroughly enjoyed our week there unplugging from the daily grind and reconnecting with eachother. We made so many beautiful memories playing games, fishing and exploring everything we could. We all definitely recommend staying here! Magical experience

If I could give 10 stars ⭐ I would. From the layout to the easy access to enter the home thru the garage, especially to load and unload belongings. The fully stocked kitchen and when I say stocked I mean it has everything you can possibly need.The home was Exceptionally clean and organized. The screened in porch was my favorite with the sound of the creek being so beautiful and relaxing as well as view of the pond. The crackling of the fire pit transported me to a simpler time as a child camping with family. We saw deer, hummingbirds fireflies and herd nothing but nature. The hosts were extremely accessible and even went out of their way to let us know what was happening in the area if we wanted to go check out the town. Already planning our next trip

Perfect Getaway

It can be said that my kids (and sometimes my husband and myself) are additcted to technology. I think that's why this weekend is so special to me. For two days, no one touched their phones, computers, etc, and we enjoyed each other! The cabin is clean and comfortable and very well equipped. The property is gorgeous. The pictures don't do it justice. There is absolutely no cell service, and no wi fi, so be prepared for that and give anyone that might need you while your gone the cabin number before you leave. Tracy is very quick to respond to any questions, and very helpful. We found the property easily with GPS. The pond toys were great. We bought 4 of the river run tubes when we got home because we liked them so much. The pond was clear and cold. You can't tell from the pictures, but it was pristine really. We loved the hammock and the sky chair and the grates provided to cook over the campfire. Saturday morning, we ventured into Hayesville and had a great breakfast at Maria's Hayesville Family Restaurant. Everyone was so friendly. We got groceries at the ingles in Hayesville and headed back to the cabin. We loved lunch and dinner on the screened porch (with the pretty lights and the fan! We loved it!) and the kids played and explored the creek. We kayaked, and floated and then ended our day around the campfire for hotdogs and smores. After dark, we played yahtzee as a family. I know for sure my kids made memories they won't forget, and that is a blessing to me. Thanks, Tracy and Gary, for the hospitality.

THIS property feels anything but a "rental" It is--no exaggeration--THE most well-appointed, cared-for VRBO I have ever had the fortune to visit. The owners clearly have invested themselves in every inch of this lovely haven. The creek and pond are glorious--esp as experienced from the enclosed porch or hammock or swinging chair, or fire pit--and provide a haven not just for the occupant/s, but for all manner of critters including the kingfishers helping themelves to fish in the pond, deer and a plethora of hummingbirds. The sound of the creek is ever-present--soothing and so perfect next to the stillness of the pond. And with no light pollution, the night sky, too, is awe-inspiring. The home itself is outfitted with everything one could need or hope for -- from comfy furniture, cozy blankets and Direct TV (w/powerful WIFI); to a fully stocked kitchen; to yoga mats and hummingbird nectar and more. The only reason I'm willing to leave is that then I can come back. And fully intend to do so.

Great place!

Check in was easy. The home was nice and clean. The property was exceptional, with a cold creek and pond to go in! There was a constant noise between the creek and crickets, which was oddly calming. The only negative was the long gravel road, about 3/4 mile. A truck would be better than a car, but our car made it fine. Just drive slow! Overall, we loved this place and the surrounding areas!

Perfect Getaway

My husband and I spent 10 days at Compass Creek and we loved every minute of it. We had a little more rain than we would have preferred but with the screened in porch we were still able to enjoy all the beauty of nature. we did not get in the creek because we are both 76 and walking on rocks would not be wise, but we did enjoy watching and listening to it. We have stayed in a lot of cabins and this was the first time to ever have a garage, boy was that nice and so was not having any stairs. Over all it was great.

Middle of nowhere Treasure!

When looking for a place to stay. I try to look for places next to water. This place popped up and I am SO glad that we booked it! I was a little nervous when I learned we would not have cell service BUT it was just what we needed! There is GREAT Wi-Fi. The stream fed pond! Wow. We spent HOURS in a raft splashing around. The creek! Was even more magnificent! We had planned a mining day while there and my kids asked to cancel many trips. Just so we could walk in the creek for hours! The neighbors were all so nice and friendly. You HAVE to go to the Tavern if you stay here. They are now on my Christmas card list! Now I have been a city girl for a LONG time. So the drive to the grocery made me a little nervous but after a couple times it was a beautiful 15 minute drive. We travel several times a year and I was very impressed with how well stocked the house was.

Great for families

Very warm and cozy property. Kids enjoyed swimming pond and river, also variety of board games. Wifi connection was good too. My husband and me loved outside sitting area and fire pit to warm up after the swimming with cup of coffee or wine. Overall , great experience .

Let your stress melt away

When you walk in you feel at home. Everything is on one level, which is hard to find in the mountains. We spent many hours on the peaceful screened in back porch just listening to the stream and watching fish in the pond. Also cooked hotdogs on the fire pit by the stream. The location is a hour or less drive to many hiking trails, waterfalls and casinos. We took a drive each morning, but enjoyed getting back to the house to just relax and de-stress. It is so quiet and peaceful. We are already planning another visit. Tracey is very easy to work with and quick to answer any questions or address any issues. Check in is a breeze, there is also a enclosed garage which is a plus! We found everything we needed to cook meals. Furniture and beds are comfortable, if you want Wi-Fi it’s available as well as a land line phone. You won’t want to leave, thank you Tracey and Gary for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!

When looking for a lot in the area for a "someday, maybe" place to retire, we kept being drawn up Compass Creek. This home was situated on three very special creek front lots. Initially we were going to sell the house and keep a lot, but after staying on the creek, we just couldn't bring ourselves to part with it. We can't be here all the time, so we're happy to share it with nature-lovers looking for a nice affordable holiday to relax and make special memories.
