Thanksgiving 2024!

My sister, brother-in-law and I stayed at the Shell House for Thanksgiving this year but also to have a small memorial for my mom who passed away in August. It was the perfect place to be together and remember her and celebrate her favorite place be, the MS Gulf Coast, where she grew up. The place has everything and even though the setting is perfect, and the decor is just beautiful, it has a feeling of "home" and that is what we miss the most about our mama. Highly recommend this place and it was warm enough that we could sit outside by the pool and walk to the beach, too. You'll want for nothing here! We cooked our Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen, which has everything you need! The hostess, Lydia, was wonderful! Her family & friends were coming and going to celebrate the holiday, but you didn't even know they were there because the place has so much room. PERFECTION! We'll definitely be back!

Very unique place

This place is wonderful and you will not want for things to do. It rained during our whole stay so we were not able to use the pool but indoors there was every board game and magazine imaginable.With all the furniture it was a little crowded.

Wonderful Stay

The Pool House was the perfect retreat for a quick family trip. The entire property is simply beautiful and we had everything we needed. Lydia is an excellent host. We hope to be back soon!

Listing of the property completely inaccurate.

Beautiful property We were mislead as to what to expect. When we booked a couple of months ago, the ad read house for rent. We saw pictures of the house and pool house. Right before we got there we were told pool house was where we would be staying. That was fine except it was listed as a 2 bed, 2 1/2 bath sleeps 6. It is actually a 1 bed 1 1/2 bath. 2 roll out beds, but the place is cluttered so no where to put them. Also no curtains in dining room and great room so at night, the owners, who live right there in the house can look right in and anyone that pulls up can see you. No Privacy. Pool is clean, but always looks dirty. Furniture around pool and other outdoor areas need a freshening up.

Relaxing and historic home on a very private beach front

Beautiful property, hundred-year old Live Oak trees surrounding yard. Living history all thru the poolhouse accomodations, and owner shared some of the origins of home.

Beautiful Property

This property was perfect for our family vacation! The pool house was well equipped for all of our needs and wants, was exceptionally clean, and the property has the most beautiful views. Our family enjoys low key and privacy, and the pool house provided that. We truly felt at home! A big thanks to Lydia and Tom for hosting our family for the week! We'll always have fond memories of our Mississippi adventure, largely due to our experience at the Shell House Estate! We would highly recommend, and if we ever find ourselves back in Gulfport, we'll have the perfect place to stay! We miss the view already!

Family getaway

The pool house was beautiful. Just what we were looking for in our beach adventure. The kids loved the pool, water was warm so they never got too cold and had to get out. Yard is nice and shaded with fantastic views of the water. Beach was just across the road from the property. Could easily walk or take a short car ride to one of the east parking areas. Beach was beautiful, soft white sand. Since it is located on the sound the waves were very small which was great with small children. Would definitely recommend

Beautiful and peaceful vacation

We loved the pool house! The property and pool house itself were amazing. There was so much to do and see, but it was also such a relaxing atmosphere! It was honestly dreamy. Lydia provided so many things that we definitely could’ve packed much lighter. We felt very welcome and would absolutely stay here again!

Relaxing place

It was a short stay. Clean eviroment and a coffeepot my husband loved. The pool floatees are a little past their prime as my sister in law was going to put one in a realized it has a leek somewhere

Beautiful and unique

Beautiful home, pool, and property. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and two twin beds within the living room. There are also 2 cots with twin mattresses. Only small complaint is the number of chairs and furniture makes it difficult to move around at times. Otherwise amazing.

Oh my goodness - what a find!

We stayed at the Pool House at Shell House Estate as a break in the middle of a cross-country camper road trip. This is one of those places that you drive by and wonder what it looks like inside because it is so glamorous and historical on the outside. Well the inside is amazing as well!! And this was just the pool house! The kitchen looks small in the pictures, but it is very well appointed with a dishwasher, full size fridge, two ovens, and about three times the utensils you will ever need. It also had a toaster oven and 2 coffee makers. The inside was just stunningly decorated - it was fun just to look at everything. Lots of instruments and Lydia invited the kids to play them. We did quite a bit of laundry and the machines worked great. We did not go to the beach because there were some storms but Lydia had a ton of beach items for us to use. She had plenty of games and fun things to do for the kids and knew what was going on in the local area that we might be interested in. The pool was a lot of fun for the kids and there were plenty of toys to go with it. I loved the property and enjoyed my coffee on the patio with a fun turtle who stopped for a visit. Comfy living room with a tv and 2 sofas. Everything was so lovely and they were such gracious hosts! Oh! Lydia found some of our son's clothing and even mailed it back to us. We will absolutely stay here again!

Family Getaway
