Location was amazing and the house was very comfortable and clean. There was only 4 of us so ample space and bathrooms. Really the only issue was no billiards balls for the pool table. At least we couldn’t find any.

Great place for groups!

We had a wonderful time celebrating our graduation with 17 people! The house honestly looks bigger in person than in the pictures. The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans for us to cook for our large group and the table held all of us. The pool was great with plenty of furniture and space, as well as a basically private beach. There is a slight walk to the beach around the sand dune, but it was easy to manage. the pool table was fun and there are lots of outdoor decks to hang out on! Would definitely return in the future!

Great location and property

Very easy access to the beach. The property and pool were clean and well kept. The kitchen was also very well stocked making preparing meals at the house very simple during our stay. We would definitely stay here again!

Spring Break 2025

Great location, lots of space. There were 7 of us and we had plenty of room. Nice space for the dogs. GREAT views of the sunrise. Close to a lot of places to eat and things to do. Highly recommend!

Took the family and dog. Nice place. very spacious and comfortable. Close to the ocean for walking and many choices for fun stuff to do and restaurants recommend showing up before dark. definitely would go back.

Great house for a large family or two families

The house was adequate. It doesn't have that awe factor, but it definitely not a dump. In my opinion, it is ready for some repairs, minor touch ups and TLC. However, it is a beach house. It is perfect for families with kids with plenty of bedrooms. If a minor incident happen inside the residence, I seriously doubt it would be noticed, because it is not in pristine condition.

November beach trips with pups

My husband, I, and our 2 pups stayed for a extra long weekend at the sea gull cottage and we really enjoyed our stay! We love obx and It was our pups first time at the beach and they loved it as well! Close to everything, clean and as described! Would recommend!

EXCELLENT PROPERTY! FABULOUS WEEKEND

Stayed for the weekend of my Birthday. Location was great as its oceanfront with a quick walk to the beach. This is an older house but for the most part well kept. Kids loved the pool table. My only complaint would be that its loud having the pool table up on the top floor but i see why they did it to get more beds in the house. Have been going to the Outer Banks for years and love it down there. Would definitely stay here again.

We had such a wonderful time...

Even though it was stormy it was a great time! There was plenty of room for all our people and 6 dogs! I loved the porches and having the fenced in place was wonderful for the dogs! The beach was just a short walk away with a walk way for most of the way. The pool was great with plenty of seating area for those good pool days.

Beautiful sunrises!

Easy walk to the beach and the house was very nice. I only wish one of the patios faced the beach. The only one that did was screened in and sat low so there was no view. The nicest balcony faced the parking lot. The pool was lovely and we were in a perfect location.

Could have been better

Only problem was ability to get to the beach. Had to get around large dune over path that was not easy to maneuver. We were happy with almost everything but this. Also having many people sleep in beds put in the same bedroom. That’s ok for kids but not so comfortable for the adults

Spacious and convenient

We had a great stay. Very convenient to beach w/ lifeguard, and beach was excellent both for teenage boogie-boarding and small kids wading & playing in sand. Nags head very convenient, without some of the traffic problems in other places on the banks. Six comfortable, private rooms in the house - so plenty of places for people to sleep without requiring "pull-out beds in the living room" type arrangements. Easily accommodated 16 people for meals, and could have fit more with no problem. Liked the pool table. Convenient check-in, ready early, very pet-friendly, and good communications. A few small quibbles - we did encounter one roach (well, it is the South). Some beach towels would have been very welcome for people flying from far away. Likewise, why not keep basic condiments from guest to guest so we don't have to buy everything again? But overall I'd definitely recommend it.

Perfect week on the beach

We had a wonderful time! The house was perfect. I enjoyed seeing the sunrise every morning from the back deck. There was plenty of room for all of us and the multiple decks gave everyone there space to read a book, do yoga or listen to music! Great experience!

This house served its purpose for our family to stay in. Unfortunately most of the walk way to the beach was buried in sand (which you couldn’t see from the listing) which made it difficult for our older adults to get to the beach. (We weren’t sure if that was something that had just happened or not). We also noticed some bugs and a few cockroaches around the property, the bathroom exhaust fans weren’t functional, and the breaker in the kitchen kept shutting off if more than one appliance was used at a time. All in all we were able to work with it very well and it was a nice place to stay in. We really enjoyed the pool area since the weather wasn’t super ideal for the beach (and of course the walkway). We appreciate how quick responses were over the last year whenever we had a question as well. Thank you for the stay!

Beautiful family vacation

Family vacation in Nags head was perfect. The house was able to accommodate a lot of people. The close proximity to shops, restaurants, and fun family activities was great. Being on the beach was definitely a plus. Thank you for letting us make memories here

Spring OBX Weekend

My friends and I met up for a long weekend in March and the property was exactly as expected. Great beach access and all the deck options were great. Would absolutely rent again.

Our Founder, Dr. Sarah Forbes passed away in 2011. She was a compassionate physician, dedicated to her patients becoming Norfolk General’s first female chief resident of OB/GYN.
In 1958, she became the first female physician to open a private OB/GYN practice in Newport News, VA.
Dr. Forbes was the first woman to be selected to the board, and the first female president, of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, where she was honored as a member of the “Wall of Fame” – the first and only woman to be so honored in the club’s 65-year history.

Sarah was often honored for her contributions to the organizations she served, and the community she loved.
Among her many awards were the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities’ Humanitarian Award in 2007, and the Medallion Award which is the highest recognition presented by The Boys and Girls Club of America to volunteers.

She served as president of several community organizations that include the Virginia Peninsula Academy of Medicine, the Newport News Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, and the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Her generosity benefited many organizations, including the Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Family Planning Council, First Baptist Church of Newport News, the Peninsula SPCA, Mariners’ Museum, Riverside Hospital, and Christopher Newport University.

We are continuing Dr. Forbes’ Legacy
All of our vacation homes are owned by Sarah E. Forbes MD, Trust which continues her legacy by using our profits to make regular donations to the charities she loved.
We take care of the houses like she would have wanted.
