First off the layout of the house was great. It fit our needs perfectly. There was attention given to making sure everyone would be comfortable. However I do have several complaints about specific amenities.
When we arrived at the house, the internal temperature as per the nest thermostat was 50 degrees. 50 degrees exactly. I feel that is unreasonably cold. I understand wanting to save energy but it was barely warmer in the house that the outside temperature. Since the house is so large it took HOURS to warm it to a comfortable temperature.
My family who was visiting are from Africa, so they are used to a warm climate, and my grandmother is 80 years old, so everyone was so chilled we had to huddle by the gas fireplace. That was great accept the fireplace would only run for a short time and then sputter out. We contacted the owner through text message and she did not respond very quickly, and when she did, she did not address our issue. In the end we found the fireplace would have to sit for 1+ hour before you could turn it on again. That was a huge disappointment since the fireplace was a main reason we chose the property.
The Cable box's HDMI cable was disconnected for the tv in the main level bedroom and also was completely dead. It would not power on at all. I had to take the cable box from the living room into her bedroom in order for it to work. Consequently then there was no working cable box for the living room.
The remote for TV in the living room would not work, so we had to use the physical power button on the back of the tv to turn it on and off. The DVD player in the living room would not work because its HDMI cable was disconnected.
The basement smart TV would not work because it was disconnected from the internet. I had to go through its network setup.
None of this was too difficult for me to fix because I actually do Audio/Video Installation for a living, however I should not have had to spend 1+ hour fixing tv's.
The towel rack in the basement bathroom was ripped out of the wall and therefore unusable.
When we arrived, the gas barbecue was completely dumped over with its contents spilled out. We let the owner know so she would not think we did it. My father and I felt inclined to go out in the rain and lift the barbecue back up and cover it so it would not be ruined. The lock for the strap on the hot tub was rusted and so the key (which the handle of was broken) could not turn the lock by hand. Pliers required.
