Ok stay but a few glitches
I’ll start off by saying that Wayne and Diane are super nice and were great at communicating when we had problems. That being said. I wasn’t really expecting any problems for a property priced a little above average with all 5 star ratings.
The good: the cabin had enough space for our family and was cozy, the location was pretty secluded and had a nice trail on the property, the kitchen was small but had all we needed, the supply of linens was nice and you could tell Wayne out a lot of personal touches on building the cabin.
The bad: The last part of the drive into the property was 1.2 miles on a dirt road and it was a primitive dirt road. I lived on a dirt road growing up and this was one of the more rugged dirt roads I had driven on in my travels. The road was narrow, there were a lot of large rocks and it was steep. We have a minivan. We drove 5 mph and didn’t break an axle or get a hole in our radiator but it took us 15 minutes to drive the 1.2 miles. You don’t need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get in and out but it would have been very helpful and I think people should know this so they can decide. Also, the cabin had a ton of lady bugs which you might think is cute but when you find them in your drink or buzzing in your ear at night, it’s not so cute. I also killed 8-9 wasps while were were there and one of them was sitting on a bath towel that my son was about to use coming out of the shower. We didn’t leave the doors open in the cabin as it was chilly so both the wasps and lady bugs were coming from somewhere in the house. Wayne and Diane offered to come and vacuum up the lady bugs but we were more than half way through our stay at this point and it would have been disruptive. The last problem was with the water which which ended up becoming a trickle 4 days into a 6 day stay. We called Wayne and Diane and Wayne came out within 2 hours and unclogged one of the pipes leading into the cabin. He said this sometimes happens. The water ran fine after that except for some occasional air in the pipes.
So overall it wasn’t a bad stay and we made the best of our stay. The cabin had many cute features and they did refund us 1/7th of the total amount we paid due to the inconvenience but it would have been nice to not have it in the first place. We did appreciate their responsiveness though.
Some true points and some very exaggerated points.
The road is rough but many people travel it daily with no damage to their cars. . Our son always drove his lowrider Camaro in and out of here for 10 years.
The water department is rural system and sadly there was a leak that was fixed within the same day it was found and I don't believe there was ever absolutely no water for our guests.
We are frustrated about a couple of weeks a year when the ladybugs become out of control and the WASPS begin waking up... We are sorry for these guests that they happened to be here at that time, which is why we refunded them $25 per night for their inconvenience.
We are proud that we do not add additional fees for our self at allb on to our nightly rate or the total.
We offer a clean beautiful secluded environment at Pappy's cabin and many many people in the past two-and-a-half years have embraced that,. Our regrets that these guests could not enjoy fully.
Top of the list
Great fit for us and our dog on a long weekend. Quiet, remote, clean and comfortable. And convenient to the area attractions. Thanks Wayne!
So glad that we can offer Pappy's cabin to guests like Phil that can enjoy the area. And thank you all so much for being great and working with us on keeping everything neat and clean. Of course you're welcome back anytime!
Vicino al Buffalo River National Park, man e passeggiate e ottima scalata e ancora a poco più di un'ora da Branson, nel Missouri, con grandi divertimenti e ristoranti.
