Lovely holiday for three weeks in February/March.
We like to visit a different Caribbean island every February to escape the British winter. I based my decision to book this lovely apartment on the other two reviews and I’m glad I did. This was our first visit to St Vincent and whilst its tourist industry is not exactly sophisticated it has a lot of charm and once we settled in we had a great time. We enjoyed meeting local people very much.
The grounds are very nice and the accommodation situated in a very good neighbourhood. The interior is spacious. The veranda is better than the photo. It’s generous in size, about 23 feet by seven feet. As you’re high up the view to the sea is very nice; perfect for morning coffee. The washing machine is very good. The apartment is appropriately priced.
As this forum is to assist other travellers I have to add that we had some difficulty with the shower head and hot water. The owner responded without delay and things were sorted out satisfactorily.
The second bedroom does not have a window.
The road up to the property is about 1/2 mile long and it’s steep. My husband and I are fit and active baby boomers and it was too much for us. No problem with the 15+ minute walk downhill to the main road and bus stops then an easy stroll to Indian Bay. We took the local buses a couple stops to Sunset Shores and Young Island and on non-beach days into Kingstown. We always planned our return so a taxi took us up the hill. Very reasonable price and well worth it.
An excellent taxi driver is Carlos of Hevy Taxi tel 1(784) 493-0600. It’s his own immaculate van and he takes great pride in providing a superb service for his guests. The owner arranged for him to collect us from the airport when we arrived.
We had a wonderful holiday with perfect weather and are very happy to recommend this apartment to fellow travellers.
Amazing people and once in a lifetime experiences
First, my husband and I had the most amazing time exploring and enjoying St Vincent and neighboring islands. The accommodations (and people taking care of them) were just what we wanted. The book/map was great! We did everything on the list except the volcano and that was only because we got a cold. The only down fall for us was the lack of transportation. We found the most amazing driver but sometimes opted to stay in versus walk the hill again or call a taxi. Oh and the “hot shower” was cold. Other than that it was absolutely the perfect place for us and we loved our time spent in this special place.
The perfect accommodation in paradise (Villa, St. Vincent)
I have NEVER felt compelled to leave a review for anything in all of my years of traveling the world. However, I reluctantly leave this review for this property. I say reluctantly, not because the stay was horrible or anything, but because I am now afraid that when I try to book it again, it will not be available as other people are able to experience the pure bliss of this hidden jewel. Charming does not do it justice. The apartment is located in a residential area of Villa and is convenient to the maxi/taxi/local transportation route (approximately an 8 minute walk downhill) where you can be in Tokyo (Kingstown's main area with the local market and oldest and best restaurant (VeeJay's)) within 15 minutes.
Let's start with the airport pickup - quick and efficient. Upon arriving at the apartment, I was given a tour of the unit, provided with a very detailed guest guidebook (even though I have visited Vincy previously, this was great to have), and given the all so important wi-fi code. They even provided bottle water, bread, tea, coffee, peanuts, chocolates, and some eggs to get me started as I arrived late in the evening. Although I travel with food because I am a picky eater, this royal welcome definitely was a great touch (Can you say above and beyond??). The unit comes equipped with fresh linens, towels, and even some basic toiletries such as toothpaste and toothbrushes. Again, I travel with my own towels and toiletries, but the little extras truly mean a lot. After having the tour of the unit, which was very spacious I must add, Camella and her mom bid me adieu for the evening and let me know they were only a call or Whatsapp away.
I could go on and on ranting and raving about this apartment, but I will just end by saying this: if you are looking for a place that is spacious, well equipped, VERY clean, has all of the comforts of home (wherever you call home, although I think within a matter of minutes you will quickly come to think of Vincy as home), close to one of the local beaches, within a 15 minute walk of a bar, a 20 minute walk from a local store to pick up groceries, and in a very quiet neighborhood (minus the roosters), this IS the location for you. You will not find another unit where you get a tremendous return on your investment. Just promise me you will leave it available for the time that I would like to comeback because this WILL be my home away from home EVERY VISIT until I make Vincy my permanent home.
