Great Hidden Gem

It's just outside of town but right on the beach. You can't go wrong with this location. The grocery store is just over a mile away, along with entertainment and shopping.

The Flamingo was awesome

My husband and I stayed 7 days. Had a few minor issues but they were quickly taken care of. The house keepers were efficient and quick and the main't man was terrific, very helpful. We hired a chef for 5 of the days and he was the best decision ever!! He made the vacation even more memorable. The pool was sensational and where we stayed most of the time. The ocean view was great but the current was too rough in that area to swim and the beach had debris which is common for DR.All in all I highly recommend any of the 4 houses in the compound.

Paradise away from home!!!

We spent the entire month of September - 2019 in this beautiful house and it is worth every penny! This was exactly what my family and I envisioned and are super happy that we booked this house Special thanks to all the staff - Jeremy, Alfredo, Maria (Manager), and the others who were always there for anything that we needed. We were also able to meet Frank Leone who visited us and made sure we were having a good time! Thank you Frank & all the staff! We will be back next year! Mordasini Family

Mixed feelings about Flamingo. Overall, the house grew on us and we enjoyed our stay

The house was spacious for our 6 adults and 2 children. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cook ware, although the fridge barely works and needs replacement. Mercedes, the maid was wonderful. Sara, the chef, made us a few tasty meals. The pool was great for adults but the steep steps are treacherous for little kids. The house is quite secluded and a good 45 minute walk into Cabarete so if you want activity and nearby nightlife, this is not the place for you. It’s very peaceful and quiet and basically the only noise you’ll here is the waves crashing against the shore. The waves are very strong and the beach is not good for swimming. There is 1 restaurant about a 7 minute walk from the house that serves a good breakfast. Frank, the owner was wonderful to deal with.

Hello Darlene, We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Villa Flamingo. I checked in with you several times during your stay and there was no mention of any problems with the fridge. We will certainly check on that. I wish that you would have mentioned that to me or any of the staff. Would have been a quick easy fix. We have had many families with all age children over the last 7 years and the pool has remained unchanged since it was built. This is the first instance of a concern over the pool steps during that time. I’m sorry if they caused you any problems. As we tell all guests in our Welcome Letter, the ocean currents can be treacherous at times and only experienced ocean swimmers or surfers should go swimming. It is the Atlantic with great waves and breaks that many guests search for to allow them to surf right in front of the villa. Thank you for staying at Villa Flamingo. Ciao, Frank and the Staff at Villa Flamingo.

Perfect for Family Vacation

We had an amazing experience at the Flamingo Villa. The area is beautiful and so much to do. Though we couldn’t swim at the beach right in front of the villa, we had an amazing pool and epic views! (The swimming beach is not far )The villa was perfect for our family (8 people). And we had family and friends in two other villas on the property - 20 people total!! We had the chef a couple of days and she did an amazing job cooking local cuisine. Thanks Jenny - it was delicious!! Jeremy was our go-to for whatever we needed. He was so very helpful. And having Eduardo and his folks as our drivers for the week made it easy and fun to get around. Golf one day, waterfalls another and ended the week with a full afternoon snorkeling off a catamaran around reefs off Sosúa Beach! Can’t wait to go back! Thank you Frank for all your EXTREMELY helpful tips! This is the place to go to vacation and RELAX ... do it all or none of it. There’s no way you won’t enjoy your stay!!!

Amazing location

We spent a month in Villa Flamingo in July and had a wonderful time. The location of the house is absolutely amazing - front row with an breathtaking view of the ocean. The ocean is rough here, but we swam in the ocean every day. If you take care and never get too far out, it's a lot of fun. Also, if you walk about 50 meters to the right on the beach, there is a small patch of calmer water, at least that what's we experienced on many days. I cannot say enouh wonderful things about the staff; they take SO good care of you, and always with a smile. They even helped my practice my Spanish :-) My correspondence with Frank was fantastic - he always answered my MANY questions within a few hours, both many months before our arrival, but also during our stay. The house itself has minor issues of wear and tear, mostly due to weather conditiontions I think, but whenever we mentioned any of these to the staff, or to Frank, they were taken care of immediately. The Dominican Republic is a beautiful country, its people are great and Cabarete is a fun little town to set up tent in. We hope to return one day....

Hello Christine, Thank you for your great review! We know bed preferences can be very diverse and are very important to us. Our beds are medium to firm. We find that this firmness level is comfortable for most of our guests. Sorry that it was not the perfect match for you. We did not receive any notifications that there were any shower issues. Had we, it would have been an easy and fast fix. We wish you and your family a Happy New Year. Thanks again for staying at Villa Flamingo. Ciao, Frank and the Staff at Villa Flamingo.

The staff were amazing!

My family and I had a wonderful time staying in the Villa Flamingo. The staff here were wonderful, with Jeremy being very helpful with setting up excursions and even coming out in the middle of night in a rainstorm to fix a small leak around a window. We also used chef, Yenny, to cook for us our last day. She was great, prepared some fresh fish we had caught the day before which was delicious. Caberete is a nice little town, with a ton of shops and restaraunts right on the beach. It was a great time walking along the shore downtown, exploring all the local places. La Casita de Papi was particularily good. Overall, had a wonderful time and I'd definetly reccomend this place!

Absolute Paradise!

Villa Flamingo was even better than we imagined. The house is spectacular and is better than the pictures! The only sound you hear is the ocean and the view is stunning while sitting out by the pool or many lovely outdoor sitting areas. The beach is very private. When we looked out in any direction you were either the only ones or you may see a few others pass by throughout the day. Unlike in the town of Cabarete, it is very peaceful. The house is about 2 miles from town. You can take a 40 min walk down the beach to get there or walk up to the main road and catch a moto-taxi. There are some good restaurants in town but be prepared to be approached may times to buy local goods, hair braiding, tour guides, etc. Janet's Supermarket is in town and has everything you would need to make great meals at the house. The house has a nice kitchen with all the cooking utensils needed. The house staff was fabulous. Jeremy will even crawl up a palm tree and cut you down fresh coconuts. Maria helped us set up massages on the beach and even bought me one as a birthday gift! They all go above and beyond to make you feel safe and help with any vacation needs. Jose was great for transportation to and from the airports. Billy helped us set up the tours we wanted to do. Do NOT miss the Monkey Jungle tour. It was amazing to feed and have Squirrel Monkeys crawl all over you. Absolutely unforgettable! I would definitely stay at this house again and again!

Needs Work

The property looks nice from the outside but it has issues. First of all the wifi did not work on the upper floors. We had not cable t.v and the care taker tried switching the tv with one from a different property .... no good. Any how the mattresses in the small bedrooms on the 1st floor were very uncomfortable. Also the beach was not that attractive or easy to walk on. Also when my group arrived the place was not set up for us. I understand that the place is pet friendly but the suspended couch outside hard dog hair all over it. Now to get to the real problem I have with Frank the owner he is a conman he stated in the advertisement for the villa that there is no parties of more than 10 people allowed which is cool. Then he sticks at the end of a email for the refund policy that you can not have guess for more than one hour. Number one that is kinda of shady because the villa is already paid for, that should have been in the original advertisement on the site under the house rules!!!! When my group checked in the onsite agent for the villa was nowhere to be found but later on when they thought we were having a big party she showed up in 10 minutes making threats about calling the police...lol... that is a scam my friends got scared and wanted to leave the next day I would have stayed and called them on their scam but I was talked out of it In parting I would just like to warn people beware of scams in DR trust nobody and do not underestimate them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is very rare that we have guests with total disregard for our property and rules. This guest and his all male group wanted a party house to bring young local professional girls; as they did against my rules and personal requests not to the first day they arrived. Our Policy is clearly stated on our listing and contract that No Unregistered Guests are Allowed. This means that unless you are on the list of registered guests made at the time of making the registration, you are not permitted on the property. This is done for the security of our guests and property. There are groups of men that visit the DR to prey on the local girls. We do not want their business or them on our property. This group of 4 men were warned on the first day to remove the 6 young local women averaging 20 years old from the property. They responded with threats, hostility and refused to remove the Unregistered Guests. I asked them to leave the next day and they did. As to the problems with the property; our staff was there to exchange the tv with a working tv. There are a few lovely dogs around the property that most guests love. The maid cleans every day and would have gladly cleaned the beach bed on request. We have had no guest complaints about our beds. Of course, mattresses perfect for one may be not the best for another. As far as the beach being “unattractive and not easy to walk”, you can walk for 3 miles in either direction on a soft sandy beach with hardly a soul to be seen. I have been all around the world and this stretch of beach is one of my favorites. I don’t think these guests were there to spend time walking on or enjoying the beach. As evidenced by this guest’s own words; “Now to get to the real problem”, the complaints prior to this statement were not really the reason for their one star review. Of all the properties we have listed on Homeaway, we have never received a one star review. We usually receive 5 star reviews with a sprinkling of 4 and a couple 3. If it is your desire to rent Villa Flamingo to bring local professional girls there, then please know this is not the place for you. We have hosted many families, guy groups and girl groups in the past with no issues like this group presented us with. Kind Regards, Frank

Thank you Frank for your beautiful home and the amazing staff! I travelled with 3 of my dear friends to this beautiful home on the ocean. Every day we woke up to paradise. The staff is top notch! Jeremy climbed the coconut trees to get us fresh coconuts - Mercedes had the home cleaned and beautiful every day. Every one that works at the property went out of their way to make our vacation was wonderful. We had massages at the home our first day. I would highly recommend this. Sarah the chef cooked the best food! Having sarah cook for you is a must! We had amazing left overs for 2 days. We walked 5 minutes down the beach to Martinis... A fantastic happy hour. Jose our driver was there for us with a smile on his face when ever we needed a ride. Cannot say enough wonderful things about this property and staff!

The most fabulous property in DR!!!

After much debate on locations and hotels vs all-inclusives vs a house rental....we decided on The Flamingo in Cabarete and I don't regret our decision one bit. 8 friends stayed in this house and every single one of us want to rebook next year, have told our other friends and family, and want to rent the whole neighborhood!! Frank was phenomenal in his communication with me, even through a hurricane - which PS, "generally" hurricanes don't affect the DR quite in the same way they do many other islands....so don't let that worry you, and you can feel completely confident they'll be honest in saying what is good or not (as far as conditions). Frank answered so many questions, at all hours of the day, sent pictures for reassurance...you name it, he would do it to help me out. The staff that works at the house are equally as impressive. Everyone is very nice and extremely helpful. Some ability to speak Spanish will help a lot, so do your homework! They kept our place clean, they helped us get to town, they made us feel very safe the whole week...someone was always around at the gated entrance, or within the neighborhood to assist with whatever was needed. I would give The Flamingo, Frank, and all the staff a 10 star review if it was an option. Thanks to everyone for a great and very memorable trip. Hope to see you all again soon....please give lots of love to Luna for us!!!

Great location, great weather, and great people.

The house was fantastic with great views of the ocean being just right outside any window. The people that work for Frank are amazing, the security guards don't really speak english but have a translator that works well. Maria the landlord goes above and beyond her duties to make sure everyone is doing well and if need anything. The security dogs are awesome as well especially Luna who is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. Privacy was great definitely a place to escape everything and enjoy your vacation. Getting the chef was also a great thing to have to have a whole day of relaxing and not having to cook. Would totally recommend this Villa to anyone who was thinking of staying here. Thanks to everyone that helped us out and place and vacation were excellent.

Family Fun at Villa Flamingo

Villa Flamingo was a great place to spend a week with our family of 10. As a Christmas present every other year we (the grandparents) give our kids and grandkids (4 of them, now ages 2 to 14) a week together somewhere warm. We've vacationed as a family 8 times in different locations. Having never been to the Dominican Republic, but having heard mixed reviews, we decided to take a chance, and we're very glad we did. All the adults agreed it was the best property so far - enough bedrooms/baths for all, beautiful infinity pool and right on the beach. The kids had a ball swimming in the pool, playing in the sand, walking the beach and looking for crabs at night. Other reviewers have mentioned the rough water, but we are used to Atlantic Ocean waves in the Northeast, and we all went in the water during our stay. We had fun experiences in the local community and never felt uneasy in our forays outside the villa. Our experience may have been different, as none of the other villas in the complex were rented, so we had the entire property to ourselves. Miguel, the maintenance guy, always asked if everything was okay, and immediately addressed any problems. We were happy that our son is more fluent in Spanish than the rest of us, as it helped to converse with the staff. The maid (who also turned out to be our chef) spoke very little English, but we got along just fine with sign language when we didn't have our "translator" close by. An added bonus for us was the direct flight and only a 20-minute transport to and from the villa. Great experience!

I recently held my wedding at Villa Flamingo. The Villa is located in a serene spot on the edge of the ocean, away from the hustle and bustle of the Cabarete, but close enough to enjoy Cabarete and Sosua’s vibrant nightlife. This villa is spacious, beautiful and clean. The staff at the villa were exceptional. The chef prepared an excellent traditional Dominican buffet for the wedding guest. Everyone went above and beyond what I required and made my big day one I will never forget! Having a private beach right outside your door is a great way to relieve the stress of planning a wedding. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful. I whole heartedly recommend them as the ideal venue for your destination wedding. I definitely will be back.

The house and the staff are perfection. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived

The house is very comfortable and the location is perfect. The oceanfront with the spectacular view can't be beat. And for those who are not salt water fans or good swimmers as the rip current can be a bit strong, the pool was excellent. Highly recommend booking the chef. It was the best treat arrive and do absolutely nothing for the entire first day. Lots of beach walking venders, buyer beware. Steer clear of the snorkel trip to paradise island. The snorkeling sucks but the rum makes up for it. Frank is the best. Highly responsive, all questions and requests addressed. Great vacation, highly recommend this property

Ideal family vacation location

My family of 7 stayed at the Villa Flamingo from Dec. 22/15 to Jan.7/16 to celebrate my Mom's milestone birthday gift to us; a family vacation. Suggestions from Frank and previous clients were spot on- from selecting Jose to pick us up from the airport, to hiring the chef to cook for us, to the recommendation of Martinis just a short walk down the beach for meals and drinks. The staff at the Villa were so kind and accommodating, despite their limited English and our limited Spanish we managed to communicate our needs perfectly. The pool and grounds were well maintained, and Mercedes (the maid) was quick to clean up after us. We felt safe on the grounds and never feared being in an unfamiliar country. The bedrooms were well appointed with the room sizes, bed linens and towels, and a lot of closet and storage space. The kitchen was also well stocked with both glass and plastic dishes and glasses- to enjoy at the poolside/outside and in house dining. We were warned that the internet would be inconsistent, but we were very fortunate as we only experienced 'spotty' service a few times in the full 16 days that we were there. Good news for the young adults who needed to stay connected! An excursion guide made a 'house call' and provided us with a variety of excursions that we could choose from, which would have necessitated a trip to town for this service otherwise. We enjoyed trips to town for the beach restaurants, bars and beach life- both during the day and at night.Speaking of waves- Frank's description of the waves and undertow was accurate. No one in our group went against advice but we did see a few that did- with thankfully no negative outcomes. During our stay the remaining 3 other Villas had occupants that stayed for various times and lengths, but despite the numbers you never felt crowded on the property.Castilino (the chef) was hired to make meals for 8 of our 16 days. His meals were tasty, filling and beautifully presented. He made so much food that we had to ask him to omit lunches as we couldn't keep up with all of the food!Overall- we were thrilled with my mom's selection of this vacation rental, the service we received from the owner and the staff that supported the Villas. I would fully recommend this location for anyone wanting to experience a relaxing and laid back time with a group.
