Peaceful stay nestled in the mountains

My husband and I's stay here was absolutely perfect. The cabin has a lot of charm and you can tell the owners put a lot of thought into the property. The highlight of our stay was watching the sunrise in the hot tub with warm cups of coffee. Love how private and quiet it is. We will definitely choose to stay here again!

Delightful property

We moved to Florida in January from North Carolina and were dying for some fall weather. This mountain cabin was the perfect setting for our fall getaway. We were able to easily get to Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain to do some hiking. We really loved it here!

Lovely place

Rented over Halloween weekend. Found a couple dirty dishes and bits of grim, but otherwise an absolute joy! Even had a deer walk through the front yard while we were downstairs!

Wonderful Summer Retreat at Winds Aloft

Our family will never forget our stay at Winds Aloft because on that trip we decided to move to North Carolina permanently! The cabin was perfect for us, very cozy. The only request I would have made was for the mattresses to be updated. Otherwise we loved everything and hope to come back again!

Beautiful setting and cozy cabin.

The yard is so beautiful and the cabin is super comfortable. The cabin was clean, especially for a place that allows pets, but showing its’ age in some aspects. Air conditioning was truly not needed at the height of summer! The location is also perfect, super convenient to everything we needed and wanted to do, and the drives were easy. Thank you!

Quiet with a beautiful view from the living room

Do not attempt to drive the last 1200 feet of the steep road to the cabin if there is snow or ice without a 4 wheel drive vehicle or SUV without snow chains, you will not make it. The cabin was great, quiet, comfortable, nice views, great yard, hot tub was awesome.

Great location and cabin but the hot tub was not working

This is a very nice cabin. There was a funny odor in the house. The hot tub, the main reason for selecting this property, was not working and could not be fixed - a leak apparently. So if the hot tub is working, this place is very nice.

Gorgeous, cozy cabin in the woods

Beautiful cabin, actually even *more* cozy than we expected from the pictures. Gas heater is very strong and easily kept us toasty. Plenty of towels and blankets! Good dishes/cups/etc. and had coffee, tea and creamer available which was a nice surprise. Hot tub worked great and we had fun with it! We were very blessed with snow throughout the visit, and the grounds are beautiful to watch with snow falling. Overall everything we could have hoped for on a “snowcation”! We’d definitely like to return someday!We had a couple issues (the fireplace didn’t work and we had a pretty bad electrical short with the washer), but we were in contact with management during the trip, and after the visit they’ve followed up to genuinely try to make it right, so we are still very pleased.Last note: the owners advise you must have 4-wheel drive in the winter — this is true! We did and were totally fine, but a friend with front-wheel drive tried to stop by and couldn’t make it up!

Winds Aloft

A lot of things didn’t work or were inoperable, including the ice maker in the refrigerator freezer, the remote for the gas logs, no wifi or television usage whatsoever, mattress in the master bedroom needs to be replaced, paper towels stuffed into a hole in the wall underneath kitchen cabinets (in the corner), light can be seen through back door, many other general upgrades needed throughout cabin. Not nearly worth the cost of rental due to the overall disrepair of structure. The online pictures are very flattering when compared to actual product. Also, there’s some sort of critter or rodent residing behind the paneling or in the locked closet/storage area. We could hear its claws scratching and scurrying around throughout the weekend, enough to wake us from our sleep. Overall the only outstanding positives were the view and the hot tub.

Wonderful rental cabin!

The view and hot tub were simply amazing. The location was perfect for our time hiking and visiting wineries. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed to cook meals and relax in the evening after hiking and exploring the area. The door lock went offline, and I had to call the after-hours maintenance number and they solved it and sent a new code immediately. We had a wonderful time, and I would recommend this rental.

Very private and homey

This cabin is in the perfect setting. The privacy is great, and you can sit in the living room, by the fireplace, and watch the sunrise over the mountains. Beautiful views and very clean.
