It was a terrible situation with the hot water heater because we could not get the part to fix it for these guests so we did give them a credit for the inconvenience. However, we got a report from a neighbor and the tenant downstairs that these guests were shooting off fireworks around 8:30 at night and this is when California had multiple fires going on. When speaking with the neighbor, she said they were out on the deck at 1:00 in the morning visiting even though signs posted at the property clearly instruct guests to take all activities indoors after 10 p.m. because of the way voices carry to nearby neighbors. The tenant downstairs reported the sound of people running on the deck above his unit late at night. I went by the house to do a post checkout walkthrough and the guests were still there at 12:15 when checkout was at 11 but they were not authorized for a late checkout and when asked about this, they seemed very unconcerned. I would say that this group did not follow house rules very well and we will not rent to them again.
