The reason that the $225 fee is charged is because the island of St. Thomas collects it instead of collecting Lodging (Sales) Tax.

We are so sorry you were disappointed with your stay. The suites were fully redone last year after the hurricanes so the room would only be dated by one year. We are not aware of any hotels that redo their rooms every year and thus feel we are in keeping with industry standards. We show in our correspondence to you that we told you there would be two twin beds in lieu of a king bed, so this shouldn't have been a surprise. We hope that you communicated to the on-site service staff about the broken fold out bed so that it was fixed for your stay and for future guests as well. Sometimes if guests have the air conditioning running and the windows/doors open at the same time, this can create moisture in humid climates like St. Thomas. Since your stay was during COVID, it has been difficult to keep a consistent full housekeeping staff as the priority has been to keep all of the guests and staff safe and perhaps this is why there was a delay in cleaning your unit on one of the days and also could be the cause of the delay in the restocking of towels, coffee and cream. The resort is trying its best to provide the same experience during the pandemic as before but we are grateful for any understanding of delays while they make safety the top concern. We appreciate your business nonetheless.
