Incredible!!!

I didn't realize this was also listed on VRBO. I would have written a review right after we stayed. We rented through Five Star who were extremely helpful also. Actually stayed in December 2009 for 3 nights either first weekend or second weekend - I can't remember which. My husband and I decided the family needed a get-together to take our minds off of tough times and thought we'd surprise everyone with a luxury weekend. Wow! Everyone is still talking about it and we're doing our best to fit it in our budget again this year. I can't tell you how amazing our stay was and we thoroughly enjoyed all the family pictures. Would love someday to also be able to spend time in the spring or summer. The best part was watching mom (81) enjoy her three daughters, husbands, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she insisted we play scrabble until we dropped! Thank you so much for making your home our home!!

Fun House

The house is Huge & very accommodating to our group of 13. We had kids from 7-18 YO & there was enough space for them to do their thing while adults did ours. Loved that the dining table was able to seat us all at one time. The kitchen & pantry were well stocked with all the cooking dishes etc. house was clean & comfortable. we had some issues with the AC being out upstairs the first night but the property manager handled as quickly as possible & it was fixed by the next morning. Our biggest complaint was having regular maintenance people show up unannounced at uncomfortable times. The Gardener & the window washers specifically. A couple of things we wish we knew ahead of time: 1) you have to physically check in to get the access code to the house or make arrangements ahead of time. I was told the day we were to arrive we had to be there before 9pm & that wasn’t our plan. 2) Communication could be better: there are 3 parties that do different things: You check in with the check in agent, the property manager coordinates fixing stuff & helping if there are issues & the property owner that schedules regular maintenance 3) they warn you but legit there are no spices in the house so bring everything even salt & pepper. 4) the pools surface is rough have the kids wear socks to protect their feet Overall a great location & would go back.

Not as advertised or expected.

This is a very expensive property. My friends and I rented it for our annual Big Bear weekend ski trip with our children. The description on the VRBO website states: "We would like to welcome you to an estate that will meet and exceed your expectations." It was the opposite and fell sorely short of even any minimal expectations, or basic requirements. The property description and condition were misrepresented. We are requesting a refund of the rental charge. There was no freezer, no WIFI, no instruction manual, we were given 2 different check in locations and 2 different check in times to pick up keys when it is a keyless entry, the dishwashers had a nauseating smell, there weren't enough forks, mugs, etc. for the capacity, the spa was dirty, some of the bedrooms were cold, there was standing water in one of the showers and in another the water poured out the shower door, many of the TVs didn't work in the bedrooms, 2 of the fireplaces didn't work, one of the ovens didn't work, trash compactor didn't work, there was trash in the backyard when we arrived and many of the lights in the main room didn't work. There was no resolution when we called about the dishwasher and freezer. We have never complained about a VRBO rental, however, the condition of this property was sorely below standards and unacceptable, and diminished the enjoyment of our stay. I would look elsewhere when renting a property in Big Bear.

Family Getaway

Strengths: The home is large and had wonderful space for a family of 15. Neighborhood was beautiful and home within walking distance to local park, near the lake and has a pool, which is always on our list and hard to find in Big Bear. Less than 5 minute drive to markets and the village. We enjoyed golf, the zoo, hiking and Bear Mountain basecamp. Concerns that resulted in 3 Star overall rating: 1. Cleanliness: cob webs and active spider nests behind many of the bedroom window blinds. Ants were pervasive (and persistent) throughout the kitchen. Mice droppings on floors and in closets (We do understand that we were in the mountains but it was more critters than we expected.) Gave me the impression that the house is not rented very often or cleaning might be sporadic? 2. Very little household or toiletry amenities so bring your own. We had to buy extra bath towels, washcloths and dish cloths so that we had enough for daily use. There is a laundry room with two stacked washer/dryer combos but dryers take a very long time to dry if using both at the same time.3. Property Management: No binder or other type of useful info packet that so many property owners/managers typically provide. There were posters in several locations reminding us of parking and quiet time rules. We weren't sure how to operate technology or outdoor spaces. Property Management did not return calls regarding pool not heated to comfortable temperature or TVs that did not work.

Excellent Location walking distance to everything.

Beautiful House, across from the village and a short walk to Marina. Check-in process was very different that we are use to off with VRBO. Have to pick a Key from a different location instead of lock-box. There was a construction the road was closed had a very difficult time to get to the office to pick the keys up. other than that everything was excellent.

A wonderful Cabin for a winter getaway

The cabin is absolutely beautiful. There were a few issues with the houses upkeep, the roof leaked, the plumbing had issues, the BBQ was out of propane and there was an overall lack of kitchen items, but maintenance was quick to respond and we made do with the items that were in the home. Not having a BBQ made dinner one night very difficult but luckily their ovens and stove top could do the trick. The rooms are spacious, the dining table is amazing and overall I would definitely recommend this house.

Amazing location and house

This place is amazing, very spacious and cozy. The game room is adjacent to the bunk bed room which is great for kids. The only downside is that the city of Big Bear Lake requires the cardholder who purchases your stay to check in at the property management’s office before 6:30 PM which is difficult for midweek travel from surrounding areas. It also wasn’t communicated why we needed to stop by their office (after a docusign was submitted by us online) when it’s a keypad entry to the property. Overall, great stay though.

Great house and wonderful location

Our multi-generational family takes a Christmas trip to big bear every year. This year we were thrilled to stay at Kevin’s house. The lay out was perfect for a large family with rooms and bathrooms for everyone! The place was clean and for the most part stocked well. The only thing we could have used more of were paper towels and spare blankets. Beds where super comfortable, heat worked great. We would 100% stay again. Thanks Kevin and 5 star!!!

Positives: large, tastefully decorated beautiful home. Accommodates large number of guests with extra parking. Loved the game room. Lots of bathrooms. Large cooking kitchen, filled with all necessities. Absolutely beautiful property. Great management; friendly and accommodating. Close to town, very nice neighborhood. Negatives: Pool closed. Hot tub closed. Fountains not running. Not enough linens. Advertised TV in every room but most were not working; no cable connections. Thermostats needed new batteries, first night was 30 degrees and very cold in the back rooms and upstairs. No instructions on how to turn on gas fireplaces. Even with these things, the family very much enjoyed the stay. Property manager Demetrius was great!

Amazing location great space dont get it for the pool

The place was amazing great space amazing neighnorhood but on our stay here we couldnt use the pool because it was dirty, when we got there we notified the office the lady was amazing tried to help us but she just couldnt get ahold of the people in charge of cleaning the pool and i think is not so much their fault the pool is in the middle of trees so there is always alot of things and mosquitos flyes bugs fallin on the pool so is probably always dirty necause of that besides not being able to use the pool everything else was amazing

Spacious and clean home

We had a blast. For 12 guests we had so much space and room. The home is as pictured and that was phenomenal. The pool was very cold but it’s a beautiful home.

Great house with plenty of room, great location, but needs to be better cared for.

We read several earlier reviews that mentioned things that were broken, (spa, showers, etc.), and that repairs were promised, but not delivered. We took a chance and went in with the mindset that there might be a few hiccups, but that we would make the best of it. The house is beautiful, spacious, and was very clean. There was one room in which about half of the electrical outlets were not working. One shower was broken, and one toilet was leaking at the base. Those were inconvenient, but minor. The biggest disappointment was that both the pool and the spa, (which were a big part of the reason we selected the property), were completely green. The pool had a thick layer of algae on top. We contacted the property managers who relayed the message to the owner. The owner said that he contacted the pool service and they would be out that day. It was already 6 p.m. by the time he called us, so we knew that wasn't likely to happen. The pool technician did show up the next morning and made a trip back later that day and the following day. He was able to kill the algae pretty quickly and we were told that we should be able to use the pool. However, that didn't happen because all of the dead algae and organic matter simply settled to the bottom of the pool and was stirred up anytime the water was disturbed. The technician did attempt to vacuum it, but there was no automatic vacuum that could be left running overnight, just a manual vacuum. The two vacuuming sessions he gave it, and the several sessions that we gave it ourselves were not nearly enough to remove the material before we left, so we were never able to use the pool. We were able to use the spa, but that was not an adequate substitute for the pool. To their credit, both the property management company and the owner were responsive and did make a effort to correct our main problem, but fell a bit short. To anyone considering renting the property...it is spacious, beautiful, clean, but if there is something that is very important to you, (such as being able to use the pool), get assurances ahead of time that it is actually available.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Neglegent and careless management team!

This was the worst experience we’ve ever had. The grill was not working and all of the meat we bought for the weekend was left uncooked. We brought this issue up to the management and they kept giving us the run around telling us someone would come over which no one did. The jacuziis in the bathrooms were not working! tV in bedroom was not working! Bathroom faucet was broken. False advertisement! Poor and negligent management team! They only care about taking your money and will not accommodate to any of your needs or concerns after you arrive. We called them at 2p for the grill situation and they kept telling us someone will be out the. At 6:30 they notified us that no one will come. Do not book with this company ever!

great house

The inside was amazing ..Every room was great even the one with the bunk beds...All the beds were comfortable...It was so big inside no one bumped into each other....The pictures do not do this place justice...No one bothered us during our stay..We will be back in the summer to try that pool out..Only problem was one of the shower heads does not work properly and i believe one of the heaters were not working but the other 2 worked great so it was not cold....but i do recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in a big beautiful house..we really enjoyed our stay...

Great location on Big Bear. Spacious, open place.

Property was really nice but needed a bit of work. Jacuzzi was not working. Property manager didn't reply back one time after multiple attempts via text and through VRBO.

Very Special Family Reunion

This house will always be special to me. We stayed here in June of 2009. It was the last time our entire family was together before my Grandfather passed away. This house may not be a log cabin but it is HUGE, well spread out, and has plenty for everyone to do. Everyone was entertained, young and old. The layout was awesome. People could be in the game room, the living room, playing pool, swimming outside, in the kitchen...and it was amazing. The decor is a little cheesy and outdated/overly grand, but it's a GREAT place for a large group, for the price. I think that if they put some $$ into redecorating it to feel more like a cabin and less like a palace, it would be perfect.

Good Points and Bad Points

The house itself is gorgeous from the outside and at first glance inside as well. It is NOT on the lake and though it is close to the lake you CANNOT access the lake near the property. It holds 16 people very comfortably and the beds were comfortable in all rooms but one. The kitchen had mold growing on the ceiling which apparently has been there for quite some time, according to the owners own preferred "fix it" man due to leaking outside wood, there was a pool man there 3 out of 5 days that we were there but there is NO WAY to heat the pool, the grass (we were there end of July) remains very muddy and damp so hard for kids to play on, there is no manual on how to work the stuff in the house so you kind of have to figure it out by luck. Only 3 out of 5 burners in the kitchen worked. We did call the management company to complain about these issues as well as the WIFI being down and a beehive being right on the patio and they did send out a crew but the crew themselves said the things are fixable..they need to be replaced and the owner is aware and does not choose to do anything at this time. For the money we spent, I expected more. All that being said......it held 16 of us comfortably and we still had a great time.
