Benvenuti nel Painted Pony Bungalow. Fai un passo indietro nel tempo in questo bungalow secolare, isolato dalla strada da una gigantesca quercia. Con due camere da letto e un bagno, può ospitare comodamente quattro persone. Cane amichevole, si prega di informarsi.

Il nostro bungalow si trova in una tranquilla strada a tre isolati nel quartiere di Bungalow Haven che comprende un gran numero di bungalow intatti di epoca artigiana in un'area quadrata di quattro isolati. È a soli sei isolati da State Street, abbastanza vicino per una facile passeggiata e abbastanza lontano per sfuggire al traffico e al rumore.

A State Street troverai il Museo d'Arte e il teatro Granada, ricostruito di recente. Il Santa Barbara County Bowl è a tre isolati di distanza. La spiaggia è di due miglia in auto o in bicicletta. È solo un miglio a Santa Barbara Mission e Rose Garden.

Enjoyable getaway for a month

Everything was exactly as listed, we enjoyed our month long stay! The house is within walking distance of State Street (10-15-min) and the hosts were wonderful.

It’s a home away from home for us as this is the 2nd year we’ve gotten to stay here while escaping the blustery winter cold of our Alaskan home. This sweet house is clean, sensibly organized and welcoming the minute we walked through its door. We love the privacy of the enclosed back yard, not to mention the fabulous hot tub always ready for us at our whim! The neighborhood is quiet and friendly, easy walking distance to the little local store for treats. And Peggy, she’s the best! Always available if needed but respectful of our privacy, while subtlety keeping the grounds tidy & the hot tub happy.

Terrific first impression of Santa Barbara

The house was very cute and homey. Well laid out and decorated with everything we needed to cook, relax (hot tub and quiet yard out back), and best of all close proximity (< 1 mile) to state street and other attractions. Peggy was also very responsive and wanted to make sure we had a great time - a terrific host. We would stay here again

Painted Pony is the perfect little house if you need a quiet home in a quiet neighborhood, close to everything. It's been my sweet summer in Santa Barbara home for two years now! Great, quaint neighborhood and sweet owner

We enjoyed our stay. As 3 people in our 20s, we found this to be a central location and very easy to get to downtown. The hot tub was a great amenity and Peggy was great coming to clean it and the yard weekly while being mindful of our time & privacy. 10/10 would recommend

Wonderful getaway!

This charming, sweet bungalow was absolutely the perfect refuge for a month stay in Santa Barbara. If you enjoy the architecture of the old craftsman style you will love this home. It was perfectly outfitted with everything you might need to cook. It felt like home! Easy parking with its own spot. Comfy beds and nice towels. Beautiful garden in back with a hot tub. The owners were so friendly and always available with any questions. I would love to stay here again!

Peggy and Eric are amazing. Communication was very quick and helpful. Peggy and Eric went above and beyond to make us feel welcome!Peggy comes weekly to clean the yard and hot tub and she is so kind and thoughtful. Vintage Haven

Nestled in the hustle bustle of downtown Santa Barbara - and therefore convenient to everything- Eric and Peggy's 1917 bungalow with its cozy and fun vintage decor and charming garden is a surprisingly quiet haven to return to after a day or evening out. My husband and son loved the hot tub! Peggy is extremely responsive and has thought of everything from salad spinner to fans to beach tar remover. Street parking is usually available but the reserved space in the apartment lot in the back makes the ease of staying here seamless. I look forward to staying there again!

Quiet little paradose

I needed a nice, quiet place for the summer and Peggy really delivered! The house is cute, comfortable, and well maintained. The neighborhood is surprisingly quiet, with all you can hear at night being crickets, literally! What a tonic for my jangled nerves. Peggy is THE MOST lovely host, super friendly and immediately responsive to any issues that might arise, which are few and far between. Painted Pony Bungalow really worked well for me. I’d rent it again in a heartbeat.

Perfect place

If I could give a 10 star rating I would. I stayed here for 10 weeks and loved my time in this house. It’s close to the high school which was great for visits from my grandkids. 10 minute walk to town. Quiet neighborhood and a safe parking spot. Cute corner store two blocks away. The house is fully stocked and I mean fully. I was able to bake a banana bread and only had to buy bananas and eggs. Peggy visits once a week to tidy up the yard. Owners respond quickly to questions and requests. Comfy tv watching couch. Clean hot tub. Wonderful back yard for eating, grilling or relaxing. Neighbor has a friendly yellow cat. Residents of nearby apartments are quiet and friendly. House is small but perfect for me. This was my favorite VRBO of all.

Wonderful Craftsman in Perfect Location

What a terrific opportunity to be able to stay in such a lovely historic property. We walked the safe and pretty neighborhood a couple of times a day and enjoyed the lovely gardens in the area. The location is very central and an easy 10-15 walk to State Street to many restaurants and only a few blocks from the Santa Barbara Bowl if you'd like to take in the outdoor concerts. The backyard garden is extremely private with a lovely hot tub and outdoor furniture to either relax or enjoy a meal. In addition, we appreciated the backyard being completely fenced for our pooch. Even though your neighbours are close by, it's a very quiet area and street. We couldn't have asked for more thoughtful, kind and responsive owners as Peggy and Eric. They were always ready to assist on how things operated etc., and provided a detailed communication on the properties' operations. Much appreciated. The home is so welcoming and cozy and everything was is great working order. Lots of towels and linens and kitchen essentials. We hope to return if available.

Shirley & Blake were wonderful guests, super easy to communicate with & very considerate. Shirley graciously helped me water some of my flowering pots, & Blake gave me some great suggestions on our screen door that really worked! They seem like they are naturally happy people , enjoying Santa Barbara life and just a pleasure to host at the bungalow. I hope they will be back our way again sometime!

We stayed at the bungalow for two months and it was an absolute gem! The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful, the backyard and hot tub a total delight. The house is a gorgeous craftsman with charming bespoke accents. Our dog loved staying there as well. Peggy was wonderful as a hostess and very easy to contact. It was a perfect get away for a writing retreat and stepping out of the busy world. Would love to stay again in the future!!

Perfect home for an extended stay

We had a wonderful stay at the Painted Pony. My husband and I and one-year-old daughter found the space just right for our needs. It is equipped with all the essentials of a long-term rental. The furnishings and decor of the home very much suit the house and neighborhood, and the backyard is a peaceful oasis, complete with a hot tub. The location was great, in a fun, walkable area, yet on a quiet street without any traffic noise. Peggy was lovely and an incredible and attentive host. She communicated consistently, and always gave us a heads up if something needed to be cared for at the property. I would easily stay here again. As it was we were sad to leave!

A perfect place

Peggy and Eric's sweet cottage on a quiet street in downtown Santa Barbara is perfect, just right for me and my small dog. The owners couldn't be more accommodating and kind.

Perfect spot for small family

My family of three stayed at this bungalow for four nights. We had a two-year old with us so we needed a place with a kitchen and space for play. The home is completely functional with microwave, pots/pans, dishes, toaster, cable TV, etc. Peggy was very nice and helpful as well. My husband forgot his briefcase there and Peggy was kind enough to ship it to him. The location is close driving distance to all attractions.

amazing home in downtown SB

The location of the house is perfect, close to everything in downtown SB. This older home has a lot of cool character. The house is a little small but feels very cozy and has everything you'd need. The backyard is fairly private, with lots of trees and bushes, but the neighbors are pretty close (it is downtown after all). The hot tub was great, its a good size and was very clean and well taken care of. Street parking was easy and if needed there is an additional reserved spot in the parking lot behind the house. Eric and Peggy were very responsive and excellent hosts. Would definitely recommend this place.

Perfect for two people and a dog ;)

This little house was perfect for our short vacation. The neighborhood is friendly and very pretty, excellent for evening or morning walks. The house is charming and ten minutes away from mostly everywhere we wanted to go to in town. It is the perfect size for a couple. The enclosed backyard was safe for our dog and a lovely spot to have our meals. The kitchen is well supplied. If filtered water is important for you, you might want to bring bottled water or a water filter jug. We highly recommend this house and hope to visit again in the near future.

We LOVED this place

This met our needs perfectly. As 2 adults and our teenage daughter, everything about the place which is adorable, charming and the location, were perfect. We walked downtown or to the beach every day and when we got tired, we took the bus or shuttle which only costs 50 cents. Eric and Peggy were lovely hosts, the time they spent ahead of time giving us the rundown and the few minutes we spent visiting Eric at the Bookstore were great. This is a wonderful place to stay if you want the true Santa Barbara experience.

House is small but has everything you'd need for a nice stay. Kitchen is well planned and stackable washer/dryer in kitchen was appreciated. Very walkable to downtown and SB Bowl. Bathroom is tight and would be hard with more than 2-3 people, but everything worked and we had enough room for hanging towels and our toiletries. Wi-if worked great and hot-tub was a nice bonus (used once, at least). Parking was no problem. We were in town to look for an apartment for our college-aged daughter and this house was the perfect home-base for the four days. Peggy and Eric were great (met both) and would recommend the house for a few people. Do note that there is no a/c - fans were provided and ample for the hot spell while we were in town.

We stayed two nights, and chose Painted Pony bungalow largely due to its proximity to the Santa Barbara Bowl as we were attending a concert. It was a very easy walk to the Bowl. The neighborhood is charming, quiet and safe. It is also within walking distance (4-5 blocks) to State St., the main entertainment/restaurant area of Santa Barbara. The bungalow itself is also very charming, built 1917 but fully modernized with cable TV, a music setup, and high speed internet. While we didn't eat in, there is a very nice fully equipped kitchen, as well as a gas BBQ. The backyard is very private with trees/bushes shielding neighbors, and there is a large hot tub. There is a mom & pop corner story just a block away, where we got some snacks and newspapers. Beds quite comfortable, and bathroom well appointed, and has a nice shower (important to me!). This will be out "go to" place when we're in SB, especially when with have Bowl tickets. I highly recommend Painted Pony for a quiet unit that is also within walking distance to most SB attractions.

Great cottage

This is a great place to stay. It is close enough to downtown to walk and a short drive from most attractions.

We are Eric Kelley and Peggy Lindt. Eric is the owner of The Book Den; founded in 1902, it is among California's oldest book stores. Peggy is an artist, medical illustrator, dog portraits and designer. Her art work has been used in postcards, calendars, books, and several Old Spanish Days Fiesta posters. Peggy grew up in Santa Barbara. Eric came to town when he bought The Book Den in 1979.

We bought this house for ourselves to live in. When Peggy's mother needed more assistance, we moved across town to help, and thought we'd rather rent the bungalow furnished as a vacation rental than have to store all of our furniture. We've always loved the eastside location. It's in Santa Barbara's Bungalow Haven neighborhood, so the whole area is full of nicely maintained bungalows. It's easy walking distance to downtown; Eric and our dog Django often walked to work together. If you stay at Painted Pony Bungalow, you'll get a real feel for old-fashioned Santa Barbara living.

Staying in Painted Pony Bungalow gives all the old-fashioned comfort of a craftsman bungalow built in 1917, with lovely woodwork and built-in cabinetry, and vintage kitchen and oak floors. But you don't have to leave 21st century conveniences behind. There's a hot tub, HD television and wi-fi Internet, and a new window style AC (air conditioner) in the master bedroom, and filtered drinking water. It's the best combination of the old and the new.

Over the years since 2009, we've often had repeat guests that are remote working or on a working vacation for a season. The WIFI and quality computer access has always been a top priority. We are more than happy to accommodate their needs.
