Fabulous home for the month

Really enjoyed this home very comfortable and worked dry well for our family and visitors. Amazing sunsets. The dock was very handy for our boat.

Westport Island Rental

We enjoyed our stay on Westport island. Very peaceful area and well located to great Maine locations. The house was cozy and very clean. All the things you need for a great stay. We enjoyed eating on the large deck every evening. Beautiful large yard with a wonderful fire pit.

This house exceeded our expectations. It was clean, had everything we needed, and the communication with Sam was excellent. We loved the peace and quiet and everything quirky(in a good way) about the house. Very comfortable. We will be back again!!

Great for extended family.

Six adults, two children, and we all had a great time. The house is well equipped and conveniently located for exploring. The kids loved the dock and the fire pit, as did the adults. Thanks for the memories!

Great place to stay

My group of retired ladies certainly enjoyed our stay at this charming New England cottage. It was one of the most well-stocked locations we've stayed with ample paper goods supplied, even shampoo in the showers. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable. We found the location central to activities we'd planned. We liked that it was right on the river that had a high and low tide. We'd definitely recommend this house and host.

Cozy and Cute with an amazing yard

The house was extremely clean, cozy and comfortable. The yard made the trip, coffee on the deck or on the porch while the kids played in the private yard. Fires in the evening or games on the screened in porch was the perfect way to end the day. I highly recommend for a family vacation!

Beautiful Location

This was my third time staying here, and it's always a wonderful vacation. The house has lots of space and just about anything you could want is provided, from cooking implements to games. It's relaxing going down to the dock and watching the tides or loons diving for fish - we even saw a bald eagle! Walking down to the lobster co-op for a lobster dinner is always a fun experience. I'd highly recommend a stay on Westport Island!

Great stay on the Coast of Maine

This was a great house for a sizeable group with 6 adults! There was plenty of space to spread out and relax and the water views are incredible. We were even able to watch lobster boats come right close to the dock! There are some neat nature preserves on the island and it was easy to get into town. It's a little bit further to swimming, etc., because the bridge onto the island is currently only one lane, but our family had a wonderful time and would definitely go again!

Spectacular

We have been successfully finding nice homes on VRBO for many years for vacations, this property is hands down above and beyond anything we have stayed at before. Great communication with the owner, Sam was quick to respond to any questions. We will definitely be coming back to enjoy everything this property has to offer!! Beautiful Property; Would Visit Again

We had an excellent stay at this Westport Island location. Quiet street that was very easy to get to. All bedrooms were perfect for the 6 guests and one dog. It was fully stocked with many amenities and the back yard and dock was perfect for hanging out at the house and easy access to the water for kayaking and paddle boarding; there were also many near by walking trails with excellent views. We loved exploring the towns of Wiscasset & Bath. Sam was very friendly and easy to contact with any questions. My only gripe was some of the cleanliness of parts of the house. The First Mates bedroom seemed not to have been cleaned very well. There was a large amount of assuming dog hair on the floor and inside the sheets. There was also an old chewed up dog toy under the bed that our own dog found. There was trash left in the pantry area by the back door and the refrigerator and freezer had a large amount of food left in it from other guests, we did have to move aside and clean both to allow our food for a week to fit. However the bathrooms were in great condition and we felt comfortable using the amenities in the kitchen. All in all the critique I have did not majorly affect our stay and we would definitely visit again. This property made us all truly fall in love with this quaint and peaceful island.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. The location is perfect and we enjoyed the best fireworks we've ever seen just across the river from this property. The house was impeccably clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Sam was a great host as he immediately responded to any inquiries we had. He was very gracious with every request, as well as provided information about fishing, the area, and updates on an electricity outage due to weather that affected our entire island. The electricity came back almost immediately but he was at the ready for any concerns we may have. We fished off the dock and managed to catch a mackerel. The location of the property was excellent too, close to a lobster co-op, grocery store, and many local restaurants. What we loved most about the house is how comfortable it was. We felt right at home and we each had our own private area, with our individual bathrooms. My parents slept in one area off to the side of the kitchen, and we were in the master suite far off from the rest of the house. My son slept upstairs, away from us all. He likes sleeping in (as most teenagers do), and was not a bother with his late night tv-watching. The outside of the house was perfect for evening dinners and the sun sets right outside your window. Overall, was the best Maine vacation property we have stayed at. We hope to be back very soon!

Perfect place for relaxation

Perfect location to relax, but also close by to many cities to visit. Enjoyed the fire pit and watching the sunsets over the water. Short drives to Bath, Rockland, Boothbay Harbor so very convenient location to lots of places along the coast.

Two week family vacation

We really liked the house and the fact that each bedroom had its own bath. The ceiling fans were important as it was HOT (so unlike the Maine we know). The kitchen was small but well-equipped and the outside dining was great as was the BBQ grill and the fire pit. The dock was great for our boat but if you are a boater, know that to get to the ocean, Boothbay, Bath etc. is a long process as the property is very close to Wiscasset and requires a long trip down the Sheepscot before you get to those places. The Back River, where the dock is located, is difficult to navigate due to the strong currents. We have a 24 foot boat and it was tossed around a bit as the tide comes in and out. That being said, all else was great and if you are not boating, the house is in a great location, close to Rte 1, shopping etc.

Quiet and separate family areas

We had a good time having a fire in the firepit several nights overlooking the tidal River. My family enjoyed sitting down on the long pier beautiful sunsets and flew a kite off the dock. Kitchen is small but adequate, no Lobster pots though. Only problem is lighting in back yard not bright enough to take my dog out in middle of night. There are four to five steps to get in any door in the house, would not be good for someone with mobility issues. Owner apologized for master bedroom and bathroom not shutting properly, could not repair until cooler weather. Would rent again,just would bring my foldable ramp for my older dog. It is a quiet location and convenie to Wiscasset and Bath.

Wonderful Maine vacation!

Our family throughly enjoyed our time at this comfortable and well appointed Maine waterfront cottage. We enjoyed time on the dock watching dolphin, seals, ospreys, eagles and other wildlife. We loved kayaking on the river as well as hiking scenic trails on the island. There is lots to do nearby, but the house is also a great place to just hang out and visit. We saw some breathtaking sunsets over the river, and we enjoyed evenings gathered around the fire pit. This was the perfect reunion spot for our family of 6! Hope we can go again! Many thanks to our wonderful hosts!

Westport Cottage an Absokute Gen!

Let me first start out by saying that our hosts, Sam and Amy, are first rate! They helped answer questions during the booking process and during our stay! Extremely helpful and prompt! The cottage is adorable! Clean, comfy, and spacious! All the conveniences anyone could need and all the solitude that one can enjoy! Morning fishing yielded great results catching striped bass, daily excursions to nearby towns have us ample adventures and trinkets of our visit, and nightly relaxation by the fire pit finished each day! We even got a bit of star gazing in to see a bunch of shooting stars off the dock! We saw the osprey, seals, and chipmunks from the cottage! Two highly recommended ventures included sea kayaking in Portland and a trip to Monhegan Island out of Boothbay Harbor! Each take a full day if you shop a little in the town afterwards. Both worth the time! Besides the fresh lobsta’ ( which is as good and fresh as it gets), we had a dinner fron the Montsweag Restaurant and pizza from the House of Pizza - both excellent meals! We left feeling a bit sad that it has come to a close, refreshed and satisfied having enjoyed all that Westport and the Maine Coast offered us! Thank you Sam and Any for opening and sharing your vacation home to us! We hope to visit you again! Peace and love…. The McDonell Family

Gorgeous home, great waterfront location

We stayed at this property for a week and had a wonderful vacation. The house was very well-appointed and had everything we needed (bath and beach towels, linens, cookware/bakeware, lobster steamer pot, lobster utensils, clam steamer pot, household items, etc.). Having a bathroom outside each bedroom was a real plus. There was an ample lawn for our dogs, not to mention the dock for them — and us — to jump off. We launched kayaks from the dock as well, and kayaked down past the Westport Island bridge and up to the Wiscasset Bridge. We made s’mores around the generous fire pit (wood is provided but bring your own newspapers for kindling), which was great fun. The six Adirondack chairs around the fire pit were comfortable and just the right number for our group. Morning coffee on the dock, sitting in the two Adirondack chairs there, was a beautiful way to begin each day. Homeowners Sam and Amy were terrific to work with, and we look forward to returning next summer!

Enjoyed our stay

We loved our stay on Westport Island... house had everything we needed. Loved hanging out on the deck, in the yard, on the dock. Plenty of easy day trips allowed relaxing mornings and evenings at the fire pit. Love the area. Owner very responsive.
