First, the BBQ grill was fully functional. It was tested immediately after your checkout and reached a temperature of 450°F without issue. We were not made aware of any concerns during your stay. Regarding the smoke alarm, there was no communication from you about it malfunctioning. Upon inspection after checkout, we found that it had been forcefully removed from the wall, which exposed internal wiring and required us to hire an electrician to reinstall the unit safely. When you reported an odor in the pool house, our team was on-site within the hour. Our house manager temporarily opened doors and windows while retrieving a $400 commercial-grade HEPA filtration system with odor-neutralizing capabilities. Upon return, she noted that the odor had already dissipated significantly. However, when she attempted to re-enter and check the air quality, she was denied access. We take guest privacy seriously and did not force entry, although our intent was only to ensure your comfort. We do enforce house rules as best as possible but cannot continuously monitor the property during a guest’s stay. The odor issue originated from a prior guest’s violation of our no-smoking policy, for which they were penalized. We offered you a $300 refund as a good-faith gesture for the inconvenience, even though we incurred higher costs addressing the issue promptly. As for the other concerns: • The sheets on the pull-out bed were scheduled to be replaced and may have been missed during the linen changeover. We apologize for that oversight. • The bathtub plug and smoke alarms are routinely inspected and were functional prior to your arrival. We will, however, re-check these items in case anything has changed. • We are confident the property is maintained with care, and we continuously invest in professional support to ensure its upkeep. While we regret that aspects of your stay were impacted, we made every effort to respond quickly and appropriately. Your feedback will help us further improve, and we wish you the best in your future travels.
