We spent a week at this lovely property. So secluded with beautiful views, easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia and very comfy beds. The place is nicely decorated and since we were there in late September. Took advantage of the fire pit almost every evening. Would definately book again.

The house was in a great location making it easy to access Bar Harbor and Acadia. It was in a very private setting and on a quiet street which made it easy for walking down to the beach or riding bikes. Peter left detailed notes on the house along with many suggestions for local attractions and businesses. The house was clean and very well stocked and it was great having all the linens provided. We loved the sun room and the back deck and although we did not need to use it having a heat lamp there was very impressive. Also had lots of seating which is often not the case when you are renting a house for an extended family. Peter was very responsive to us when we had questions/concerns.Would recommend this house.

Stayed in early June '26. The house had everything we needed for a great family stay on MDI. The views from the deck, along with beach access after a short hike down, encouraged us to be outdoors while on prem. The drive was short to Acadia and/or Bar Harbor, so it was easy to hit points of interest and buzz back to the house. Rev Peter was an excellent host, easy to reach and responsive. His check-in info is comprehensive and top notch for recommendations. Would definitely rent from him again!

Nice bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and grill. The property was clean and comfortable with a lovely view. The cabin is ideally located Near the town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Terrific vacation

Cape Lookout is a lovely property -- well located, spacious, and well stocked. Peter was a terrific communicator throughout the booking process and during our stay. I highly recommend this property.

Great location with room for everyone

This is a great property with beautiful views. The location made it so easy to get to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Plenty of space for our family. Well-stocked kitchen and great sun porch. The host was responsive when needed and provided a great resource to the home and the surrounding area. We would come back for sure.

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful week at the Cape Lookout at Shore Haven! The property is in a great location with lovely views and just a short drive to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The house was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed during our stay. We hope to go back for another visit soon!

Cape Lookout is fantastic. Location is superb and the owner was more than accommodating. We had a large family group in and out all day. The beach was fantastic and the proximity to Bar Harbor, restaurants, min-golf, etc. could not be better. Simply a great experience--highly recommended!

Comfortable and Serene

House was very comfortable, and well-supplied. The property was serene and private; we never saw any other people, just the white-tailed deer. Excellent kitchen, and plenty of room for everyone inside and outside (deck, fire pit) the house.

A slice of heaven while close to everything!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the amazing waterviews and private location to the access to Acadia and downtown within a short 10 minute drive. The owner checked in with us upon arrival to ensure that we had everything we needed. The house was fully appointed with a well stocked kitchen(utensils, appliances, cookware and more). We would definitely stay here again with our adult children. Thank you for this fantastic listing (even better than the current photos depict).

Would recommend

Stayed with our kids ages 3-17. Very clean - which is a big one for me. Well equipped kitchen. Location was good. Very accessible to the main Acadia entrance, and the owner's book gives other suggestions of places to explore and restaurant suggestions as well. No a/c, which I think is pretty typical, but plenty of fans in the house. I would recommend this property and stay in it again.

Relaxing launching spot for your Maine endeavors.

Lovely place, extremely quiet but quite convenient to everywhere in the area. The house is fairly close to downtown, but also close to the roads to get to the quiet side of the island. We stayed there when there was still work being done to the home, so if you are reading this, it is likely even better than we stayed. The house was clean and we enjoyed the water view- it is not a sweeping view, but still quite lovely. There is a shared access to the beach area to spend time along the quiet shoreline. Excellent communication with the owner.

Most peaceful porch on the planet

Loved this little chalet. Had everything we needed and the communication with Peter was excellent. Can’t believe all the mussels we collected right off our beach - what a feast! We had two bald eagles as neighbors that were around regularly. It was perfect to rent with The Overlook up the way, and it was safe and close enough that my little nieces could come down to visit on their own. My teenage daughter also asked me to mention the fuzzy blankets, the fans and heaters, and that the toilet paper was excellent. 😊 We would definitely stay again.

Lovely home in a quiet setting

We enjoyed a week of hiking, whale watching and relaxing with the Cape Lookout as our home base. The house is set into the woods with a view out to the bay from the spacious back porch and deck. Comfortable beds, nicely equipped kitchen, fans in each room, though we did not need them after our first night. Peter, our VRBO host, was a great resource and easy to reach. One thing to note for future guests; there’s no access to the bay from the house (steep wooded slope, almost a cliff), but the Hadley Point beach is a short walk or two minute drive away. There’s a house user’s guide with lots of great suggestions for activities, and we can personally recommend Cookies, Pies & Such, where we got an amazing Triple Berry pie.
