Whale Watch House: Oceanfront / Near Mendo Village / a Private Retreat

To our recent Whale Watch guest: We have been a VRBO vacation rental host over 18 years. Our goal is to have our guests relax and enjoy their visit with us. Check Out List: You decided to not adhere to the requests on the Check Out List that the housekeeper left for you. This check out list was provided to you in the packet of papers sent to you be email. I wish you had advised us of your objection prior to arriving at Whale Watch. Then we could have helped you withdraw your application and find another vacation rental aligned with your expectations. Bathroom sliding windows open: We have deliberately opened the bathroom windows to allow moist air from the showers to escape and to keep air circulating to prevent mold growing in bathrooms. Closing the windows to prevent the cool ocean breezes from your bedroom at night certainly is allowed. Just remember to replace the plugs when departing. Tablecloth: The Sunbrella fabric is somewhat difficult to get stains out. They are impervious to a good scrubbing: I have tried. Spaghetti and red wine, etc. do leave some small stains, but they are not glaring - just small spots in amongst a very busy patterned tablecloth. That pattern was chosen for the blue of the ocean. Others have commented on how so many items in our house are coordinated. Apparently you have not seen the charm of Whale Watch. I'm sorry you chose to focus on what you perceive as irritants. Bathroom: The mid-level bathroom floor is slate tile with heavy grout. You are right, the floor appears to be dirty. The grout has absorbed some of the residue from some recent plumbing issues. The slate tile is being replaced, along with a new Toto toilet on November 1st. That is the first date that is not booked. Sliding doors: Those sliding closed doors come off their tracks quite often. Some guests are not gentle opening and closing. We are constantly putting them back on the tracks. Coastal Seating on the deck: If you were experienced in costal living, you would recognize the "weathered" look is typical. Coastal residents realize the salt air is responsible for the look which apparently irritates you. Those chairs are made of redwood and are fastened with stainless steel screws - very expensive! They were fashioned just for Whale Watch. You are the first guest to describe them as "uninviting". Most of our guests relish in our deck seating where they relax to the sound of the ocean waves and look for the Grey Whales, sea lions, and the low flying pelicans. Apparently you did not see the charm of Whale Watch. Instead you chose to focus on what you perceive as deficiencies. From your lack of positive comments, it appears we failed to provide the means for you to experience this. I do hope you find other vacation rentals that meet your standards.
