White Oak Point | Historic, Lakefront Cabin on Lake Lure

We want to be upfront about the status of Lake Lure. In October of 2024, Hurricane Helene left an unprecedented amount of debris, and while cleanup efforts are underway with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the lake has remained closed and will continue to be closed for the rest of 2025.

However, we're pleased to share that the town of Lake Lure has announced its official target date to fully reopen the lake for the 2026 summer season: May 1, 2026. While this timeline isn't guaranteed, we remain optimistic that this goal will be achieved through ongoing restoration efforts.

In the meantime, the magic of Lake Lure extends far beyond the water—breathtaking mountain views, charming local restaurants, award-winning vineyards, scenic hiking trails, championship golf courses at Rumbling Bald, and the world-class Tryon Equestrian Center just 25 minutes away are all ready to welcome you.

White Oak Point consists of 2 separate historical structures designed to accommodate large groups, extended family gatherings, and right on the beautiful Lake Lure!

Russell's Fort at White Oak Point is an authentic Revolutionary War Fort that consists of 3 stories, has an original hand-hewn log structure has been disassembled and restored by the hit TV series Barnwood Builders. The renovation of this fort that was built in 1775, involved updating the home with all the modern amenities and latest technology, but keeping all the original historical beauty. With four bedrooms and four and a half baths, there will be plenty of room for up to 10 guests.

The Cabin at White Oak Point is a historic 1930's cabin that has been a successful vacation rental for almost 3 years! Original period hardwood floors run throughout, beautifully decorated with historic and mountain aesthetics, you'll immediately feel at home and relaxed. With 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths, this spectacular cabin offers plenty of sleeping arrangements for up to 3 couples

It's an easy walk between both structures, you will be afforded a cozy atmosphere where everyone is together, surrounded by natural light and the beauty of the lake. There is plenty of living space amongst them as well as fully equipped kitchens and high end appliances. Access to large screen tv's, high speed internet and a hot tub at will have everyone feeling right at home, you won't want to leave!

With hundreds of feet of lake frontage and tons of outdoor deck space affords plenty of room for members of your group to relax and soak up the sun. When everyone is ready for a cool down, there are plenty of outdoor toys to enjoy with a combination of kayaks and stand up paddle boards so everyone has a vessel for fun on the lake.

Early Check In and/or Late Check Out may be possible, depending on cleaning schedules and other reservations. If it is possible, there may be an additional fee that would be determined based on the time that you wish to check in or out and the seasonal rates.

Pets: Many of our guests have allergies so we have maintained a pet-free environment so they can enjoy their vacation without the potential of an allergic reaction.
