Weekend getaway

This was our second stay at whispering waters and once again did not disappoint! The cabin is remarkably clean and Jeanice has truly thought of everything! The master suite , spectacular view and hot tub were the perfect setting for a weekend away!

cozy retreat

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week of rest and relaxation. The cabin was rustic yet elegant. And the owners went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They are definitely at the top of our list of places to return to.

Perfect Getaway

We absolutely fell in love with this cabin! It was the perfect retreat from the stresses of life. Ted and Jeanice are so friendly and helpful, they made it feel like home. And that view!!! We will definitely be back.

A 5 Star Hotel Experience in a Cabin!

The property is absolutely beautiful and the scenery and views are amazing. The cabin is clean, cozy and stocked with every amenity and then some. You can really tell how much love Jeanice puts into being a hostess. The bathrooms were palatial and beautifully renovated. The master bed was comfy and even the bedroom had an excellent view.

Perfection.

The owners were so accommodating, so helpful, so informative and genuinely want you to have a lovely experience at their cabin. They stocked the fridge with some staples, the home was CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and they covered all the bases. My friends and I loved every single thing about this cabin, it’s location and the amenities provided. 100% will be coming back!

The Honeymooners

Most relaxing honeymoon ever. Ted and Jeanice treated us like old friends. Property was well kept and had all the amenities of home. All the sites were a bit of a drive, but that was part of the charm. We plan to return with our children. Lovely house, lovely owners. P.S. Stocked fridge. Classy.

Thank-you for the review! Hope all is well with you! I'm glad you mentioned, and I agree with you, regarding the sites being a bit of a drive. When we were young relatives who'd visit would say, "you drive __ minutes to get to ____?" (Fill in the blanks, 1000 Islands, Canada, Lake Placid and etc.) Living in the north country we always point out that the same amount of time sometimes goes by driving in the city, in traffic, as here driving in the country, without the traffic. It was great to hear from you! Hope to meet your (future) children someday! That wasn't a hint was it?

Perfect getaway

We had a wonderful time at Whispering Waters. Not only is the log cabin unique and special but the hosts, Jeanice and Ted went out of their way to make our stay warm, restful, and comfortable. The pictures just don't tell the full story of how unique and beautiful this place is. Besides the natural beauty of the area and the uniqueness of the cabin, there were extra amenities throughout the cabin from music and books to snacks and essentials in the refrigerator.We couldn't have asked for more. Want a romantic, restful getaway? This is the place!

Lovely peaceful get away

I just have to say this cabin is so beautiful, CLEAN, organized and welcoming. I had such a great stay with my husband. Janice was always easy to get a hold of, super friendly and I love how neat and organized she is. The cabin has a beautiful view, right by a river. The town was small and quiet, it was a refreshing little trip for me and my husband’s honeymoon. Oh and greatly appreciated the snacks and the fridge filled with water, eggs, butter, milk and bread. It was really sweet :) Planning to come by again in the near future, it’s absolutely beautiful!

Perfect in every way. WOW, just WOW

We do not have the words to express how great everything was. The views, the rooms, the attention to detail, the cleanliness, the atmosphere, the sounds the river made. A prefect place to relax and de-stress. Jeanice and Tim thought of everything, yes everything. We have told our friends and will be planning another visit. You are close to so many things and attractions and Whispering Water is the perfect place to begin and end your day. Thanks again to Jeanice and Tim for a perfect setting for our anniversary trip. :)

Great Cabin by the River

Our visit to the "Whispering Water" cabin was beyond our expectations. The cabin was even more beautiful than the photos displayed. Everything you could ever want is in the cabin. Jeanice & Ted are generous, gracious, helpful, thoughtful hosts. The view is breath taking and will be even more spectacular during the fall foliage season. We visited Thousand Islands while we were there. You can sightsee or you can just grab a book and relax in the cabin or out on the deck with the view of the river. Our stay was one we will always remember. We will highly recommend this cabin to whoever will be going in that direction. Thank You again for everything.

Wedding by the River!!

It's true. All the stellar reviews you've seen here so far? BELIEVE THEM. Situated on a rocky prominence over a bend in the Oswegatchie River, it is a dream location. The owners hosted us for the inaugural wedding at their property, Their excitement level and involvement might have led a casual observer to think it was one of their own family being wed. We are beyond thrilled with our experience. There are simply not enough stars in this rating system to describe our satisfaction.

OH My GOODNESS! This was PERFECT!!

We rented the cabin for our son's graduation from Clarkson (a little less than an hour away). We were not sure how many would be staying but Ted and Jeanice were very accommodating. Our son had planned to continue to stay at his Potsdam Apartment for the weekend but when he saw the cabin Friday night, he was in too!. We had a fantastic time, cooked, enjoyed the privacy and the view. The pictures do not adequately convey the charm and completeness of the cabin. Ted and Jeanice have thought of everything! Everything! We have not stopped raving about to anyone who will listen. Everyone in our party (there were 7) is planning for how and when they can return.

Beautiful and peaceful place

Came up with family for my son’s college graduation. The house is warm and cozy, with a fairy-tale “cabin-in-the-woods” vibe. Our hosts thought of literally everything, even stocking the fridge with supplies for breakfast. I wish we’d been able to stay an extra day or two, just to continue to soak in the views and the sounds of the river. For travelers considering this rental: it is immaculately clean; private; warm; perched on the bank of a river. Great for a romantic or family getaway, or a writer’s retreat. Hosts are kind and generous and never intrusive. Beds are comfortable, and both bathrooms have been fully updated. The sound of the river rushing over rocks is mesmerizing. This is one of the very best vacation rentals I’ve experienced - and our family is well-traveled and has used VRBO for 20 years. Sincerest thanks to our hosts. It just doesn’t get any better.

Honeymoon Haven

My husband and recently spent our honeymoon at the cabin and we couldn't have asked for anything better. When we arrived exhausted on the night of our wedding we were greeted by flowers, a wedding card, and sparkling cider (I am expecting our first child)! I was blown away by that and i almost cried with relief when i opened the fridge to find eggs, bacon, pancake mix and everything we would need to make agreat breakfast the next morning. Besides the amazing warmth and hospitality of our hosts, i was blown away by the beautiful cabin and its suroundings. My biggest dilemma morning was chosing where to sit and drink my coffee while soaking up the beautiful views. The cabin was stocked with everything we could possibly need and we were happy to spend most of the week right there at the cabin exploring the island and cave, canoeing in a nearby lake, doing puzzles, reading, and just relaxing. It would be almost impossible to lay on the hammock outside listening to the rushing water, or sit around the fire at night and not feel relaxed and at peace. Thank you and we can't wait to come back with our daughter!

The caves are a hidden secret at present due to the river run off from the areas that were hit by the remnants of the tropical storms. Luckily we just had cloudy weather last week. The leaves on the trees are just starting to change to the fall colors. I think they are at least two weeks behind since they usually start to change at the end of August. I'm hoping for lots of reds! Yes, I'm trying to encourage those thoughts of returning to the cabin with your daughter! Jeanice

A Home Away from Home!

From the moment we booked our stay at Whispering Water, Jeanice was wonderful, sending information about the area and answering all my questions. We arrived late the first night and the cabin was lit and warm and waiting for us, and after a great night's sleep, Jeanice and Ted welcomed us personally the next day, making sure we knew where everything was and that we didn't want for anything. The cabin itself is absolutely beautiful; the pictures can't begin to do it justice. We got to use the hot tub one night, the pellet stove on another, grilled food several times, and enjoyed waking up to the views every day. Close enough to town that we could run for groceries, but far enough out to feel secluded; this was the perfect place to come home to after visiting the Adirondacks, Lake Placid, Lake George, and chasing down several of New York's finest waterfalls. We even kayaked in some of the local lakes. The weather was perfect and the leaves just beginning to change, we couldn't have asked for a better week. The worst part was when it came time to pack up and leave! We've been telling everyone about how great our Whispering Water vacation was, ever since we got home, recommending it to all our friends. We are thankful to both Jeanice and Ted for opening their piece of heaven to the rest of us and making us feel right at home. I'm pretty sure we have been spoiled for vacationing anywhere else!

Breathtaking Slice of Heaven

My husband and I have been traveling together for 6 years now. From Missouri, to Colorado, to Arkansas, to New York, we have enjoyed the many wonders that America has to offer. Whispering Water Cabin is the #1 place we have EVER stayed at! From the breathtaking views of the falls, to the cabin-feel interior/exterior, to the wonderful hospitality of the owners, we were amazed at the experience. The cabin was equipped with internet that worked AWESOMELY, the fridge was full of all sorts of condiments, milk, bread, water, eggs, etc., the cupboards were filled with dishes, pots & pans, canned & boxed goods, and cooking/leftover supplies, and there were graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolates for s'mores! We found all sorts of information for local restaurants, as well as coupons for pizza delivery and such, all bundled up in one area for our convenience.The beds were very comfortable and the closets were full of board games for indoors and life jackets/paddles/etc for outdoors. The screened-in porch (sunroom) was the best place to chill/relax, while listening to the soothing sounds of the falls. Oh, and the pool and hot tub were additional bonuses!! We recommend this place to ANYONE who is looking for a little slice of heaven, when vacationing. We will definitely be back, if Jeanice & Ted will have us. Perfect 2024 Solar Eclipse Trip

Our stay at Whispering Waters for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse was amazing! This cabin has it all, and then some. We picked the perfect place! First, Jeanice and Ted are truly warm and caring people. She contacted us a week before our arrival with concerns for us and the traffic issues we may run into on our way up. Additional arrangements were made, and we made the 8 hour trip ahead of all the traffic,issue free! Thank you Jeanice!! We arrived at 2AM and as soon as we opened the truck doors we could hear the water rushing over the rapids in the Oswegatchie river. Fell in love immediately! The stairs to the house were well lit, and when we entered the cabin there was a soft glow from the lights they had turned on or us, and the welcome heat from the pellet stove that had been lit before our arrival. My mother was especially tickled to find the "welcome to the cabin" bottle of wine on the dining room table, which she quickly claimed as hers. We were all tired, but excited to explore the cabin, and were pleasantly suprised to find it is actually much larger than it initially appeared. I really don't know what I can say about Whispering Waters that hasn't been said before. It's all true; thoughtfull breakfast staples in the fridge, huge gorgeous master suite with coffee bar-loveseat- huge bathroom-amazing river view. Tons of space to kick back and relax-porch, deck, hot tub, or just hang out on the point overlooking the river. Hope to visit again, and again! Thank you!!

Veterans Day Weekend

Everything was wonderful! Our host thought of everything, the house was loaded with special things. I loved sitting on the deck watching and listening to the river, a very relaxing getaway!

Amazing house

Amazing views! The house was clean and stocked with all your basic needs. We really enjoyed our experience. Will defiantly be staying here again if we come back up to the area!
