It's always very discouraging when a star is removed for things that are clearly outlined in the listing! It's the culture here in Cape May for linens not to be included in private rentals. It has been like that here for over 50 years since the demand is so high and turnovers happen so quickly. We never have any surprises at our rental. Photos are current and the listing clearly states everything about the linens and the starter supplies that we provide (also part of the culture here). People who frequent the Jersey shore and specifically Cape May do already know about these things as being typical for the private rental market here. Usually when people comment about this, it's because they've never stayed in the Cape May area at a private rental before. I would like to clarify, too, that we are VERY generous wth our beach supplies, beach tags, bikes and sports equipment. Many homes do not provide tags--which saves you A LOT of money--or as many beach supplies, which means people have to rent umbrellas and chairs at the beach. Nonetheless, I am glad Billy and his party enjoyed their stay.

Nothing in your review indicated any problems and in our communication, no issues were brought up. Aside from our appliances not being new (of course not all homes have new appliances!), please let us know what we can do better next time to warrant a 5-star rating.

We were glad to have Christine and her family, but I would love to know why we've gotten 4 stars and not 5. I accommodated an early check in AND a late check out for her party and she made zero complaints about the property, even stating how much they enjoyed everything. It would've been helpful to know why that 5th star was left off!

It is very clearly explained in the listing and also in the initial email that linens are not included with the rental! This is commonplace in Cape May--98% of private rentals in this town do not include linens. We include this information in the listing and in the initial email so that people can plan accordingly and so that people can choose to stay elsewhere if bringing linens is a problem. I'm disappointed to lose a star solely based on something that's clearly outlined twice with our property listing! Otherwise, I'm glad David says everything else about his stay was satisfactory.

This renter caused damage to the property, subscribed to a service on my streaming account without my authorization, and a few items were missing after her stay. I had to file a claim, which was paid in full because I had photos documenting the damage and theft. She obviously gave me this one-star review in retaliation for the one-star review I left her (which is what a person deserves if there is damage and theft during a stay). Please take caution when considering this renter. I encourage you to check my other reviews so you know that we are an honest, clean, respectable family with a great home available for your stay in Cape May!

This point person was a nightmare from the get-go. It is a shame she spent every day of her "vacation" trying to get a refund instead of enjoying her time. The ONLY complaint to me was the cleanliness of the home, which is ludicrous. We have a VERY high rating for cleanliness and are proud of that. Regardless, we offered a FULL CLEANING, which this person declined. If I was in a home that was "dirty", I would accept the offer for a cleaning, wouldn't you?! Our property is thoroughly examined after every stay and this person was a guest who deliberately created problems and then took photos of them and claimed they were already there, in an attempt to get her money back from us. The outlet, the doorknob...None of these things were broken before this stay. This family also broke a $150 play kitchen and didn't alert us (they tried to make it look like it wasn't broken). We had several things missing from our property upon her check out as well--a $30 coffee table book, an extension chord, MANY toys. Instead of filing a claim for these stolen and broken items, I let them go because this party had already been such a problem for us. If you're a homeowner, USE CAUTION when deciding to rent to this person. If you're a potential renter with us, I urge you to read all reviews and see that the ONLY negative reviews we have are from people who have caused damage to our home and then got mad about our damage claims or have tried to get money back on bogus claims and then got mad about it. I know common sense will prevail here, as it always does. I truly hope this person will be able to relax a little and enjoy things in life!
